Wilson says no more apologies for outburst against president

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson said Sunday that he will not apologize again for his recent outburst during the president's address to Congress."]
(CNN) - Rep. Joe Wilson said Sunday he will not apologize again for yelling out that President Barack Obama lied during the president's speech to Congress last week.

"I am not going to apologize again," the South Carolina Republican said on "FOX News Sunday" when asked about pending disciplinary steps against him by the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives.

Wilson said he already apologized to Obama and that the president accepted it. However, he insisted that Obama "was mis-stating the facts," and that Democratic leaders in the House were "playing politics" by continuing to focus on the issue.

Hey Robert, did you actually READ the article before posting your comment???

"However, Wilson and other opponents of Democratic proposals say the plans provide no enforcement mechanism to screen applicants for citizenship requirements. Wilson said Sunday that Republican amendments calling for such enforcement were rejected by congressional committees that have passed the Democratic proposals."

Seems to me they have brought the issue up. It is clear that the Democrats do not want to touch the immigration issue with a 20 foot pole; they stand to lose more than they gain if they upset this large part of their base. It is also sad that everyone keeps complaining that the Republicans are being controlled by special interest groups; seems the Democrats are also being controlled by special interest groups, just different ones!

The HR and Senate are redundant, useless and pointless. Their credibility is zero and there is no longer any prestige within society at being a member. Now the Congressional floor is akin to a TV courtroom with antics, shouting and name calling. Looks pretty 3rd world to me. I've seen similar on video, fights breaking out and throwing stuff at each other. Time to evolve. Time to dissolve the Legislative Branch and look for a 21st Century replacement, maybe logic thought based computers. It couldn't be any worse.

The President's agenda does not include coverage for illegal immigrants. Wilson isn’t being completely accurate. Maybe he was just trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator; of which is probably a majority in his district.

However, on a different note, I've known many naturalized immigrants who worked 3 or 4 jobs for a number of years; jobs that the poor white trash on 'socialist' welfare considered 'beneath' them. Now these same naturalized immigrants have advanced degrees and successful careers while the same poor white trash are going to Palin's cross burnings hoping to score a free hot dog and a Country First t-shirt.

Now why should these successful (immigrant) Americans pay more taxes to provide health insurance to poor white trash Republicans?
    It's beautiful.

Well, to be fair I haven't seen anything that would define Wilson as a racist. Has someone seen something specific? I don't believe it's fair to say someone's racist without strong support for the allegation. On the other hand I love these people that swear they aren't racist then spend extra effort on how Obama's half black, etc. The difficult part for the Republican party is that there is clearly a racist element on the right behind the vitriol and it's hurting them. It's important for me to hear their argument but I'm turned off when I see clear evidence of racial animus: just read some anonymous internet postings. And would issues like the birther thing have any legs at all without the wishful musings of racists? Worse for the Republican party is the fear among the more intelligent members to speak up and risk losing anyone(the fringe) in their concern over regaining political strength.

I believe Joe Wilson has continued in his actions/statements to show further disrespect for Preident Obama. Since he broke the rules of congress and the senate I now see lawmakers are left with no other choice. Some action must sadly be taken against him. This man is quite self rightgeous and self centered. Wilson continues to show no remorse or sincerity in giving his apology. Wilson is an attorney, and does know appropriate the channels and is fully aware of all the rules on the floor. Wilson's professional attorney business expertise background makes him a good expert on word choices and usage. Attorneys lose court cases if words not chosen/presented correctly. Wilson absolutely nows what he has done is wrong, and what he continues to do is wrong.

This has now become neither a Republican or Democratic issue. . Reprsentative Joe Wilson broke the rules. Post incident statement/actions show no sincerity or remorse, so he must be punished.

Cattail wrote: "The reason Pres Obama is lying can be found in the California proposition that was declared unconstitutional that would have denied funds to illegals. Two federal courts ruled it unconstitutional and the Supreme Court would not hear the case."

See, we have this thing called the 14th Amendment. Go look it up.

Caring for illegals will be no different than it is now. Emergency rooms cannot turn away anyone who needs medical care. Not only is it illegal (see Ronald Reagan) but it also violates the Hippocratic Oath. Illegals will continue to use that as their source of care, but THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT PAY FOR IT. They don't do it now and they won't do it no matter what bill is signed into law. The patient is on his/her own. Chances are, the hospital will simply write it off–they know perfectly well they're not going to get their money. As far as proving citizenship in an emergency room, the GOP wants them to prove they're citizens, yet they don't want any wingnut to have to show ID when he buys an AK47? Seriously?

"Joe Wilson was nothing short of a hero at yesterday's Tea Party in DC."

Juvenile public representatives do not make a hero. Neither do a bunch of angry white people rioting over health care reform. It represents nothing but a group of selfish, self absorbed, misinformed group of people who just want to start a civil war. Well I say to those intelligent people out there, the rest of us arent going to take this lying down!! I am sick of idiots crying over helping American citizens with their uninformed Faux News, Glen Beck, and "death panels". Its time to take back the streets before we lose them to more riots like yesterdays and bring back some civility to this nation.

Non citizens can buy the insurance , just like they can buy any product or service (they do it now), they just could not get subsidized to help buy it like citizens can ....Here lies the problem with many conseratives, I guess they want them barred from buying it also, right now they are made to buy auto insurance, or any other service . Thank goodess . with the amount of non citizens here , we need them to help our economy.

What is it with the GOP glorifying Joe "the plumber faux owner/dishonorable public servant" with their nonsense? Wilson's actions were disgraceful and dishonest (read Section 246), yet the Republican lunacy somehow embraces it as a symbol of their (xenophobic) cause. No wonder I left the GOP.

The Right Wing has no sense of perspective. They keep bringing up the fact that Harry Reid called Bush a "loser". But Conservatives don't seem to recognize there is a huge difference between making a bad remark off camera with a hand full of people in some school auditorium and screaming insults directly at the President during a nationally televised joint session of congress. What's more, Reid never used his poor taste as a launching for campaign funds and wasn't held up by the Left as a great hero for it.

And what's with these "Death to Obama" signs everywhere! I paid close attention to the news all during Bush's Presidency and never once saw any Liberal with a "Death to Bush" sign. I'm sure if you dig hard enough you can find some. But the point is I'm seeing the Conservatives holding "Death to Obama" signs every day on the news. The worst I saw coming from the Left during the Bush years is they wanted him to be put on trial for war crimes. There's no comparsion between the two!

Frankly I was surprised that there were no reports of Right Wingers pelting President Obama with eggs while he laid the memorial wreath for all the victims on 9/11. That's just the kind of crass, insenstive level they've lowered themselves too. The GOP doesn't care about America, they only care about care about the GOP.

  14. Never, Never, Again

We are talking about the man that says Strom Thurmond is his hero and Wilson denied Strom Thurmond's half wife- half black daughter, he said she was messing up Thurmond reputation he said Thurmond could never be her father guess what he was this biracial childs father and he had been supporting the mother all those years so it wouldn't get out in the open it was like paying someone to shut-up surprising Thurmond was 20 and this young black woman was 16 years of age, when Wilson found out that the lady was telling the truth about Thurmond being her father he told her she should have kept that information to herself ahe was just trying to ruining his icon life , so Wilson better come correct you never know what falls out of your family tree

Hey Catmom, let's not forget that the Democrats contolled Congress for the final 2 years of Bush's term. They single handedly could have stopped both wars and started to fix things had they wanted too. But they didn't have the intestinal fortitude to do it. They knew had they done that the 2008 elections would have gone far differently. Let's face it, BOTH parties have their heads so far up their backsides neither know when it is sunny or cloudy out. We need a third party in this country to bring the other two parties down to earth so they can start using their heads and do some good for this country or we are done!

Definitely! As Politico reported, because he called Obama out on his lie that illegal immigrants would not be able to participate in the health care program, even though Democrats voted against all amendments to protect against that, Dems are now rushing to fix the legislation so it doesn't smack them in the face.

That is THANKS to Rep Wilson.

One of the best ways to save your country (that's right, SAVE YOUR COUNTRY) is first create a means whereby EVERY AMERICAN has access to reasonable health care. The loudest voices you hear that are trying to put up roadblocks to Mr. Obama's efforts are safe in the knowledge that they never have to worry if/when they fall ill with something debilitating or incapacitating. If need be, look to others countries branded Socialist, Communist, etc. Regardless of the label, they remain progressive in their thinking on the subject.

Joe Wilson is a Joke. In 2003 He Voted for Illegals to receive medical care – under the Medicare Prescription Drug Bill, Section 1011. The Federal Government sat aside $250Million to $300M To address the problem. This section of the Act was renewed in 2008 and will all probabilities will be renewed in 2009.

Oh Joe (the crazy joker) forgot that under the direction of G. Bush he march in line with what ever was done. I don't like the use the race card but his action was truly an action against the man of color standing before him. He stating that he will not apology – I want to state that he will apology – before he leaves this earth God will have him apology before he crosses over to the great beyond.

How about one more apology for being willfully, deliberately and provably wrong? Wilson VOTED on a bill that CLEARLY and UNEQUIVOCALLY states:

Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.

    Congressman, YOU LIED!

He may have apologized to the President, but he still needs to apologize, and sincerely, to the American people for this shameless act of self-absorption.

And he still owes a huge apology to the folks of South Carolina wh must be reeling in their confusion over what the Republicans really stand for. As far as Wison goes, it's starts with disingenuity.
