First on the CNN Ticker: DNC takes aim at Cheney

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="The DNC is taking aim at Dick Cheney in a new ad."](CNN) - The Democratic National Committee is taking aim at Dick Cheney over his string of high-profile media appearances during which the former vice president has been highly critical of President Obama's national security policies.

In a new 30-second television ad set for national cable and local cable in Washington, the DNC asserts many of Cheney's statements have been incorrect - particularly those in which he has argued enhance interrogation techniques conclusively yielded intelligence.

That ad compares those recent statements to ones he made in the leadup to the Iraq war, when he declared Americans would be "greeted as liberators" and that he was sure Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.

"Dick Cheney, wrong then, wrong now," the ad states.

The DNC has used Cheney as a punching bag several times already this year, releasing a string of Web videos and press releases last spring questioning whether he was the new leader of the GOP.

Cheney most recently appeared on Fox News, declaring in an interview Sunday that enhanced interrogation techniques such as waterboarding, considered by many to be torture, were "absolutely essential in saving thousands of American lives."

Critics contend there is little evidence to support the notion that the techniques themselves were what yielded the information.

The last thing this country ever needs is another Dick Cheney in the White House. Good riddance to the scoundrel. Constant lies, reckless foreign policy, and dishonoring the rule of law. No place for any of that in American government. He should be thoroughly investigated, and tried for any and all criminal actions.

I am sorry that the DNC wasted their money – anyone but the diehard Beck/Limbaugh/Hannity crowd has already firgured out that Cheney is seriously deluded.

Mr Cheney's assertion that the EITs are partly responsible for our country being free of attack for eight years fails to cover that almost a year has passed since he hasn't ordered an EIT....and we haven't been attacked. As a matter of fact, we were attacked because he and others failed to heed the warnings prior to the attack of 911...he should be hiding in a cave along with bin whats-his-name....that IS the guy responsible for 911 isn't it?

The sooner he is put where he belongs, in prison, the better for this Nation. Maybe Liz should go with him.

I find it amusing that just after leaving office, Cheney insisted it was time for he and others of his era to leave the stage for the next generation of the GOP. And the man hasn't been off camera since.

Darth has been wrong consistantly since 9/11.
The only time he seems to be even close to correct is when the GOP propoganda machine kicks in on his behalf. The GOP had best wash their hands of this joker before he pulls them down even firther with his rhetoric.
The guy deserves a trip to the world courts to be tried for war crimes against humanity.

You never saw or heard from this guy while he was in office (unless, of course, he was shooting someone in the face) he won't go away. I think I liked him better before!

Dick Cheney needs to be thrown in prison. The Democrats are his accomplices. They had the duty, sworn oaths, to defend the Constitution from this pathogen and they failed to do so. Now the best they can do is throw an Ad at him....put him in jail.

  14. Cheney Should be in Prison

Why isn't Dick Cheney in prison? He lied to Congress and the nation to justify the Iraq War. Thousands of American soldiers have died in that war. He exposed Valerie Plame as a CIA agent, therbeby endangering her life and the lives of her fellow CIA agents.

Dick Cheney only gives interviews to FOX NEWS. He is a lying fear mongering murderer!

And I'm sure the networks will air these political statements without giving it a second thought. But when it comes to running advocacy ads about healthcare, the networks have a different view.

Cheney is right, the Democrats and the liberal media are wrong.

I am waiting for ex-co-dictator Cheney to be subpoenaed to The Hague for war crimes trials and then sentenced to life in prison at Gitmo where he will be waterboarded every day.

It is a shame that that Obama and DNC has to waste time and resources defending itself against the previous administration. Time for Cheney to ride off in the sunset and let us move forward.

Cheney dislikes President Obama so much, I am starting to wonder if he, Cheney isn't a racist. Cheney's attitude toward the President really shows.

He is a liar and just plain wrong... and he's a criminal that needs prosecuting.

Richard Nixon was wrong and needed prosecuting too. He was much smarter than Cheney and knew enough to shut his mouth and go into exile.

When, Lord, when? When will Dick Cheney finally shut his mouth and go into exile???
