WASHINGTON (CNN) - Seven former CIA directors are urging President Barack Obama to stop the criminal investigation of people involved in the CIA's harsh interrogations of suspected terrorists.
In a letter sent to the president Friday, the former directors called on Obama to reverse Attorney General Eric Holder's decision last month to reopen an investigation that they say would put intelligence officers in "continuous jeopardy" and make them risk averse.
The letter was signed by former directors who served both Democratic and Republican presidents, including three who worked in the most recent Bush administration.
What is the big deal?
– An investigation will take place and they will disclose the findings or maybe not....
– If you're innocent, prove it
– If you're guilty, pay the price
Their questionable acts put them in "continuous jeopardy", not Eric Holder nor the POTUS.
Stop whining...this process should apply to all not some in the U S of A
there is no one above the law. Thes people who did this were Bush's henchmen.
Nobody wants any of the small potatoes in the CIA
We all want the big rotten potatoes at the top, that lied to the American people, over and over again
Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld, they deserve life in prison for their crimes against humanity, the murders of thousands of Americans, and all the other crimes they committed in the past 8 years
I can't wait until they start the investigation of the Bush administrations role in 9/11
Pay attention people
The real terrorist sleep right here in the USA
The President and the attorney general have separate roles and separate powers (congress & judicial are separate too). I know it's hard for the GOP to understand this especially since the rules were seriously violated and disregarded for eight (8) years w/o any consequences. Even more so because during the last 8 years, the previous administration (GOP, Bush, Cheney,Gonzalez) were above the law which is why our country is so messed up. I know most of us have short memory, but please don't forget, our country is MESSED UP thanks to the last administration. Further more, the president by rule of law, does not interfere with the justice department. And I think our new administration believes in the rule of law – So Americans let's become familiar with obeying the rule of law and allow our new administration to abide by the rule of law. May be we can become a country with intergrity and honor again instead of being viewed as a bunch of wicked, corrupt, thieves.
