CNN Poll: Obama receives a C+

WASHINGTON (CNN) - A new national poll indicates that Americans think Barack Obama's performance as president deserves a grade of C +.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey, released Thursday as the president approaches 200 days in the White House, asked respondents to use a grading scale of A, B, C, D, and F, where A is excellent and F is very poor.

Twenty-two percent of those questioned gave Obama an A, 32 percent a B, 20 percent a C, 14 percent a D and 14 percent an F. The president's grade averaged out to a C+.

The president received a grade of B minus in a CNN poll taken earlier this year as he approached 100 days in office.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll was conducted July 31-August 3, with 1,136 adult Americans questioned by telephone. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

His poll numbers are dropping? Aw. Couldn't happen to a nicer Community Organizer. Now some of his zombie like supporters can start to snap out of their daze.

Others, of course, will let him put any crazy policy into place, with the rationale- "But he can't clean up Bush's mess in only (fill in the blank) months!! Give him a chance!"

The more of a chance we give him, the more he will drive our liberty and our country into the dirt.

I'll still give President Obama a solid B. He's light years ahead of the idiot we had before.

Let's just give everyone a C.....this is childish CNN. This country is in a mess and it going to take hard work to get things in order. It may take us years to get out of this hole.

  10. Concern News Network

When did CNN become a new Fox news? I mean really everyday I visit this site and I see another concern about the administration. Is Obama this? Is Obama that? Obama is mocked? Obama birth certificate? It's hillarious just how corporate owned media like CNN don't report actual news any more. Sometimes I think CNN is just here for entertainment purposes like the Enquirer. Understandable though I mean the dollars of corporate interest does pay the bills.

C+? Too high, I cannot even get into Harvard with grades that low.

This is so stupid. CNN, do you realize how many people don't vote for your stupid polls but fully support our Presidnet? Polls are just a way for you to make whatever headlines you chose to make – they have no basis in reality. And the only way you could really get the views of Americans is to ask each and every one of them, so why don't you try to report news rather than trying to make it up as you go along.

    From a B- to a C+?

Do you people not actually know
the meaning of the word "plummet"?

its just that b- to c+ hardly counts as "plummeting"

It is perfectly clear that Obambi is not doing a good job. We need Sarah Palin as President instead. She will constantly get A+ grades from CNN voters.

Before Obama took office, the Bush Adminstration was already taking emergency measures (tarp = trillion$) to prop up the worst economic outlook of over 100 yrs (so said Alan Greenspan, the acknowledged authority). As soon as Obama was officially sworn in, the right wing blowhards immediately started blaming Obama for everything. Limbaugh even referring to the 'Obama Recession'.

It's apparent that the same ignorant voters that kept Bush in office for 8 yrs, have been swayed to think Obama is responsible for all of our problems.

Obama is the best, brightest, hardest working president in our nation's history. And his biggest challenge is keeping his focus (and political captital) amidst the predictable, despicable, cancerous rightwing talking heads.

Americans are so hard to please. They do not know things need time to change and the changes they want must be instant!

My computer shows the CNN final poll results for the president to be C- with 14% giving him an A+ & 39% giving him an F. These figures differ quite a bit from what is reported in the above article, which says his overall grade average is C+, with 22% giving him an A & 14% an F. I don't understand the disparity.

You know, it seems kinda stupid to me to try to judge a new President's performance seven months in to his term; while he's trying to undo eight years of Republican led nightmares. Can the grading until he's been in office a couple years and then ask for a grade. All you're doing is stirring the pot by asking the public after an unrealistic timeline.

Oh, for goodness sakes! GIve it up already, CNN.

You are so self-absorbed that the entire ticker is filled with "your" report cards for everyone and their brother. Yes, I realize the so-called "public" gave the grades. But this is not helpful. For example,
Joe Biden (god love him, but no one knows what he is doing) gets a "C". Based on what?

Who's gradding him, the Republicans???? I feel that he is doing a good job considering all he had to deal with. I don't care what the numbers in the polls are right now since he is not superman. I know one thing for a fact...... I cringe to think how things would be now had John McCain and Palin won. Did I say he was not superman, well let me retract that since if you really think about it, we are not doing too bad considering.

Stupid poll. Considering almost half the country voted against him, he's bound to be judged average, no matter what kind of job he's doing. Our country has moved to polarization since '94. It's hard to buck that trend.

Obama will always receive somewhere from B- to C+, as the steadfast Liberals will continue to vote A A A A no matter what he does to the country.

Granted, many Conservatives will blindly vote D or F, but what really matters it the middle-ground voters. These are the ones who shifted from the B- to the C, and these are the ones that will boot him from the White House in 2012.

We don't need you all. We just need 5% of you to open your eyes and take a good, hard look at what is becoming of our freedoms and the American dream.

Calling a B- to a C+ plummeting is nothing but sensationalized reporting. Stop creating news and just report it. OK?
