Obama confident on health care reform despite raucous August

WASHINGTON (CNN) - President Barack Obama is rejecting any notion that he has lost ground in the debate over reforming the nation's health care system - despite an August congressional recess dominated by often angry town hall meetings, and a recent march on Washington organized by conservatives opposed to his administration's policies.

In an interview that airs Sunday on CNN's State of the Union, CNN Chief National Correspondent John King pointed out that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, recently told a conservative group Republicans were "'winning the health care debate.'"

The president's response to McConnell was simple but pointed.

"Well, you know... they were saying they were winning during the election, too," Obama told King.

Obama continued to push back against GOP charges illegal immigrants would be able to obtain insurance coverage under his health care plan, saying again he didn't think people in the country illegally should be eligible for coverage.

"Let me be clear - I don't think that illegal immigrants should be covered under this health care plan," the president told King. "There should be a verification mechanism in place. We do that for a whole range of existing social programs. And I think that's a pretty straightforward principle that will be met."

Why is it so difficult for some people to understand that doing nothing to reform Health Care will eventually become infinitely more expensive over time? It does not take a genius to realize that minor health problems left untreated can easily become major ones and thus MORE EXPENSIVE.

    Go President Obama!

In August, President Obama let the fear-mongers show themselves for what they are – I'm talking about you Grassley, Enzi, Pawlenty, and other so-called leaders who currently reign over the confused Republican Party.

In September, President Obama's has come out strong when it counts to get us real health care reform!

And what has been the Republican response to the President?

To turn their follower's FEAR (created by them, the wannabe leadership of the Republican Party) into HATE for President Obama.

    Classic politics of personal destruction.

President Obama and the Democratic Congress: I STAND WITH YOU!

The republicans asked God how they could regain control of the country and didn't like his ideas, so decided to ask the devil.
"Devil, how can we regain total control of the country?"
The devil said, "Well, you must ignore the less fortunate, make
living conditions really hard for middle class, and cater to big
    business and the rich".
They said, "How can we do that?"
He said, "Destroy Health Care Reform, continue to destroy your
president, and vote against anything benificial for your country".
    The republicans applauded the devil

Here in the land of Zion, behind the Zion curtain, I hear the N word in front of Obamas name more than Mr, or President. Utah is the Mormon capital of the world and just about as racist as the south. So folks, remember when the Mormon poster child Mitt Romney runs for President, he represents the village idiots. That small very noise slice of America that gets all of their news from people that make millions from spreading cancerous hate. Hanity, Limbaugh, Colter, now Glenn Beck.

How is it that Fox news will not carry Obama's next speech? Are they afraid that the village idiots will listen, and form opinions of their own. Opinions that are not shaped by the spewing hatred of the ultra right. If Fox is news, they should play all of the news.

Why are the idiots so voluntarily blind folded? If they want this country to make it, it has got to start now! They can't wait, and aid in the destruction of a Presidency.

A former republican, white Mormon embarrassed by some of the people in this country.

Obama plans to take about $500 billion of money promised to pay for little old ladies' health care (Medicare) an redirect it to private insurance companies.

To make up the shortfal, somebody's going to have to pull the plug on somebody's grandmother somewhere.

President Obama’s Special Advisor for Health Policy, Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, put it this way, "services provided to individuals who are irreversibly prevented from being or becoming participating citizens are not basic and should not be guaranteed. An obvious example is not guaranteeing health services to patients with dementia."

Don't take it personal, I just don't want my government pulling the plug on your grandmother.

Millions of Americans are going to be forced to give all they can "afford" to insurance execs. After these poor souls have given all they can "afford" for policies with sky-high deductibles, how are they going to pay for the healthcare their children actually need?

Explain to me how they are winning the debate, they have not debated crap. They complain about this and that, but no "HONEST" debate on how to help the American people.. They solution, as best as I can figure out, is to do nothing, and keep the status quo..You can't debate someone whose hand is in the pocket of the insurance companies....

What planet does this President live on? Does he not get the fact that the majority of Americans are strongly opposed to his Government managed healthcare ideas? What ever happened to: Government of thr people, by the people and for the people? NOT government for Obama and his band of left-wing congressional nitwits!

Katie: I don't know which "god" you are talking about, nor ,as it is abundantly clear, you are not a republican, how you "overheard" the conversation, but as most republicans are not about to pray to the devil for anything..however we will pray for you and advise you to quit drinking the coolaide. I know you all get Obama mixed up with the Messiah....

The popularity of Fox entertainment has risen because they cater to those who cannot speak in complete sentences. Phrases and words are the only thing they can understand. Take away their basics like: drill baby drill, death panels, "No!", pull the plug on grandma, socialist, communist, Marxist, Hitler, and all that is left of the republican party is a Christian coalition, founded in McCarthyism, that is not interested in helping human beings.

Barack Obama is a clown. Winning election and health care debate has no relevance. Besides after coming to white house, he has destroyed our economy, American people have lose jobs and they are losing them even today. This guy has no idea how to manage.

After viewing these tea parties, and viewing the people, and signs they bring, it has become obvious that race is an issue. I've never seen so many hillbillies gather at one time. All white, mostly southern folks showed up. Someone must have announced a pig roast. I am glad that they stepped out into the limelight. Now all Americans can see who the bad guys are. The sad thing is these people usually need help the most help that Obama is offering. Their just too easily led by fear, fox, and racism. Thank God our next generation is more excepting and value people for what they do and not what they look like.

DRB: If you feel like you are behind an iron curtain, then perhaps it is time to head for the coast. However before you move, just one thing to consider: the south is not racist..however the democratic party used to run as racist "dixicrats". A republican president freed the slaves. I have NEVER hear a Mormon use the n-word. People that use that word in any context no matter the color of their skin are ingnorant fools with they are rappers or KKK. Jimmy Carter (democrat) ran some of his first campains as a segregationalist and his relatives owned over 1,000 slaves.
So historically, if you want to be a whitle elitist racist you should be a democrat.....

Now that the loud mouths have quieted down a bit, maybe we can have some sensible debate. One of those tea baggers approached me with a flyer about a rally. I waved her away before she got near enough for me to give her a piece of my mind. I am sure she was silently bent over during the Bush regime, taking whatever was done, now suddenly she has a voice. Those nuts make me sick.
