Wilson accuses Dems of misleading the public

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Rep. Joe Wilson sent a fundraising email to Republicans on Friday.'"]
WASHINGTON (CNN)– The man made famous for shouting 'you lie!' at President Obama is now making his pitch to Republican voters in a new e-mail accusing Democrats of being secretive and misleading the public to advance their health care agenda.

"Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats have continually rushed major legislation to a vote to ensure little to no public scrutiny," Wilson writes in the e-mail sent out by the National Republican Congressional Committee Friday.

According to Wilson, Republicans have asked House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to post 'major legislation' online for a minimum of 72 hours before votes are tallied so citizens have the opportunity to read the legislation.

"If we succeed, Americans can finally separate fact from fiction," He added.

On Thursday, Rep. John Boehner, the House minority leader, also criticized Democrats for continuing what he characterized as hurried efforts to force through their legislative proposals.

The American people "know that this majority, especially on major bills this year, haven't given lawmakers much of any time to actually read the bill," said Boehner, R-Ohio. "Each time this happens, the trust the American people have in their Congress is undermined."

Wilson's e-mail went on to encourage donations to the NRCC.

"If we can raise more money than the Democrats, we'll send a message to Pelosi, Obama, and their friends that the American people are firmly behind the Republicans in opposition to government-run healthcare," he wrote.

Since his September 9 outburst during Obama's speech to a joint session of Congress, Wilson has raised over $2 million for his re-election campaign.

"Democrats don't want you reading their healthcare bill – or any other bill for that matter," Wilson writes. "Their legislative agendas will do nothing more than grow the government, raise you taxes and squash individual freedom."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday House Democrats need further negotiations before bringing a final version of a health care bill to debate before the full chamber.

How hard is it for people to understand that employment is a lagging indicator? Even with the job losses at GM and Chrysler new claims for unemployment are dropping. As the economy continues to recover it will take time for companies to have the confidence to start hiring. Additionally, those on furlough will be brought back first.

Of course, the President said that this would take time, but I guess none of you were listening.

You should stop listening to the right wing slander machine and read the bill(s) (at least the parts that are contentious) for yourself. The bill(s) have been posted for some time. I don't know what Wilson was talking about, I get the impression that he doesn't either. I have found Obama's administration refreshingly transparent. Just because the right wing says he isn't doesn't make it so.
President Obama has only been in office for 9 months and his stimulus package and other measures really haven't had time to help. The economy and unemployment doesn't turn on a dime, just ask any economist.

The republicans have been misleading from the beginning. Where do you think low-income or poor families that vote republican come from. You've been had. So when the bill doesn't pass. I'll sit back and watch you continue to complain and pay medical bills that are higher than a Georgia Pine. It's like clock work.

That's right, the republicans have some of you believing that the Obama administration is going to distribute your so-called wealth too. Remember that. Well just FYI, get sick or God forbid one of your loved ones get sick enough to have be hospitalized for any amount of time then watch your so-called wealth disappear faster than it will take you get them examined by a good doctor. Good luck with that.

"Democrats have continually rushed major legislation to a vote to ensure little to no public scrutiny,"

Here's a Republican statement that I can completely agree with!

This was one of Obama's campaign promises for transparency in our government. A promise broken, and there seems to be no intention of keeping it. Too many campaign promises broken...

Those bashing Wilson for this statement should be blasting your own party first. Deflecting the issue by pointing out the other parties flaws instead are failed partisan politics. Clean our own house first, then deal with theirs!

Tine' Ferrer, I suggest you put your trust in Jesus rather than the GOP in "2010". Hopefully, by "2010", you will understand that Obama and the Democratic majorities are the only politicians with your best interest in mind. If you have an affinity for hot air, then sit in your family room with Fox News, Joe Wilson and the like blaring with the windows open.

In the words of Jay Leno "Where is Kanye West when you need him?" Some people don't realize that they do more harm than good when they continue the same rant. Some people might be in his corner but the bad ole days are gone and they are in the minority now.

I didn't know Boehner had any time available to read. Most of the time he is out badmouthing and criticizing anything Democrats say or do.
I suppose we should just rename him "Dr. No" and forget it.

This sad member of congress should resign now. He is a total clown. How can he represent the people of his state?

Can not wait for him to leave, it will be a great day.

Whoa....pot calling the kettle black, time. WHO is lying to further their political agendas? How about the campaign of lies that the GOP has been serving up, scaring the dickens out of people with comments like death panels and giving up Medicaid?

Wilson, do your people a favor. Shut. Up. Listen to what one of your party's founders said: "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt." (Abraham Lincoln)

Amazing how Wilson the racist can say that the Democrats are misleading the country!

We had EIGHT YEARS of a GOP president who LIED.

Bush LIED about the reason to attack Iraq
Bush LIED about Iraq having a nuclear program
Bush LIED about Iraq having WMD's
Bush HID the cost of the Iraq war from the tax payers.
    Bush LIED about TORTURE
Bush LIED about outing Valeria Plame a CIA agent.

The GOP have a long history of lying to the American people, including starting the internet LIE that President Obama is a Muslim.

The GOP LIE that President Obama is not a Natural born citizen!

The GOP LIE about "death panels" that scared our Seniors! Shame on you!

The GOP LIE about undocumented immigrants having access to healthcare!

What upsets me the most, is that the GOPers claim to be Christian, what part of "Love one another as I have loved you" don't you folks get?

Oh that's just precious, Mr. Wilson. The [D]s are misleading the public? Sounds like play #6 out of the now-familiar rightwing playbook: this rule states "deflect blame for your own bad behavior by frivolously claiming your opponent has that same behavior.....note: remember, don't worry about the facts...our playbook is not about facts, and our supporters are not smart enough to care about them." Mr. Wilson and his supporters are a bunch of drama-queen birth-bagging neo-tards.
