Wilson accuses Dems of misleading the public

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Rep. Joe Wilson sent a fundraising email to Republicans on Friday.'"]
WASHINGTON (CNN)– The man made famous for shouting 'you lie!' at President Obama is now making his pitch to Republican voters in a new e-mail accusing Democrats of being secretive and misleading the public to advance their health care agenda.

"Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats have continually rushed major legislation to a vote to ensure little to no public scrutiny," Wilson writes in the e-mail sent out by the National Republican Congressional Committee Friday.

According to Wilson, Republicans have asked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to post 'major legislation' online for a minimum of 72 hours before votes are tallied so citizens have the opportunity to read the legislation.

"If we succeed, Americans can finally separate fact from fiction," He added.

On Thursday, Rep. John Boehner, the House minority leader, also criticized Democrats for continuing what he characterized as hurried efforts to force through their legislative proposals.

The American people "know that this majority, especially on major bills this year, haven't given lawmakers much of any time to actually read the bill," said Boehner, R-Ohio. "Each time this happens, the trust the American people have in their Congress is undermined."

Wilson's e-mail went on to encourage donations to the NRCC.

"If we can raise more money than the Democrats, we'll send a message to Pelosi, Obama, and their friends that the American people are firmly behind the Republicans in opposition to government-run healthcare," he wrote.

Since his September 9 outburst during Obama's speech to a joint session of Congress, Wilson has raised over $2 million for his re-election campaign.

"Democrats don't want you reading their healthcare bill – or any other bill for that matter," Wilson writes. "Their legislative agendas will do nothing more than grow the government, raise you taxes and squash individual freedom."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday House Democrats need further negotiations before bringing a final version of a health care bill to debate before the full chamber.

  1. A Proud American THIS TIME!!

Sen. Joe Wilson, you're full of crap! If ANYTHING WE the public, won't have to further suffer your contorted, misconstrued half-truths and outright lies of a healthcare bill that YOU so desperately are trying ANYTHING to deny our less than wealthiest American citizens in benefitting from! Sit down and shut up!

Rushing legislation? The Republican Party of No has held up health reform for months and months. It's not a priority for Republican members of congress because they and their families have health insurance, which incidentally is completely publicly funded.

He planned the comment; He did not mean the apology; He received millions in support for his lack of respect for the office (that the repubs hold so dear but only when the person behind the desk comes in the same package as them); he's on a roll since the majority of the idoits on the Hill could really care less about helping the citizens of this country (if they did we would still not be fighting over HC 30 yrs later) – lets face it, the majority of them are trying to keep their job at any cost.

What? The GOP doesn't mislead the public? Puh-leeze. Sheesh I'm so sick of Republicans acting like a 2 year old throwing a temper tantrum when it doesn't get its way.

This from a man who protected pedohiles.. Strom Thurmond raped a helpless little girl when she was 15. Wilson said these victims should have never brought this public. I find it abhorent that a senator would admonish a victim of rape for makinf their story public.

Unbelievable. The health-care bill is posted on-line already (with audio).

Perhaps if disgraceful Wilson and Boehner had actually taken the time to read it, they would have known Wilson LIED with his uncivilized, deplorable outburst.

    HR3200, Section 246:
"No Federal Payment For Undocumented Aliens."

Shame on anyone who would give money to the greedy opportunists and Wilson's disgusting behavior. The good people of SC deserve better.

And all Americans deserve health-care reforms with the choice of a public option supported by the majority.

Hasnt this guy used up his 15 minutes of fame yet? Shouldnt he go back to trying to keep the Union Jack flag flying over his capital, while telling himself "the South will rise again"...
Hey clown.. you disrespected OUR President, now sit down and shut up. We've got 7 more years to fix this mess, and dont need you or your party of "NO" getting in the way any further.

"If we succeed, Americans can finally separate fact from fiction,"

The republicants are the ones who have spread all those vicious lies to scare the heck out of their constituents; now Joe "you lie" Wilson wants legeslation posted online? This is just another republicant tactic – delay, delay and delay until health care reform goes away. I'm not against my country, I'm not against my government, I'm not against the President of the United States but the republicants are. Come on Dems; you don't need the obstructionists to pass health care reform!

I believe Barack promised something similar during the campaign. Part of his reforming how things are done in Washington.

If Pelosi is bringing in new legislation, it should be vetted on the house floor for at least a month.

Delay, divert, fear monger and lie – It's all the rethugs know.
In the mean time, 45,000 Americans a year die because they can't afford health insurance. The rethugs response: Seek charity...

"Democrats don't want you reading their healthcare bill"

Is that why I was able to read HR3200 online?

That's because Republicans have demonstrated they have no desire to get this done, to be constructive, to be helpful. They don't believe in government, in themselves, anyway. They are good for nothing. Just get in there, collect checks, and make sure government do nothing. That's what they are good for. That's their mantra. Government is a 'boogeyman' for them. Why do they run for government in the first place? Oh ... to get a big check from big businesses to tell government to stay out of the way.

Joe your statement is somewhat vague. You should have said “Politicians are very misleading", that would have been much more accurate.

Anyone who listens to this fool is crazy. He is the liar. This man does not care about South Carolina or America. He is all about party and self like the other republican nitwits. They all bring up the bible for everything and constantly sinning every chance they get. They must have written their own holy book to follow. The things I have seen since the election definitely does not show in my bible. Just hypocrites. Even in this article it is all about raising money. Give me a break. Wouldn't want to disappoint the insurance industry would we Mr. Wilson. Your state is one of the poorest, and I know because I am originally from South Carolina. Just keep feeding the poor and under-educated people nonsense Mr. Wilson. I am definitely hoping that you fail like you hope Obama does.

Go Joe – He is the only one who speaks the truth and stands up for US. The Democrats are lying and misleading. They want to rush this through before we can learn all the details. That's why they refuse to let US read the bill for ourselves, they don't want us to know. How's that promise of transparency working for us?

Just say NO to this lousy healthcare bill, the MAJORITY of Americans do NOT want it!

Democrats – Post this bill on line and let us read it.
