DNC paints Pawlenty as liar

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="The DNC is out with a new ad painting Gov. Pawlenty as a 'liar.'"]
WASHINGTON (CNN)– Ahead of President Obama's visit to Minneapolis Saturday, the Democratic National Committee is out with a new attack ad painting Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty as a politician attempting to appeal to the "extremists" in the Republican party.

"Tim Pawlenty is spreading lies about health reform," the nearly two-minute web ad charges.

The ad titled "Tim Pawlenty: In the extreme," is a compilation of interviews the Minnesota governor has given over the past few months in which he calls the President's health plan a "joke" and claims the bill "might affect end of life decisions."

Highlighting Pawlenty's recent campaign efforts for Virginia Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell, the ad accuses him of "campaigning for extremists."

Pawlenty, who was on Sen. John McCain's short list of vice presidential candidates, has also been rumored to be one of the leading Republican candidates running for president in 2012.

Friday, the Republican party of Minnesota released an ad calling President Obama's health care plan "risky," and urging him to "slow down and do health care reform the right way."

The President speaks in Minnesota Saturday at a health care reform rally that begins at 1230p CT/130p ET.

UPDATE: RNC Spokesman LeRoy Coleman released the following statement in response to the DNC ad:

“Once again, the Democrats are desperately trying to shift attention away from their extraordinarily unpopular health care plan – especially on a day when the President is bringing his traveling road show to Minnesota in an attempt to sell his floundering government-run health care proposal. Minnesotans, however, aren’t fooled by the rhetoric. The President’s government-run health care plan would increase costs, increase taxes, increase the deficit and reduce health care choice and quality.”

  1. One more nail in the GOP coffin

The RNC does NOT speak for the people of Minnesota. Minnesotans LOVE the President's healthcare reform proposals. And they love their President. Pawlenty is still bent that he didn't get to be the losing GOP VP candidate over Death Panel Palin.

JUST HOW MUCH MONEY $$$$$$$$$ does the Insurance and Drug Companies pay PEWlenty to say these lies? while misleading the
    people of the U.S.

And Chuck Grassley? How much does he get

And Wilson (the liar)? How much does he get from the insurance and
    Drug companies?

And John Shimkus, R-Illinois who was gutsy enough to represent
the citizens of Illinois by Walking out of the Presidential Speech.
I am from Illinois and do not want to be represented by the likes
of Shimkus. HOW MUCH DOES HE GET? I want to know!!!!!!

And for the Democrats that don't want to vote for this important "health
care bill"? We will know your names!!!!! The very Democrats who
will not vote for this bill-I will watch for what you receive from the
Rich, Stinking Insurance companies that are behind this revolt!!!

how about the 8 years clinton was in office? he did nothing about health care. carter? nothing. kennedy? johnson? nothing. nixon at least started the hmo. quit blaming bush for all of your problems for the last 8 years. gore or kerry would have gotten nothing done so please! 9/11 is what cost this country dearly. the left would have us do nothing. don't fight the terrorists. and if you do, don't kill them. don' put them in prison. don't torture them. don't hold them accountable for their actions. this "can't we all just get along" attitude sucks. Clinton was responsible for not doing enough to keep the country safe. just kept closing base after base and cut the military to the quick. but the left hates the military so this is no suprise. he had many chances to take out bin laden but did nothing. what about the war in bosnia where he defended the muslims. and for what? they still hate us. and the loons still want to protect them. Im sick!

Pawlenty is more of the same coming from the Republican Party. Rather than tell the truth on health care reform Pawlenty and the Republicans are distorting fact from fiction to scare the American people.

Reasonable minds would understand that our health care system needs a serious change with outrageous health care costs and the health insurance companies having their way with those skyrocketing costs.

President Obama is on the right track with informing the public responsibly about what needs to be done to start insuring those that do not have health insurance coverage and helping address the serious problem of escalating health care costs.

The DNC hasn't 'painted' or 'lambasted' or 'characterized' anything about Pawlenty. They told the truth, straight up.

    Pawlenty is a liar.

HolY Jumping Education Reform, these folks are so duped, manipulated, confused, propagandized, in Fear. How could this happen if the MSM, Corporatocracy/Government shills are not in unison to corrupt this Nation. That folks are blinded by ignor-ance is amazingly sad to behold. Check out "The Sh9ock Doctrin: The Rise Of Disaster Capitalim" Naomir Klein (The Nation), Naomi Wolf's "The End Of America: A Letter Of Warning To A Young Patriot", "The Family" By Jeff Sharlet, Blackwarer USA by Jeromy Scahill (The Nation). The GOP response is so far from the truth as to be willfully deceptive. The public option is an OPTION – it's a government-funded health insurance company that would offer an alternative choice to the private health insurance companies.

No one in the White House or Congress is actually proposing a government takeover of health insurance. If you like what you have, then keep it. If you're looking for something else, at least you'll have options. Why is that so controversial?

    He is a liar.
The truth is the truth and the Republicans refuse to acknowledge it despite being confronted with it.

They repeat the same lies like robots and brainwash the very people who need health care reform into protecting the health care industry by frightening them.

It is AMAZING to see these people march and shout down politicians because they want to continue to protect the health care industry!

CEOs rake in ungodly compensations that contribute to the high cost of health care. Don't these people realize that that is contributing to the high cost of health care?

These Republicans and their supporters hate Obama so much that they would rather destroy this country with their lies rather than allow him to fix the health care mess. If he fixes it then he would get the credit for doing something that they did not do when they held the power.

All of those people marching and shouting at town halls never voted for Obama, and they will never support him. They lost. Obama and the Democrats need to get the job done and not listen to these hate mongers. Besides, THEY are the ones who will benefit from government run health care.

Voters, the American People. We need the young people to stand
for this and to vote so that the Republicans will NOT WIN in 2010!!!

Cheney said on National T.V. that Amercans "cannot continue to
rely on "entitlements" i.e. S.S.,Medicare, qand UNEMPLOYMENT!!!!!
How much does McCain get from the Insurance Companies.

The young people need to listen what is going on here.
They need to get involved and vote.!!!!!!! especially in 2010,
which the Republicans plan is to "take over."

They will never fight for you or any of your family when you
have problems. Can you imagine your parents being without
S.S. Medicare. It would bankrupt them. And being denied even
having insurance, for a preexisting health care condition!

The Powerful Drug Companies and Insurance are Running
the "NO TO HEALTH CARE DEBATE". The Politicians voting
against it are the very people who get paid Thousands or
Millions to Represent and Protect them!!! NOT US!!!!

We can find out easily WHO is representing the Right and
some of the Left that are padding THEIR OWN POCKETBOOKS!!!

Even if Obama's Health care is passed ,a "trigger" means it can
be easily changed to be a bill with NOTHING to offer. Like NO BILL
    at all!!!!!!!!

How much are the insurance companies paying Olympia Snow and Max Baucus???? It is on a web site somewhere. Look it up and let
    us know??????

Jeff: Partisan bickering, name calling, "misleading statements" from both sides. The American People deserve more than this ridiculous display. President Obama (hereafter know as The Great Divider) is behaving like a spoiled chiild. Is this the Hope & Change ya'll voted for??

And exactly what would you have President Obama do to unify the country? Give in to the Republican/conservative/right wing/Obama haters agenda? That same agenda that they shoved down the throats of the American people for the past eight years that DID NOT WORK? The American people have been shown that Republicans have absolutely no intentions on working with President Obama. Republicans and the right wing hate mongers have basically told us that they want the President to fail, thus they want America to fail. They have called our President a liar,a Nazi, a racist and YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO CALL HIM THE DIVIDER?!!!!! Yeah, right

Let's talk about behaving like a spoiled child. Exactly what is the Republican plan for this country? Exactly what have Republicans done to help bring the country back from economic collapse? Exactly how have Republicans and the right wing shown support for our President and this country? Do you realize that the American people VOTED in Nov. 08 and elected Barack Hussein Obama as President, rejecting Republicans, rejecting Republican policies and ideologies. Get a grip dude, your whine is stupid.

I'm perplexed by the political deja vous I am seeing. The Patriot Act was rushed through Congress with many senators and reps admitting they never even read it. Democrats and Americans decried this as foolish and wreckless. So why 8 years later are the Democrats repeating the mistake? If it's so they can blame Bush for another 10 years they need to stop beating the dead horse and accept that their biggest opponent is themselves. Even with a "super majority"' they cannot get anything done except a $787 billion stimulus package for shovel ready jobs that 6 months later still is less than 20% distributed. Repubs may lie, but Dems just continue to trip over their own 2 feet and blame everyone but themselves when they do. If you want real change vote independent or third party because both the repubs and dems have become incompetent parodies of their past selves inteerested only in self preservation.

during the Bush-Cheney years, you send billions to other countries and to the rich and famous without any funding.
However you could not pass health-insurance and you didn't even try it when you had the majority in the senate and Bush president.
    Now, we should wait,
    Wait for what?
Lindsey Graham, Jim DeMint, where were you proposals then?
You surely voted for an unfunded unprovoked war.
President Obama, please revoke all health-insurance to Senate and Congress until a health-bill is passed that covers every American.

This clown from Minnesota along with his fellow crank and wacko Michelle Bachman seem along with their followers NOT to understand the Constitution. The federal government is IN CHARGE of the country's defense, welfare and commerce. Under that commerce clause every business, including health care, has been ruled in hundreds and hundreds of Supreme Court to be in the province of the federal government. So Gov. Good and Plenty can spout the 10th Amendment all he wants but it is meaningless, just a political ploy. And I'm sure the citizens of his state will run him down no matter how far he runs into the hills or swims into the state's many lakes if he denies them access to health care. Timmy, very intelligent strategy you have there. Repulicans are not ignorant, they are stupid because ignorance is just not knowing, stupid is not WANTING to know.

So did any of the liberals here watch the President address Congress? Did you miss the part where Republicans were all holding up proposals for their ideas? Like selling insurance across state lines, tort reform, and the same verifications to make sure illegals won't benefit that we already have in place for other entitlement programs.

The liberal MSM has programed you to believe Republicans say nothing but "no". But the startling fact is it's the Democrat's who are constantly saying "no" to Republican ideas.

We are going to pay for this with 600 billion in fixing wasteful spending? How stupid are you to believe that?

My guess is he will try to make Blue Dogs walk the plank and jam this down our throats with reconciliation. How many politicians are going to give up their seats remains to be seen. But after Larry Summers said unemployment will remain high for several more years, kiss your Dear Leader goodbye.

Does anyone really believe any of elected officials really care about healthcare? Everyone just wants their agenda passed so their party can claim they were the ones who fixed healthcare. And the people are the ones who are losing.

Meanwhile Chavez, Ahmadinejad , and Putin are plotting their next chess moves.

Obama is clueless and by turning a blind eye to world affairs will severely damage the credibility of America.

Chavez shaking hands with Putin emboldens his supporters and casts doubt on America painting him as "an enemy". Now he is friends with Putin.

    Nice job Obama.

Those who recommend "slowing down" on the health care plan are most likely covered. However, I wonder if they know that they may not be covered in the near future. If they are covered by their employer's plan, they may be out of work and unable to pay for COBRA or their company may not continue to carry insurance when the premiums increase as much as ours has. My organization's insurance increased by 84% this year. 84% !!!

Think about that and think about what you will do when you and your family are no longer covered.
