'I'm right up there with the boys,' Romer says

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Christina Romer said Sunday that President Obama 'is very careful to make sure that every voice is heard' in his team of economic advisers."]WASHINGTON (CNN) – The only woman in President Obama’s inner circle of economic advisers said Sunday that she has no trouble holding her own with likes of Larry Summers and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner.

“I’m right up there with the boys,” Christina Romer, the Chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, said Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union.

Watch: Romer on 'the boys'

“The economics team has a lot of strong personalities. I’m actually one of them,” Romer told CNN National Political Correspondent Jessica Yellin.

“I do sometimes have to interrupt them,” Romer said of Summers and Geithner, “because they do both like to talk. But, absolutely, I feel my voice is heard.

“The president is great at this,” she added. “He is very careful to make sure that every voice is heard and he made it clear he wants to hear from all of us.”

Romer also said the economics team has “some very frank discussions.”

“But it’s actually great. There’s a big feeling of mutual respect. We argue. We think about things. And then we bring recommendations to the president and I’m pretty proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish.”

Proud of what you have accomplished, I guess a bunch of liberals would be proud of destroying this countries economy. How pathetic the white house has become and the only thing worse is both houses of congress with the likes of pelosi, conyers, reid, frank, dobbs, waters etc ad nauseum. Looking forward t0 2010 and 2012 if obummer has not abolished voting.

McCain is totally esponsible for her presence on the national stage and he needs to man up and just say it.. He made a mistake of choosing her without vetting her!

But let her campagine with you JM for the senate seat... You will lose big -Have you heard her lastest rambling speeches... Go Ahead – we need to continue to laugh at her while she entertains...

You are a part to ruin our economy. Barack Obama has a mission to destroy America and bankrupt our country so there is no way to return. Just go away. We do not need you. More you stay there more problems we will have.

I'd bet Obama doesn't want her deep down real feelings on the economy and the way to recovery.

    The President's economic team...

...including Romer... a top notch, knowledgeable A-TEAM... soon as the Wall Street Mafia is put in check, and their lack of patriotism is placed under the public microscope...

...the most crucial leg of the President's economic improvement plan, UNEMPLOYMENT, will begin to recede...

...the passage of another pillar of the President's economic plan, Health Care Reform, will make U.S. companies more competitive...

...and contrary to what the racist Bush-Cheney-Limbaugh-Palin conservative flat earthers, birthers, and senior euthanasia followers believe...

...the President is definitely no dummy, he has a vision for American success...

...whereas his (and OUR) enemies on the right only seem to have subversive ploys and plots for American failure...

This is one of the many reasons I am so happy we have Obama in the White House. Being the Leader of the Free World is a HUGE job, and requires not only surrounding yourself, but listening too, a wide variety of informed opinions. Does anybody really believe that Bush listened to what his advisors had to say? Of course not. They themselves have made it clear that he didn't. He appointed them then shut them out, listened to what Cheney said, then "went with his gut." That's a good way to decide whether to have chicken or fish for dinner, but not to run a country. And what did it get us? Thousands of American lives and tens of thousands of innocent civilian lives lost to an unnecessary war, a dramatic reduction in our individual liberties, and the near-destruction of what was a strong economy when he took office. And now the GOP is actually trying to blame Obama for not having already fixed the mess Bush created. Is the economy rosy yet? Of course not. You don't fix 8 years of destruction in 6 months. BUT.....for those of you not paying attention, I would like to point out that the stock market is up over 1000 points, (8.8% in the month of July alone), the housing market is beginning to show signs of stabalization, and job losses are slowing, so he has clearly brought us back from the brink. Now we all need to work together to build from here. It sounds like Romer, Summers, and Geithner are working together (something the Bush economic team never did) to craft some positive strategies for moving the country forward, and it sounds like President Obama is going to give them careful consideration, weighing all the options and listening to all opinions. All that is left is for US to do OUR jobs, starting by giving the President the benefit of the doubt (something many of you have never done), and making our own positive contributions to the economy - starting businesses, hiring workers, making purchases. Remember - if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

George Bush left this New President with 2 wars, 1.3 trillion deficit, financial meltdown, unemployment rates climbing up, housing crisis, economy in peril, American flag burned and step on anytime you watched the news, the country tarnished around the globe the day he walked in the Oval office on January 21st,2009 (6 months ago to date)
Today, stocks market is above 9,000 the best in years, housing rise, home foreclosure is slowing down, unemployment extended to help unemployed people. economy is looking better, GDP is looking way better than 6 months ago. Iraq troops is coming home.
He done all he can in 6 months to stop the bleeding that was left by George Bush.
You both should be grateful to have someone like him in the office.
Imagine having John McCain in the office, your country would probably bankrupt by now .
And yet, some republicans are not able to find anything good for what he has done so far. GOP you just have to sucks it up. He will be in the office for the next 8 years, and if you don't like him all you have to do is leave town (move to Congo)

If I were Obama I would stop listening to ALL of them...since they took over, unemployment has skyrocketed and our national defecit is growing faster than any advisor could have imagined. So, advisors, stop "advising", just shut up and keep collecting your fat salaries from the White House (I mean the taxpayer).

obama is on middle Americas side whether many of them want to believe it or not. I know it might be hard to swallow that a black man might be smart and compassionate. that is why so many want him to fail. it messes with their stereotype. would hurt them also if Hillary would have been president. hard for some folks to swallow. pride is a monster if you are not careful and can destroy your soul. good job obama. keep up the good work!

Where are the 4 Million jobs you promised to create, with the stimulis bill?...You Obama have quadrupled the Deficit in less than a year, and we have no way to pay for your Socialistic programs. Obama for someone with your education, why is it you do not know that you can not spend your way out of a recession?

I'm sorry, but the headline is insufferable. Women in positions of power shouldn't need to comment on being "up there" with "boys" anymore. please, who asked the stupid question anyway. Does something still need to be proven to some idiots? oh, another stupid question, I know. But really. we all, except for the idiots who need to catch up with the times, have better things to do than confirm a woman can hold her own with, uh, boys.

The hate being bogged is outrageous.
This is America everyone has a right to an opinion. So express yours and respect others even if you don't agree. How can 1 man in office for just 6 months be the cause of America's problems? If this country goes bankrupt (which it won't) it will be because of the billions of dollars that was made off the backs of the American people the last 8 years. The war in Iraq aside the billions that was put on an aircraft carrier and passed out in Iraq without any account system. The billions made on a no bid contract given to Black water. Just to make sure your living in reality the bail out of Wall street and the banks happened prior to Jan 20,09. All this pointing of finger won't help the situation, the help is the American people pulling together listening to what proposal that are coming from the Obama administration research the information write your representative and insist they work together to shape workable legislation on affordable healthcare for WE the people. Let’s get on with pulling this economy back on track and stop the race baiting, politicking and name calling.

It would appear hat boys and girls get along equally in the Obama administration.

As far as the American economy is concerned ... Bush drove that cookie jar into the ditch during his gangs' eight year greed fest ... so don't blame the unemployment numbers on the President.

I think it's time to start investigating the Rethuglans' role in our current mess. Drop the hammer on them all, cause they would sure do it to all the rest of us if they ever get the chance again.

The President and his team are doing a fantastic job! Before Mr. Obama took office, America was on the precipice of total economic collapse. Now, only six months into his term, the economy is stabilizing and some sectors are already beginning to show signs of recovery. If he can get his health care reform passed, this will ultimately lead to being able to lower the deficit by reducing our astronomical Medicare costs (yes, yes, I know the party of No has tried to convince you otherwise, but they're wrong). Well done!

News for you Republicans posting here. Let's bring back George Bush and Dart Vadar and watch the smirk on Bush's face.

I really miss his arrogance and the stupid "Deer in head light" look on his face. I also miss his hard line policies on any country that does not support his ideas.

The late nights TV shows are boring without the usual Bush jokes. He is sadly missed for the purpose of amuzement.

I'm a new college graduate and even with a down economy, employers are willing to take a swing at a new hire because they feel Obama is taking the right steps to grow the economy late this year and early next year. Personally, I'm very thankful for our new president.. Let's get active and help the president reform the healthcare system that is CLEARLY broken. He is already taken over improving the war situations and strengthened our ties with other countries. The stimulus bill is keeping police and teachers in the workplace, a green economy will make our country prosperous again.

George W. Bush did not inspire business owners with confidence. He couldn't even speak english correctly. There is no way he would be hired at the jobs I'm applying for.
