'Tea Party Express' trucks on with tour aimed at health care

WASHINGTON (CNN) - They're angry and not going to take it anymore. And now they are doing something about it – again.

On Friday, the "Tea Party Express" group will travel cross-country on a bus tour starting in Sacramento, California and winding down in Washington, D.C. on September 12.

It's at that point, the group notes, that a three-day march on the nation's capitol will take place to protest the country's rising deficit and fear over taxes being raised.

The tea party movement gained momentum this year as several parties were held across the country this summer to protest President Obama and the Democrats' economic stimulus plans, among other things.

On July 4, nearly 2,000 advocates - toting signs and chanting slogans - rallied outside Congress. Activists said the TEA Party Day - an acronym for "Taxed Enough Already" - was in response to what they called runaway government spending.

But now, the focus is namely on health care reform – a key issue that has created the spark for a bigger, wide-encompassing debate throughout the country and in Congress.

"What brought everything together was the Obama-care idea, which contains every odiferous objection," Tea Party Express organizer Mark Williams said Friday. "Is it health care? [Ted] Kennedy care?"

Over 100,000 Iraqi civilians killed in the illegal war

I agree with everybody who's asking where were these idiots when Bush was spending all of our money on an war with somebody we shouldn't have even gone to war with? Republicans have got to be some of the biggest retards out there...and you should never go full retard.

These people aren't protesting taxes. They're not protesting Health Care Reform. They're protesting Obama. That's the bottom line. Obama could erase the federal deficit, bring peace to the world, and make the weather pleasant 365 days a year and these people would still be getting on a bus, painting signs with ludicrous/hateful slogans, and yelling at the cameras.

Thanks for the warning. I'll be on the lookout for expensive charter busses packed with white people shouting about how unfair life is.

Is this really anything new? The U.S. health care system has consistently been held hostage by private health care insurers and the various special interest groups and pacs they keep in their collective back pocket.

This current dust-up over health care legislation is the latest indication that public education in this country has gone to pot. Almost half of our country is comprised of people who have been told their entire lives what to think – and never taught how to think and reason for themselves. As sad as it is, some of these people are just simplistic dupes, who blindly believe, without examination, the latest lies they hear on Fox "News." Others are just racists who want to see the President fail.

I would encourage anyone inclined to know the truth to actually sit down and read some of the legislation and try to find proof of any of the outrageous claims being made.

In this case, the President should steamroll the minority. Forty politicians should not be permitted to stand in the way of health care for forty million.

First, I agree with an earlier comment...where were all these people when billions was heading over to the Middle East under the Bush administration?

Second, you don't like Obama's ideas? Fine. That's your right and I'll support you for having a differing opinion. But instead of screaming fits about it, why not offer viable alternatives? You think you know so much, offer a different set of ideas!

Look at all the hate coming from the right wing.

I hope we can start seeing some intelligent debate rather then regurgitated chants or hypothetical conspiracy theories. Let's back our stuff up with facts, not a twisted story of how we IMAGINE things will play out. Facts and facts only. I'm so tired of seeing things that are simple MADE up on the spot.

We need some people to step in to reality for a change, to include the people on those buses. They have no valid opinions of their own, and as such I can not respect their thinking when they didn't do it for themselves. I certainly hope they are cancelling their Medicare since they are so against govt run healthcare, it would be the honorable thing to do.

You can only blame Bush for so long, especially since Obama has outspent him many times more than the Iraq war. Wake up people.

CNN, where are your reports on how members of ACORN and SEIU attacked people at townhall meetings? Punched, shoved, slapped and were allowed into the meetings in advance so those from the district could be turned away saying there was no more room.

Nut jobs on parade, how lovely. I'm sure we will be subjected to more of their low IQ "logic", example: Stop gov't spending, but where is my COLA increase to SSN. I don't want gov't healthcare but don't touch my medicare, look at me and my big gun, I'm so cool. The sad thing is no one making $250,000 plus will join these losers, sure folks like Lyndon LaRouche and Dick Armey will finance it, lets see them put their mouth where there money is. Please folks feel free to stop off in NY on your way to DC, we could use the laugh and you can visit the madrassah known as Fox to pay your respects.

Where were these idiots when Bush was spending this money for a worthless war? We could of had a balanced budget with Health care and even fixed Social Security and Medicare with that wasted money! Where were you then? The last three Republicans Presidents have ran us into this ditch and Now they have a few people who follow then blindly protrsting the guy who is trying to fix it. Can anyone tell me who in the Republican party leadership you would call a Christian, I mean someone who believes in the ways of Jesus?

Southern Gentlemen, your comment really made me laugh. These are individuals who have the American Dream inside of them. An American Dream that does not want the government involved in their businesses. That's what is called a free country.

Your buddy Obama wants to control everything which isn't right.

Also, you say these are people who don't want to pay taxes. THAT IS NOT THE CASE. That is faaaaar from the truth. These are people who do not want to see our children's future in jeopardy because of a ridiculous deficit. These are people WHO WORK FOR A LIVING and do not sit and collect welfare or WIC or go to school for free or receive free health insurance and decide not to work. They work and pay their taxes as it is their obligation. They are Americans.

They should rename their group "Tea Bagger Express" or for Dick Armey "An Armey of Dicks". Health carereform will probably be killed or so watered down that it won't have any effect. Ten years from now when 200 million will be uninsured and the rest barely making ends meet because of it we'll be demanding a public option. A 10% per year increase isn't sustainable.
