WASHINGTON (CNN) - GOP Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina issued a statement Wednesday night apologizing for his outburst during President Obama's speech to Congress:
“This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.”
So even in his apology he still calls the President a liar... Obama made a personal statement, "... the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally." To say you disagree with the statement means you think he is lying. Not only does he lack civility, he lacks honor.
I must ask the republican party..."have you no shame?"
You can heckle the President and conservatives will empty their wallets. Then, you give an apology and America forgive. The best of both worlds.
Apology is a start. Resignation would be better. Any fool can read the bill and see that it excludes illegal immigrants.
Just another example of GOP lack of civility and self-control.
Next time it will be a different GOPer who loses his cool and does the same, then the next time another. These guys brag about their party discipline but then claim innocence when this sort of thing happens. I tip my hat to their ability to have it both ways.
Mr. Wilson,
As a citizen of US, I thank you for apologizing to our president for your disrespectful behavior tonight. No matter how much you disagree with the president, he's your and my president of United states who deserves our respect. We sent him to the white house and he's our president after all, whether we like or not. He's the president of right and left and middle!!! Insulting him means insulting the us citizens as a whole. So, please let's be civil and show some respect to our president.
I accept his apology, now lets get a Health Care bill passed. Joe, maybe you could prove how sincere you are by working with the President to pass the bill.
Act ur age not your shoe size Mr.Wilson. I'm very embarassed for you. You have committed political suicide.
No statement issued can erase this undeserving ,irresponsible
so called congressman damage that he has placed on himself.
This South Carolinan has placed himself in the same catogory
as their butt head governor. Also, GOP congressivemen that
heckled the President of the United States tonight showed how
stupid they are and the low mentality level the GOP operates on.
Evil? "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" -E. Burke
Don't talk to the King like that !
. Let us all hope that the cost that those who would bring the president down pay will be wandering in the political wilderness for many years to come.
Joe Wilson and "his emotions" are what is driving the American public to be scared of Obama and his health care plan. Whether you agree with a health plan or not, think for yourselves and don't let someone who is unable to control his emotions drive yours. If you agree with it for valid reasons, then support it. If you don't agree with it for valid reasons, then don't support it. Joe Wilson needs more consequences than just having to apologize, which I'm sure he was probably made to do.
Wilson should be ashamed of himself. I wouldn't do that sort of thing at a staff meeting at work. But what else can you expect from someone who carried the water for Strom Thurmond?
You weren't listening to the speech, Mr. Wilson. You let your hatred to the President come out and now, you are apologising for being booed by your peers. Grow up be a role model to your mankind, congressman. Idiot.
He should be ashamed.
resign – i expect more from leadership positions joey. maybe my 12-yo should yell 'you lie' to a teacher or principal at tomorrow in similar fashion, role model.
Dear Mr. Wilson
Please substantiate your shouted comment about the President lying during President Obama's address to the nation. If you have something substantiative to contribuite, please provide supporting evidence. If not, please do the USA a favor and get out of the picture. The country does not need any more lies and sleezoid comments in this important debate on the future of health care.

It is people like Wilson who spoil town-hall meetings; i am ashamed that we have congressman like Wilson to represent us and reflect our interest(s).

Get your but out of office, you idiot!!!
You should actually read the bill...if you can read.
Not good enough.
Shame On you Mr. Wilson. You should have known better.
