New DNC campaign targets GOP health care critics

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/09/18/art.obama.0918-3.gi.jpg caption="The Democratic National Committee has launched a tough new campaign to push back against GOP critics."]

WASHINGTON (CNN) - A little more than a week after President Obama pledged to "call out" opponents who make what he calls irresponsible arguments about his health care plan, the Democratic National Committee launched a tough new campaign to push back against GOP critics.

The DNC is asking supporters to pressure individual foes of the president's plan via phone and social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. Democrats are also launching an online "action center."

"Every Republican official must understand: If you lie about reform, the American people will call you out!" DNC Executive Director Jennifer O'Malley Dillon told supporters in a Friday e-mail.

First in the crosshairs: Republican Gov. Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota, who has taken an increasingly high-profile national role this year. The DNC's Friday e-mail asked Democrats to call his office to complain about recent comments over the controversial "death panels" debate, and to take a new Web video slamming the Minnesota governor viral.

The DNC also released a one-minute TV ad, its latest outreach effort to a liberal base unsettled by reports the administration would consider swapping a public option for a "trigger" provision in any health care bill, in a bid to win the support of Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe.

"Fired Up, Ready to Go" - which features President Obama addressing University of Maryland students Thursday - will run on national cable in the Washington, D.C. area starting Monday. The spot will also be placed on key national and local liberal blogs.

We need to start thinking about the insurance companies. The insurance companies need profits, profits at the expense of their customers.
What will happen to Congress if their slush funds disapear?
The only way we are going to get healthcare is if it is profitable to insurnace companies. Congress is owned, and if we don't support the companies which own Congress we might find ourselves without healthcare insurance.
Oh, wait, that's what we don't have now.

    Corporate profits hooray!
    Humanity booo!

Go Congress, keep on ruining America for the next generation.

"....."Every Republican official must understand: If you lie about reform, the American people will call you out!" DNC Executive Director Jennifer O'Malley Dillon told supporters in a Friday e-mail....."

HAHA...Obama's been the only one lying! What a gaff this article is; everytime another tidbit of these disasterous healthcare plans leaks out to the public, the DNC tries to encourage "intimidation..." of critics through stalking, harassing and other strong-arm tactics. I'd like to see some of these GOP'ers take out restraining orders against liberals...better yet, exercise your 2nd amendment rights! These thug liberals are getting out of hand, the very ones that have been urged on by Plastic Pelosi...and yet, she's crying a river about "violence..." Yet, her pets at the DNC are instigating this confrontation with actions like this.....liberalism is a disease...hey CNN, how about posting this for a change? Maybe a little hope too?

The DNC should start out by calling out Obama first.

He said there would be no health insurance for illegal immagrents and two days later tells a Latino Conference that we should legalize the 12 millionthe illegals that are already here – so they will quailify for health insurance.

This is the whole problem with the Democrats – the keep telling us "Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes."

Why bother? Republicans don't want debate, they don't want an exchange of ideas. Trying to engage Republicans is a complete waste of time. To use a couple of old lines, talking to a republican is like talking to a rock so really, why bother?

Several weeks back Obama requested the country to report people for spreading untruths (aka apposing him) about his healthcare reform. Now we know why, he wanted to target his apposers and intimidate them. Why can he just speak the truth? If he was speaking the truth it would stand on its own and he wouldn’t have to resort to these type tactics. This sounds much like the start of 1984.

Sounds good, but give me OBUMMERS phone number so I can call him our on his lies and the DETAILS he choosed to leave out.

He misleads on purpose by leaving certain points out of the conversation.

OFAMMA, I've got your solution. Raise taxes on DEMOCRATS since they want to pay for this stuff themselves.

"I am sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and you disagree with this administration somehow you’re not patriotic. We should stand up and say we are Americans and we have a right to debate and disagree with any administration."

  15. New Tactic for the DNC?

The new tactic for the DNC should include telling the truth.

Obama keeps getting caught in lies. First the illegal alien issue and now the fact that he made up stores in an attempt to sell his healthcare BS to the congress.

Obama needs to come back and apologize to Joe Wilson and the rest of us for him putting us through this mess.

Its all over for the gop because their approval rating with latinos is at an all time low 14%,their rating with blacks are 3% their ratings with asians are 28%,the gop is going to be very shocked when they only win about 5 seats next year in lose 2 more seats in the senate, and if those numbers continues with minority voters in 2012 the gop is going to have to get 68% of the white vote to squeak by obama because they are getting killed with the minority vote.and the gop chances of getting 68% of the white vote is slim in none, when the right-wing realize they cant ever win again its going to be very dangerous to live in america because these right-wing haters are going to do something very bad i can just feel it,but its the gop fault for dumping their moderate views for very hard conservatives views, which turned off 95% of the minorities.

It takes balls to stand up in front of a bunch of impressionable people and lie as he did. I was really taken back at what Obama said and how he said it. He mimicked a dictator. Let me say it again, Obama lied!

And every Democrat offical must understand if they lie about reform we will call them out. Works both ways.
So far Obama has claimed that reform will not add to the deficit and is has even made the wild claim that it will reduce the deficit by $4 trillion.
The CBO has clearly said that the bill that would have been passed back in July that Obama wanted rushed to a vote, adds $240 billion to the deficit. No existing bill as scored by the CBO reduces the deficit, let alone by $4 trillion.
Seems to me Obama should be focused on having a new bill written that measures up to all his claims. Once written, we could all read it and see if it indeed does what he says. Until then how can he really call anyone out on lies when there is no bill that supports Obama's own claims about what health care reform will or will not do.

The Republican Party found the most decent guy they have – Tim Pawlenty – and somehow got him to spew lies in an effort to pander to the most irrational fringe of the Republican Party base.

    It's sad.
