CNN Poll: Obama receives a C+

WASHINGTON (CNN) - A new national poll indicates that Americans think Barack Obama's performance as president deserves a grade of C +.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey, released Thursday as the president approaches 200 days in the White House, asked respondents to use a grading scale of A, B, C, D, and F, where A is excellent and F is very poor.

Twenty-two percent of those questioned gave Obama an A, 32 percent a B, 20 percent a C, 14 percent a D and 14 percent an F. The president's grade averaged out to a C+.

The president received a grade of B minus in a CNN poll taken earlier this year as he approached 100 days in office.

The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation poll was conducted July 31-August 3, with 1,136 adult Americans questioned by telephone. The survey's sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

This unscientific poll is a sham. There is now way that this CNN viewer only poll can be a true reflection of what America thinks of our president.

So if 54% of respondents gave him an A or B how does he average a C+. Either someone needs to go back to school, or CNN is trying to create a headline. Which one is it?

That's an approval rate of 77-79%, not bad.

    Good work President Obama

A new poll of 1,136 people! That isn't enough people to poll any subject.
    Add my poll F.

This president is scaring most Americans to death.
    Poll that.

52% of Americans graded Obama above C and CNN gives him a C+. What a deceptive little piece of mathematics CNN has managed to eek out to kowtow to the right wing. Even when Obama was riding high, he got a B-. Obviously, CNN is playing games with the numbers!!!

Only because the nutjob side of the Republicans have been lying at amazingly loud levels. Remember Bush's first few months? nothing was said, 9/11 happened and all we heard was how could it be HIS fault? Obama has been in less time and is being blamed for every. single. thing. including stuff that happened BEFORE HE WAS ELECTED.

What a joke of a government we have it is okay for the people to speak as long as you are with acorn and breaking in homes that you can't make a payment on but to go against the great one then you are trash I am sure his days for good rating are over because the majority of AMERICANS do not want government run health care and if it does pass it will cause major problems for our country wait and see. I'm sure I will be reported to the great ones flag website which is another joke about the demo's

C+ for now, but it won't remain a C+ for long. In a short time it will be a D and soon will come that F...........F as in failure! As a matter of fact many of us have already given Obama that F.

The Presidents health care reform grade is an F. It should NOT be up to the government to dictate at what age our lives should end. All people deserve health care regardless of age or sickness.

the percentages equal more than one hundred. How was the average determined. Maybe it really is a B-.

I voted for the man-but certainly did not want an entire social and economic upheaval of the country. Where are the breaks and incentives to bring industry back; what about the change in foreign policy; what about the political tactics which were going to be more all-inclusive. He and the other Democrats have been a major disappointment.

"Obama's grades plummet", says the lead. Baloney. Some 54% give him A or B, averaging an A- or B+. Another 20% give him a C, which pulls him down maybe to a B. That's almost three quarters of the population. The rest, 28%, are Republicans who still think George W. Bush did everything right and nothing is wrong with health care - in short, certifiable fanatics. So let's get real: the vast majority of Americans think Obama is doing a solidly superior job. And they're right.

I have a great idea, why dont we stop feeding into everyones fears of whether or not we are going to survive this hard time and give our President his full term before we grade him. Seriously, what does this prove? Or what I should say, what do these grades do to help our country...not a thing!! Maybe we should spend less time being impatient and more time working as a country. If we contiue this, us v. us we will send a message to other countries that we are so preoccupied with ourselves that we are welcoming an attack! Everyone needs to just relax, realize that we will eventually get out of this mess, but only if we start working as a country and not start the Civil War of 2009!!! I am sure we can all take a step back and realize that we have common ground to build from on any agenda item!

that's such a misleading headline! 52 % grade him A or B and yet C is what's in your main caption?
why is everyone putting him under a microscope that no previous administration has been under. Bush 43 didn't recieve this kind of attention until after he'd ruined the nation!

Sorry CNN, even all the cheerleading you did on behalf of President Obama could not help. But, he did do better than the MSM, you only got a D, personally I gave you an F.

    I give him a B
    – Got a climate bill started. Watered down but if we get cap n trade started it will be a step in the right direction.
    – Got health care started. We should have single payer but I will take covering almost all Americans and a public plan as a start. I guess we will worry about cost at a later date.
    – Saved the Auto Companies. For all the talk of 'job killers' for the above 2 points from republicans, this would have been a job killer if he didn't save them. Bonuses for higher MPG standards and pushing for electric cars.
    – Stopped torturing and put a deadline on the symbol of our failure to live up to our values (Gitmo)

My biggest complaint for Obama (F) is not only his failure to investigate criminal behavior by our past administration (and companies, ie ATT) but actively covering up the torturing abuses committed by our government (Which itself is a criminal activity). Hopefully Holder will correct this?

It's very interesting as to how they arrived at this grade. A grading scale with a HUGE curve must have been used in-order to get to a "C+" average! Who was polled? Where?

    Maybe I was a bad student, but I don't see how going from a B- to a C+ constitutes a "plummet".

I give him an A- . He has only been in office 6 months and we expect him to fix everything that it took Bush 8 years to do? I guess you folks think Sarah Palin would have done better ha?
