Obama: global recession could hinder climate change response

"We seek sweeping but necessary change in the midst of a global recession, where every nation's most immediate priority is reviving their economy and putting their people back to work," Obama told a U.N. summit on climate change. "And so all of us will face doubts and difficulties in our own capitals as we try to reach a lasting solution to the climate challenge."

Obama acknowledged that the United States has previously failed to recognize the magnitude of the climate change issue, and he pledged his government's commitment to developing clean energy sources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming.

If, for every $500B spent in Iraq and Afghanistan, we'd spent $10B developing advanced technology and the infrastructure and means of production for the technology (whether that be fuel cell, high-efficiency electric, etc.), the United States would today be capturing the majority of all vehicular market share in the world, oil would plummet in the coming years to $15-20/bbl, bankrupting state sponsors of terrorism, our military readiness to defend the US would be multiplied, the deficits would be reduced or ended, our trade imbalance would be drastically reduced, and the value of the dollar would skyrocket.

Guess its just too good of an idea, and not in keeping with the Project for a New American Century.

I don't know, I think scientific facts might hinder the movement a lil more than a recession,

What a novel idea. Solving two problems with one solution. Why didnt the party of NO think of that.

Again, until man puts God, the Creator of all things first this recession will not grow into the positive..no matter how one tries to spin the line in the media the reality is God is Soverign through all this. He gave us warning both in print and word for 2000 years..yet in the last fifty or so years so many have just shrugged him off....so disrespectfully at that.

I'm so proud to be an American! I've been upset for years that we have been MIA on climate control. The President's message on how we can improve the global economy while protecting our planet is spot on! Bravo President Obama!!!!!

"reviving their economy" doesn't seem to be Obama's priority. He is too busy increasing spending and raising taxes to bother looking at the rising unemployment numbers.

Perhaps Obama can resign and let the economy begin to recover. Even Biden would be better than Obama.

At least President Obama can spell "global warming" and knows what it means. And he ran on a ticket of making global warming and "green" technology an issue. I, for one, understand that getting the world's economy back on track is crucial, but I think we cannot afford to ignore the signs of a climate shift, either.

Reducing our requirements for fossil fuels not only will help our trade balance and OUR economy, but will help meet the goals of reducing our carbon monoxide emissions - and increase our national security by making us less dependent on the Arab states.

Yes the global recession could hinder climate change response...as well as a decade of declining temperatures, more years of temperature decline rather than incline over the last century, another barely existent hurricane season, and despite what "shock value" videos try to indicate, a growing Antarctic ice cap. All of this cooling evidence while greenhouse gas emissions have continued to rise. You know, the gasses that supposedly cause global warming, er...cooling, er...warming...no, cooling...

Please call your congressmen and senator and tell them you don't want cap and trade. We all care about the envoirment, but why should

    1. Our electric and gas bills go up on the average of $1000.00 dollors a year. How can we afford that when we don't have jobs.
    2. My Dem. congressmen voted no on cap and trade because he knows that it will lead to layoffs and firing of workers at the shell plant in his district.
3.Companies will mover more jobs overseas to get away from this tax.

Please be smarter then what Mr.Obama thinks you are. Tell him you want JOBS TO STAY IN THE UNITED STATES.

"The hoax of Climate Change has been co-opted by the media and the United Nations. New evidence that we are actually entering a cooling trend is changing the minds of many scientists throughout the world, but their research and thought is being stifled by the press, by the United Nations, and by politicians."

The ultimate goal of this hoax is the U.N./Obama/Marxist idea of wealth redistribution with a few people such as the despicable and rotund Al Gore making out like the bandits that they are.

C'mon democrats, wake up! Stop believing everything that these fools tell you.
