What makes you fools think tax hikes were ever OFF the table?
I swear, Obama voters are the same naive simpletons who see street "magicians" and honestly believe they are seeing REAL magic performed.

I trust Obama and if there ultimately is a tax increase on the middle class, which I won't believe until I see it, then his past efforts prove to me that there was no other way to acheive the goal. I truly believe that he has our best interest at heart and I'm willing to give him the benefit of doubt. He's one of the few presidents we've had that is smart and also has common sense.

The white house has dimissed these claims, saying they are all hypothetical claims.
Geez, you'd think if the white house is dismissing these claims they would let the people who work for the white house who regularly go on public television to speak on behalf of the administration in on their thinking.
Change fools believe in.

I hope so. What's wrong about paying more taxes if we have a decent health care system and education.

Tax the RICH - do the whole Robin Hood thing. I worked for tax lawyers, and I KNOW that people who earn $500K plus a year do NOT pay their share of taxes. Right now, we're drowning. Prices are escalating everywhere on daily necessities. If the middle class is taxed any more there won't BE a middle class. I voted Obama - I believed his campaign promises, and if he raises my taxes, HE IS A LIAR. I"m sick of seeing doctors driving fine cars and refusing to treat sick people because they can't afford an office visit. Tax THEM. Tax health insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies HEAVILY and while you're at it, FREEZE PRICES. Force those who are rich to do the heavy lifting for a change.

Yup, empty promisses are hard to keep!!! Thanks for the empty promisses you made Mr. President and enjoy the office for the next 3 years since you will be thrown out by the people who elected you in the first place as they will understand how empty your promisses were! Good Luck!

Yes People, once again Mr Obama goes back on his word. I will be the first candidate that will lower taxes. Or we heard No taxes on the Middle class. Hummmm! Who knew. Mr. Obama STOP spending all or our money in the first place. Basic economics, you can't spend what you don;t have. Get it, the 1st graders do...

Well, we've seen what 8 years of tax cuts have done to our country (broken roads, bridges, schools, and bankrupt states), so, why not raise taxes and get our country back on track?
Why are people so scared of taxes.....taxes keep our communities better!

Ha, Obama just pulled the wool over "Main Street"!!! Too funny that these people believed they would not be affected... A big spending liberal president does not care where the money comes from as long as it is there for him to spend on his agenda. The sooner that you "Main Street" folks understand that, the faster we can stop this train wreck!!!

Obama is finding there aren't enough rich people to pay for all his programs. Boy am I shocked. Guess who's going to pay the brunt of it–the middle class. A blind man could have seen this coming.

Now, that is a hot button issue, not liked by many, especially the rich and rotten. GOP has a stake in it too. Right now, it is not the Govt. that is the problem, but it's the GOP that's.

No, of course not! We can have all the services we demand and never have to pay for it. Remember Reagan? He taught us that.
Here's the formula:
1. Cut taxes.
2. Spend $5 trillion for services and/or wars.
3. ....uh, a miracle happens!
4. And the budget is balanced
5. Promise no more tax increases.
6. BORROW.
We're still waiting for that miracle to happen but, of course, expecting more services.

It didn't take a genius to figure this out . However, charm and personality was used very successfully to obscure what was evident even before the election. Simply put, there weren't enough evil rich people around to shoulder all the burden for what he propsed to spend. And that was before we found out that his actual bills will be much higher than he tried to make us believe.

I love it when they title things in a way to elude to something that didn't actually happen. In this report/video, I didn't see anywhere where Obama backpedalled on his promise to not raise taxes on the middle class. Speculation. All it is. The false title did make me watch it though! Very clever, CNN!

With a Socialist President and Democrat control of Congress, this is the lameist question possible! Wake up America. The only ones that will benefit from Obama's plans are those on the Government payroll and people expecting entitlements on the backs of hard-working American taxpayers!

If your premiums go down a thousand dollars a year and your taxes go up a couple hundred then I think there shouldn't be anything to complain about. Especially if it means guaranteed coverage. Let's see what side these naysayers are on once they're refused coverage or dropped from an employers insurance plan. Then they'll be begging for any help they can get.
Wow, wait until the August polls come out.
