McMahon says WWE antics not a liability to Senate run

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/09/18/art.mcmahon.gi.jpg caption="Linda McMahon told CNN Friday she doesn't expect her company's colorful antics will serve as a liability to her campaign."](CNN) - World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon, who earlier this week announced she is launching a Republican bid to challenge Sen. Chris Dodd in a Democratic primary, told CNN Friday she doesn't expect her company's colorful antics will serve as a liability to her campaign.

"[Voters] enjoy our product, but they also know that it's an entertainment product that's on television and the company that's behind that is a very strong company," McMahon told CNN's Kiran Chetry on American Morning. "It's traded on the News York stock exchange."

McMahon - who joins a crowded field of Republicans hoping to challenge Dodd - also said she can identify with the financial plight of many of the state's voters, since she and husband Vince McMahon once had to declare bankruptcy.

"We lost our house, we lost our credit cards. We couldn't even rent a car," she said. "So I know the angst of that. I know the embarrassment of that. I know what it's like to wonder, are you going to have a job, are you going to be able to make your mortgage?"

McMahon also said she is running to reform Washington's "reckless" spending.

"You know, I'm a businesswoman and I've been watching what's going on," she said "The mounting debt that we have, people out of work, reckless spending going on in Washington, and I couldn't sit on the sidelines and watch anymore. I really wanted to get in, to do something."

And exactly what "antics" would she do in such a serious position? Slam someone in the head with a folding chair? If the CEO of Chuck E' Cheese ran for office, would the CNN ticker read "Guys in rat suits and cheap animotronics not a libaility to Senate run"?

Its sad to see that the fact that she was the active CEO of a wrestling-based company that that has to be a factor in whether or not she's qualified for the position, as if just because its "wrasslin'" it puts her accomplishments in question automatically.

No chance Linda, this is not an arena for wrestlers or a quick junkets to a Senate chair, because you were lucky–not skillful in getting your money back–this time.

Maybe she is mistaking Connecticut for Minnesota. After all they've elected such clowns as Jesse Ventura and Al Franken. Oh, on second thought, we already have Dodd – she could have a chance.

McMahon also said she is running to reform Washington's "reckless" spending. RECKLESS SPENDING BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER 8 YEARS AND WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN>

No republicans can run on Reckless spending if they didn't speak out against it during the last 8 years. President Obama will still be cleaning up the last 8 years of reckless spending. At least Obama spending is helping out middle class American that Bush forgot about because he was to busy giving away our tax dollars to the greedy CEO'S THAT BANKRUPT THIS COUNTRY.

McMahon Bankrupt is going to hurt her more then help her.

Is this what the GOP has come to? Wealthy people running for office and ensuring their taxes remain low, while the rest of the 99% remain indentured servants to the nation?

I would have respect for this lady if she was running for something beside" Go't is taking over"

Where was she the last 8 years – oh, that's right – if you attack the country then Americans will gladly allow the "gov't to take over"...

oh no, we can't have someone who's not a profession politician in Washington!

We need people who made their millions as Senators and congressmen and are tied to big business. Men like Chris Dodd. Look at all he's done to help bankers and banking CEOS.

How come the ones that are screaming about the national debt now sat on their butts with their mouths shut after 8 yrs spending to keep 2 wars going, tax breaks for the rich, etc etc. and now when it comes to the less paid middle class they start screaming..LYING HYPOCRITS

I absolutely believe that Linda McMahon is correct with she states that, "[Voters] enjoy our product." However, I don't think the Connecticutt voters that enjoy WWE are a large demographic, or at least large enough to sail to a victory.

THIS STATMENT ALONG JUST LET EVERYBODY KNOW THIS WOMAN IS RIGHT WING NUT! I guest this right wing nut didn't notice Bush reckless spending. Her statement really is very upsetting as if she is blaming President Obama for all the reckless spending that have been going on in this country for the last 8 years.

REPUBLICANS ARE REALLY ACTING LIKE THE LAST 8 YEARS DIDN'T HAPPEN! I AM SO SICK OF THE REPBULICANS FOR THINKING WE ARE JUST DO STUPID AND WILL BELIEVE ANYTHING THAT COMES OUT OF THE LYING GOP MOUTH!

I think it is funny, how all of sudden people are watching the mounting debt. Hey here is a news flash, the doubt has been mounting for years so I think both parties need to quit pointing the finger at who did what because in my opinon both parties suck. And although I am not a huge Obama supporter I think it is lame to try and pin the national debt on a guy who has been in office for only 9 months. At least he is talking about spending the money in areas where over the long run there will be some savings. I am feed up with the Democratic Party, the Republican party, the Independent Party, how about we have just people that actaully plan on doing what the American voters empower them to do!!! Find some common ground and work the issues instead of trying to play politics.

Leave it to the rethuglicans to run a "rassler" for US Senate. Now that's the image that'll win some votes!

It'll work too becasue the "core" of the GOP is nothing but a bunch of crackpot, closet racist evangelicals that think god AND rasslin' are real and that white christians "deserve" to be in charge even if they are not qualified to run a lemonade stand....

Fix that trash you are putting on tv that is not even what many old schoolers call rassling. It is not even entertainment! By the way, when did you and your husband file bankruptcy, it was not under Obama watch. So, apparently you had wreckless spending.
