McMahon says WWE antics not a liability to Senate run

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Linda McMahon told CNN Friday she doesn't expect her company's colorful antics will serve as a liability to her campaign."](CNN) - World Wrestling Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon, who earlier this week announced she is launching a Republican bid to challenge Sen. Chris Dodd in a Democratic primary, told CNN Friday she doesn't expect her company's colorful antics will serve as a liability to her campaign.

"[Voters] enjoy our product, but they also know that it's an entertainment product that's on television and the company that's behind that is a very strong company," McMahon told CNN's Kiran Chetry on American Morning. "It's traded on the News York stock exchange."

McMahon - who joins a crowded field of Republicans hoping to challenge Dodd - also said she can identify with the financial plight of many of the state's voters, since she and husband Vince McMahon once had to declare bankruptcy.

"We lost our house, we lost our credit cards. We couldn't even rent a car," she said. "So I know the angst of that. I know the embarrassment of that. I know what it's like to wonder, are you going to have a job, are you going to be able to make your mortgage?"

McMahon also said she is running to reform Washington's "reckless" spending.

"You know, I'm a businesswoman and I've been watching what's going on," she said "The mounting debt that we have, people out of work, reckless spending going on in Washington, and I couldn't sit on the sidelines and watch anymore. I really wanted to get in, to do something."

Her liablility is the (R) beside her name.... I would think it would be hard to win in CT unless you're a (D). As far as being qualified, heck, if Al Franken can get into the Senate, why not her? She's a female to boot, that has to help her (it would in some circles anyway).

So Dems let's see, 7 Democratic Senators voted to keep funding ACORN and their child prostitution rings and a comedian is one of the Senators from MN; do you really want to talk about who's qualified and who's not?"

Read this statement carefully. This is how many conservatives relate things.

Voting for ACORN = voting for child prostitution. Huh?

If you're an Independent, you're a Democrat (6 are democrats, 1 is an independent).... huh?

Oh, Obama is causing the economic crisis as he has taken over the presidency since Feb.... Huh?

Oh, Obama is the only one who causes the deficit, and he's the only one who overspent.... huh?

Tea party is the majority, and as long as Obama doesn't listen to the tea partier, he's not listening to the people... huh?

Celebrities (Arnie, Sarah and this lady) are not "celebrities, but Brat Pitt is... huh?

    Is my English just bad?

Liberal Democrats = Tax fraud, student loan fraud, racist lies, hate, campaign contribution funding fraud, hypocrisy, fiscal failure, hyper inflation, unemployment, Nationalized auto and insurance industries, low IQ's, tax increases, cost of good increases, global warming, swine flu pandemics, mandatory purchase requirements by Government, and the price of koolaide to go off the chart.

Okay, okay I'll try to make this rhyme. The Republican party has: a brutha' (Steele), a DRUGGa' (Limbaugh), a big time hustla' (McCain). A heffa' (Palin), a wrestla', and a sick child molesta' (John Hathaway).

OK, what we need now is a clown. I mean an actual professional clown. This would top off the GOP crew.

It would even be better if the have a monkey handler, tiger trainer, and a sword swallower. This would allow them to make the Congress even more of a circus then they are already making it.

  10. Joe in CT - not Lieberman!!!

So she wants to buy the election by using her own money! I can't wait 'til Rob Simmons tries to tear her apart in any debates. She will climb on to the top rope while the moderator (probably Al Terzi or John Dankowski) tries to talk her down. In the meantime, the other millionaire running will try a sleeper hold on Simmons while Linda has the moderator distracted!
YEAH, BABY! – Hey, that's it! We will get ESPN to moderate and broadcast the debate instead of the local news affiliates!

Her comments show how living in the ivory (Titan) tower of Greenwich, Connecticut will keep you out of touch with the people. There is a huge difference between being one-half of the couple that brought the circus to town and having the power to truly run the show. Wrestling fans are not marks when it comes to their United States Senators. They will examine each skit Ms. McMahon performed in, sanctioned or used to denigrate people because of race, gender or religion. Reporters will discuss how she and her husband tacitly condoned drug use in order to facilitate the product and will dig up the literal and figurative bodies they have left behind. In building a billion dollar, nationwide business, the McMahons have eliminated competition through underhanded, devious means. They have also underpaid wrestlers through low wages and by issuing zero benefits, including health insurance. Ms. McMahon will have to battle charges of being anti-worker and against the little guy. She will quickly learn that running for public office is not a scripted event in which you can pre-determine the outcome.

She'll be disappointed when she finds that she can't intimidate her opponent by threatening to rip his lungs out, and then she'll offer Dodd money to throw the election. This is so sad; the GOP really has become a circus freakshow.

Wonder how she'll fit in w/the GOP slogan "Just say NO to drugs."

Oh, wait that only applies if YOUR drug use makes ME rich.

Steroids, off lable use of drugs not tested for that use, insurance companies keeping their hold on this country and driving up costs because poor people don't count and who needs a middle class?

    she'll fit right in.

What has this nation come to? Running a candidate that is academically and intellectually challenged is a tragic reflection of the state of the GOP. Once again it seems that the GOP is appealing to the lowest common demoninator by reaching out to its rurual, white, religious, gun toting base. The demographics have changed in this country. It's time to deal with reality, crawl out of the gutters and mature. This country doesn't need any more entertainment.

Who is more qualified; a joker as Al Frankin or a successful business woman as Linda McMahon?? Mrs. McMahon runs the WWE, not Ed.

We are in this mess now due to our leader never had any executive experience, just the mentality of a Chicago politician.

You can say what you want about Republicans only running rich people. The fact is, the Democrats to the exact same thing. It is humorous how many liberals live in a fantasy world where they are ethically superior and everybody else is criminals. But just like conservatives, most liberals are so blinded by their own partisanship that they are truly ignorant to the fact that many people don't have the same necessities as they do. The Democratic party is just as corrupt as the Republican party, the only difference is that Democrats have the mainstream media that will downplay and coverup all their greed and corruptness. Anyway this lady has no chance in defeating that crook, Chris Dodd, because the liberals in the north are just as fanatical about their corrupt leaders as the conservatives in the south.

You might not allow yourself to believe it, but Al Franken is an intelligent man. A Harvard graduate.

The funny thing is that this mess that America is in was not created by the Obama administration, it was created by the reckless policies of a republican administration.

Obama is trying to fix what has been broken.

Yes exactly what we need, shrewd businessmen or women running the government, I'm sure these guys will look out for the people's best interests.

Like putting Mitt Romney in charge, if he runs this government as he did his businesses, he will brake it off into smaller parts and sell it of to the highest bidder.

Government is not a business. The last thing we need is one of these stealing billionaire CEO's running it. We see how well they are doing, they are all going bankrupt and coming back to the government begging for money.

Say NO to these fools, not the she has a chance in hell of winning anyway.
