McMahon says WWE antics not a liability to Senate run

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Linda McMahon told CNN Friday she doesn't expect her company's colorful antics will serve as a liability to her campaign."](CNN) - World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon, who earlier this week announced she is launching a Republican bid to challenge Sen. Chris Dodd in a Democratic primary, told CNN Friday she doesn't expect her company's colorful antics will serve as a liability to her campaign.

"[Voters] enjoy our product, but they also know that it's an entertainment product that's on television and the company that's behind that is a very strong company," McMahon told CNN's Kiran Chetry on American Morning. "It's traded on the News York stock exchange."

McMahon - who joins a crowded field of Republicans hoping to challenge Dodd - also said she can identify with the financial plight of many of the state's voters, since she and husband Vince McMahon once had to declare bankruptcy.

"We lost our house, we lost our credit cards. We couldn't even rent a car," she said. "So I know the angst of that. I know the embarrassment of that. I know what it's like to wonder, are you going to have a job, are you going to be able to make your mortgage?"

McMahon also said she is running to reform Washington's "reckless" spending.

"You know, I'm a businesswoman and I've been watching what's going on," she said "The mounting debt that we have, people out of work, reckless spending going on in Washington, and I couldn't sit on the sidelines and watch anymore. I really wanted to get in, to do something."

WE'RE ALL DOOMED!! Sorry but Politics, Sports, and Acting...don't combine well. I don't understand how this stupid country can allow some broad who has NO experience, other than watching her husband act like a child and make a complete fool of himself, be in politics. Oh, wait!! She's perfect for our Government, she lacks the experience, the tact, talent, etc. just like our current politicians!! The only reason she'll get into politics is because she has money. PEOPLE wake you not see that only rich people can be in politics...remember growing up and your teachers saying, "You can be President one day." Yeah, right..only if I become a millionaire....what a sad country!

She doesn't stand a chance against the sincerity of Peter Schiff. My money is on Schiff to win.

Well, all I can say is, it's about time somebody new CLIMBS INTO THE RING to GRAPPLE with the issues. I'm sure she will GO TO THE MAT to win the election, but as a newcomer, she shouldn't PIN her hopes on her decision – she certainly doesn't have a HEAD LOCK on beating Dodd.

Its all over for the gop because their approval rating with latinos is at an all time low 14%,their rating with blacks are 3% their ratings with asians are 28%,the gop is going to be very shocked when they only win about 5 seats next year in lose 2 more seats in the senate, and if those numbers continues with minority voters in 2012 the gop is going to have to get 68% of the white vote to squeak by obama because they are getting killed with the minority vote.and the gop chances of getting 68% of the white vote is slim in none, when the right-wing realize they cant ever win again its going to be very dangerous to live in america because these right-wing haters are going to do something very bad i can just feel it,but its the gop fault for dumping their moderate views for very hard conservatives views, which turned off 95% of the minorities.

GOOD...She sounds like a down to earth person. Plus she is a business woman and a person that understands budgets. She is already 10 steps ahead of anyone in the Senate and 50 steps ahead in the Congress. Good Luck to her!

As for the loser lefties comments...I read these every day. They are always the same.

Why don't you and the right wing children pull your heads out of your rear ends and take a good look at what really is happening here in the USA.
Our so called leaders on both sides have been playing politics with our lives for way too long. For the good of power and money.

We need people in there for the good of our citizens and our country

A couple people mentioned how this is any differetn from Al Franken – Mr. Franken has a Bachelor's Degree from Harvard in government.
This is from Ms. McMahon's bio on the WWE website: "After graduating from East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C., with a Bachelor of Science in French and certified to teach, Linda and Vince moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked as a paralegal at the law firm of Covington & Burling." Google is free and easy people.

Why don't you approach Sarah Palin to be a guest referee at the next Wrestlemania. That way all the phonies will be at one place at the same time!

Just look at all the WWE "experts" coming out of the woods on this!!!

"...announced she is launching a Republican bid to challenge Sen. Chris Dodd in a Democratic primary."

Is this really what's happening–she's going to run as a Republican in a Democratic primary–or does CNN need better copy editors?

Typical Republican. Who in their right minds would EVER vote for this woman??? She needs to get a real life! I'd rather see Dodd remain where he is than to see another clueless Republican playing games with this country!

Lost your house????? What to buy a bigger one by claiming bankruptcy? That is what the rich do, right Donald Trump??

Cheney said on national T.V. with his cocky legs crossed, while
receiving money from Halliburton and God knows what other companies with NO BID CONTRACTS, that Americans should
NOT depend on entitlements!!!!! Bush tried to PRIVATIZE SOCIAL

Should the Republicans win, anything whatsoever, the days of
Politicians fighting for the Middle Class WILL BE OVER-OVER!!!!
