Palin gives 'stirring' gun rights speech at NRA dinner, says group

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption=" Palin's fans have been clamoring for her to re-launch her Twitter feed."](CNN) - She’s gone Twitter-silent since leaving office last week – but former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has spoken out publicly for the first time since her resignation, according to the nation’s largest gun rights group.

Palin addressed a National Rifle Association dinner in Anchorage Saturday, the group reported on its blog. The NRA did not reveal the content of her remarks, but described them as “a stirring speech on 2nd Amendment rights.” Reporters were not invited to observe the event.

The former Republican vice presidential candidate was also given lifetime memberships in several local gun clubs, and the NRA’s Gold Medal Award of Merit for the Promotion of Gun Collecting.

Palin has not yet given a media interview since leaving officen and has yet to re-launch her Twitter feed after leaving her goubernatorial account behind. Last week, her spokeswoman said that she had never committed to, and would not be attending, a GOP event at the Reagan library at which organizers had expected her to appear.

If they would not reveal the content of her remarks, then she really didn't break her silence, did she?

Awwwwwwwwwwwww, Jesus must be so proud. As much as I dislike this woman to the core of my being, I had a small amount of hope that maybe she would use her new found fame(I use that term loosely) to get involved in organizations that promote improving the education and lives of special needs children and adults. I was really hoping(glasses must have been a bit too rose colored) that she planned to do something worthwhile.
My rose colored glasses are now gone. How disgusting. It's not about guns, it's not about who is the more patriotic American, it's not about who supports the troops more(we all support the troops but we may not support how they are used), it's not about legislating morallity, it's not about abortion, it's not about gays. It is about every person in this country. It's about all of us being American even if we look different, worship different and live in different ways.
I wonder if Sarah is gearing up for an Alaskan sucession. Her speach on her last day as Governor was very devisive and she seemed to resent anyone who wasn't a wilderness tough, hunting Alaskan.
Thank God all of our daughters do not have to see her as the first woman VP, and she certainly will never be the first woman President. Sarah, you are everything I don't want my daughter to be.

  5. Obama should read the constitution

Obama and his staff should read the Constitution so that they may
become aware of the 2nd Amendment .

This woman only fires blanks. CNN, stop wasting time on Sarah Palin.

The economy is vastly improving and so are our prospects on the world stage. Obama is such an improvement over what we had for 8 years. Why would anyone in their right mind want to go back to that Hell?

    Gun nuts suck!

"At statehood we knew that we were responsible for ourselves, our families and our future, and 50 years later we can not start believing that government is the answer. It can’t make you happy or healthy or wealthy or wise. " – Sarah Palin

I am sure it was a hate spewing event with Sarah Palin cheerleading the event. This woman does not have any knowledge on most things that count, but does an excellent job running off at the mouth and speaking of devisive things. She is dangerous with her rhectoric and repubs have the nerve to criticize President Obama on rhectoric. At least, he knows what he is talking about and he is not trying to devide the country. Just because she eats shoots and eat moose does not mean she knows what is best for this country. She is right down scary to be honest!

Reporters weren't invited because I'm sure it was another senseless speech by the bimbo.

Wow, Lifetime memberships and Gold Awards from Gun Clubs and the NRA! No reporters admitted or any release of content of her "stirring speech" on Gun rights.
Maybe she showed up wearing a string bikini and heels while brandishing an M60 machine gun she uses to shoot moose while riding in a helicopter.

Big Deal, she talked to a room full of right-wing extremists.

No one wants your guns NRA, just keep them and shut up or do something useful with them and shoot yourselves.

Why is this woman still so surprised at how "unfair" the media coverage is? Was she not the one yelling out at rallies that Obama was a terrorist? Karma sucks, huh Sarah. Don't try to USE the media to sling mud and then be shocked when the pendulum swings back and hits you in the butt.

It sickens me more to hear McCain say how disappointed he is on the media coverage. HE and HIS staff knew how bloody this would be. Republicans INVENTED the "swift boat" tactics. I blame McCain for bringing such an inexperienced person onto the political stage. I blame McCain/Palin for my separation from the Republican party.

I was just so surprised to hear that Sarah Palin gave a speech in support of gun rights. Did you also know that many Major League Baseball players took steroids? By the way, are there any other rights that Sarah Palin supports? For example, those articulated in the first (speech), fourth (search and seizure), fifth (witness against oneself) and eighth (cruel and unusual punishment) amendments to the US constitution.

Great report , to bad you were not there. The main stream media has done nothing but bash Sarah and her family as well as provide a venue for the left only caustic commentary. Funny that 47% of America did vote for her and I would bet at this point that 50% of those who voted for Obama wished they hadn't

    Go away, Sarah.

It never ceases to amaze me how this vapid, dimwit is always on the wrong side of every issue. I don't think McCain should ever be forgiven for injecting this jerk into our culture. I try to remember life before Palin and I can't.
