Joe Wilson passes $2 million mark

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/09/14/art.youlie.gi.jpg caption="South Carolina congressman Joe Wilson has raked in more than $2 million since he shouted at President Obama."]WASHINGTON (CNN) - South Carolina Republican congressman Joe Wilson has now raised over $2 million in campaign contributions since he shouted "You lie!" at the president earlier this month.

A campaign aide confirmed that Wilson surpassed the $2 million mark on Monday.

Wilson and his 2010 opponent, Democrat Rob Miller, each raised more than $1.5 million in the week after Wilson's outburst, which occurred during President Obama's address to a joint session of Congress on September 9.

The House voted to formally reprimand Wilson last week, amidst an aggressive online fundraising effort by the congressman's staff.

Miller is scheduled to visit Washington on Wednesday for a pair of fundraisers on Capitol Hill.

You can't believe a word that comes out of Republican Joe Wilson's mouth....for that matter any Republican. The two million they're talking about is only "play money". Ha.

As I have said many times, America gets the government it deserves. I just have to wonder what level of mental illness and in-breeding warranted his district to end up with him. Creepy.

Joe Wilson and Gov. Sanford is part of the reason why tourism is down in S.C. I can never support soemone who thinks the confederate flag should be flown in the state capitol. And people think his remarks had nothing do about race? Give me a break.

Wilson's opponent Rob Miller is getting a lot of donations, too. Because you dislike Obama, it doesn't mean he lies, and everyone will believe whatever you teabaggers say. You all lie too. Bush lied and 4,300 soldiers died.

Hey Joe, show us the receipts. Its not just that you have no integrity so we want to see proof of your claim, we want to see the names of people who condone your style of politics. Also, please disclose how many canes you received from well wishers in the South.

The problem is that most Republicans wouldn't know the truth if it smacked them in the face. When they hear the truth, they call it a lie. Many of those people would send money to Satan himself if he said something negative about President Obama.

That says more about the people who support him than it does about him. I know it isn't a large number of people supporting him, but its disturbing if even 10 people do.

We see again the hypocrisy of the purported party of 'Family Values'. Here are the true Repulican party values in play; disrespect, demogoguery, incivility, lies, rascism, intimidation and thuggery. The country has left you behind and good riddance. If you think independents and moderates are going to embrace your lunatic fringe rhetoric and shameful behavior on full public display, think again.

Something are not done on the floor when the president is speaking. No matter what Wilson thought personally he was out of line. When you say 'you' lie' you are attacking one's characters, when you say 'that's not true' you are debating the issues. that's a point many people got an didn't like. Don't worry there plenty of us willing to donate to Miller's campaign.

$2M is nothing these days, certainly not an indication that "most people agree with Wilson".

There is a time & a place for vigorous debate, but not during a presidential address to a joint session of Congress. The man was blatantly out of line, showed no respect for his office, the Congress of which he is a part, or the president. I am embarrassed for the good people of S Carolina

Joe Wilson should be in a position to raised that much money, he is the incumbent. Rob Miller would never have raised that much money, if it were not for Joe Wilson. I would not relate that to everyone agreeing with Joe.

Respectable news organizations around the world have confirmed that President Obama in fact did not lie. Illegal aliens will NOT be covered under the new health plans being proposed. Just because the emergency rooms and hospital rooms in hospitals around the country have many aliens in them right now, does not mean Obama lied. It also does not mean that Obama's policies allowed illegals in the country to start with. Who DID allow so many illegals in the country should be the REAL question...
SO, if in fact Obama did not lie, then what is the real reason behind these funds being raised? Would CNN even bother to do a "reality check" on that question? The right is always whining about the liberal media this and liberal media that. Truth be known, the media is protecting the radical conservatives and giving them free air campaign time by covering their drivel everyday. No wonder Obama felt it necessary to go on a media blitz. He's just trying to keep up!
