Tennis, golf for Obama on day one

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Burton also revealed Obama is set to play golf later in the day."]

(CNN) - Among President Obama's first activities on Martha's Vineyard: a friendly tennis match against wife Michelle.

White House spokesman Bill Burton told reporters Monday on the Massachusetts island the first couple squared off earlier this morning, though it remains a secret who won.

Burton also revealed Obama is set to play golf later in the day with South Carolina Rep. James Clyburn, UBS CEO and major Obama supporter Robert Wolf, and White House aide Marvin Nicholson.

As for the rest of the week, Burton offered few details, saying the president himself doesn't even have a particular schedule.

"He's on vacation, so everything is a little bit loose," he said.

Burton, however, did dispel reports the president is planning on visiting ailing Sen. Ted Kennedy in nearby Hyannis Port.

"I heard some reports today that the Secret Service had visited Hyannis Port. I don't think that there's any reason to believe that there's any plan to go to Hyannis Port at this point," he said. "I think that if Secret Service agents were there, they probably heard like all of you already know, that they have great lobster rolls out there."

Burton also said it's unlikely Obama will spend much time mingling with residents of the 23-mile long island.

"His desire on Martha's Vineyard is to get a little break," he said. "He certainly appreciates the hospitality of the folks who are here, but his desire here is to relax and spend time with the family."

Who really cares what they are doing- except for the fact that their renewed vacation is costing at least $35,000.00 for the weeks stay and that is rent alone We are all suffering and they are living high on hog- sound a bit like a piece of history (Marie Antoinette all need is Michelle to open her mouth and tell everyone to eat cake)

What happened to Captain Flubulous reading 300 pages a day?

Hey, isn't UBS the bank that the IRS is trying to get to rat out their U.S. customers?

You people are funny. First, you expext Obama to clean up a mess that was made over eight years in eight months. Then, when he actually tries to give all of you broke idiots some healthcare so you can stop going to the free-clinic, you hamper him in everyway and complain about everything. You watch his everystep, and you even complained about Michelle wearing shorts?! People get over it! He's working and doing more than the past president. How about he does just what Bush did: Start two unecessary wars, retreat to Crawford ranch, and give a big UP-YOURS to the American economy. Leave him the hell alone and let him rest and work!

How about giving the President and the First Woman some proper respect? Would you have said George Jr./Laura or John/Cindy?

No folks, most of your republican leaders vacation on a regular basis just as the Obama's do. They aren't concerned about your well being when they go on vacation. As in the Bush case he went on vacation right after 9/11, and was on vacation which he didn't interupt during hurricaine Katrina

Listen to these Republicans, lying about how much time Obama's spent on vacation, lying about his citizenship, lying about how much is being spent. They lie so much and so easily, you can't believe anything they say anymore, be it about the way they'd govern or the very existence of their god.

Republicans have NO credibility in any area anymore, and it's their own faults for telling so many lies.

Hmmm. Golfing with the UBS CEO. Wonder how much in donations that took. The more things "change", the more they stay the same.

It will happen only in USA! Did any one hear anything like this about from any other countries?

Well, CNN don't have any other valuable thing to report...

Leave him and let him take some time off from all the issues ...

How nice that they can have so many vacations in such a short time - makes one wonder if they have any guilt at all considering all those unemployed, the number of elderly having to file bankruptcy, etc. How arrogant and self centered this family has turned out to be.

It is NOT a bill making its way through the Congress. They are drafts being crafted by commitees in each house of Congress on the way to one day becoming a BILL.

I agree....another vacation...must be nice...when he took on this job it was not to spend "We the People" money...I have not had a vacation since 1988 ...not in my budget...we stay home...can not afford it glad we are paying for his family vacation!!!....$35,000.00 a week..must be nice! Tooooo many people can not even afford to send their kids back to school...seniors can not afford medicine...people do not have house, because of foreclosure....our past presidents are rolling in their graves with what the politicians of this country have done to it...... our future generations are in trouble...

The Obamas take too many vacations!! At least Bush went to his (free) ranch and did some work. This president is taking advantage of everything - including Americans!! Hope he spends some time in deep thought about how he's ruining our country.

President Obama is working so conscientiously for the American people! If I had the money, I would have sent the First family on a vacation.
Enjoy your vacation, First Family, you all deserve it!

You people complain about Bush's vacations, it took him 8 years to complete all of his vacations, Obama has already taken almost half as many days in 8 months and I am sure this is not even close to the end of their trips. Many of you have said you hope the media leaves him alone to enjoy his vacation, I hope the same thing so we don't have to see him every day making some kind of "major speech".

Oh boy! The First Lady whopped the POTUS! That would be fun but just leave them alone will ya! First vacation in seven months of hell, they deserve the time, peace and relaxation "if they can get it"

Have a little fun guys, at least you have not taken off 42% of the time like 43 did.

They NEEDED a vacation? They have been on a continual holiday since they moved into the White House. We have had to watch them trek around the world while many in this country no longer have a house or proper food. They just got back from the Grand Canyon and NEEDED this "little" break? It was reported that they picked up the tab for their lodging, but I am sure that "WE, THE PEOPLE", picked up the tab for their transportation and entourage. This man will be a one-term president . . . if he wants to stay, he'll have to roll up his sleeves and help his fellow Americans. For the average American, news about the golf and tennis is hard to take.

I am not a fan of Obama nor was I of Bush, but even though Bush took a lot of vacation, it usually was at his ranch or Camp David.

Has anyone noticed that the first people to complaint about something are the one's who say "who cares?" If you don't care, don't read the story or comment on it. As for those complaining about the President taking a vacation – he's entitled to one so back off unless you're saying that if you were President, you'd never take a vacation. To that I say – liar.

And, it doesn't matter if he's on "vacation" or not – he's still the President and his office goes where he goes.

Go Obamas! Have a great time. You sure deserve it after all these hard work unlike some that we know. But then again I wished Bush had taken his vacation the whole 8 years. We would have been much better off.
