Gingrich, Jindal raise $350,000 for McDonnell

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="A reception with Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal raised $250,000 for Virginia gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell."]WASHINGTON (CNN) - Bob McDonnell is having a good day.

The Republican candidate for governor in Virginia will rake in $350,000 on Monday thanks to a pair of fundraisers headlined by GOP stars Newt Gingrich and Bobby Jindal, a campaign aide told CNN.

A Monday morning breakfast reception with the former House Speaker in Falls Church netted McDonnell $100,000 from 125 guests. McDonnell will also take in a healthy $250,000 this evening at a fundraising reception with Jindal, the governor of Louisiana, to be held at the Great Falls home of Washington Redskins co-owner Dwight Schar.

Today's cash haul comes one week after another GOP star, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, helped McDonnell raise $100,000 at a reception on Capitol Hill.

The Democratic National Committee responded to the appearances by calling McDonnell, Gingrich and Jindal "right wing ideologues" who share "extreme positions on women's issues."

Meanwhile, the campaign of Democrat Creigh Deeds is hyping a "major campaign endorsement" from a statewide elected official to be announced Tuesday morning in northern Virginia.

Is Jindal still the governor of Louisiana? I would think he has his hands full trying to help the citizens that elected him.

Here we go. The economy is in the toilet. People are out of work. The government is getting further and further in debt. Yet our politicians have plenty of time to go out and do speeches and dinners in order to raise money for their cronies.

Time to get rid of the party system. Force these idiots to get elected on their own merits rather than what their party can do for them and see how they all stack up. I'm sure most of them will be lacking.

I'll continue to refuse to donate to any political party or check the box on my tax reform to contribute to the election. Granted, it's only a dollar, but it's the principle. Somthing that our elected officials are missing.

  8. Fool me once shame on u, fool me twice... err...

Bobby Jindal seriously thinks he can some day become our President. After that weak rebuttal speech he delivered, it seems more like wishful thinking. LOL!

Anyone remember Jindal's speech? That was the worst. So embarrassing. It still makes me cringe.

Romney, Jindal, and Gingrich all buy into McDonnell's view of women's rights. Bob M. may have raised a lot of money, but that does not improve his character.

Jindal and Gingrich only further prove McDonnell is the candidate of far-right fundamentalism with narrow views against working women and others. No thank you.

The moderate candidate for VA is Creigh Deeds with his bipartisan approach to governing.

  12. If the insurance companies win, YOU LOSE

Jindal, like Pawlenty, has turned himself into a clown-like puppet.

Gingrich is like a clown, but something much worse and more insidious than a snake.

Here is a little prediction for the lefties...

Israel will hit Iran within two months and Obama will have to figure out where we stand as a Nation, very tough decision for him. The economy will continue to sputter with unemployment reaching all time highs, a given. The stimuless plan and other great liberal ideas will evidence themselves for the entitlement programs and redistribution of middle class wealth that they are and in 2012 we will have a new President leading our Nation. One that has experience as a leader, one with a broad range of support from qualified people, it will be a Republican or maybe even an Independent. It will NOT be a Democrat, that is a for sure after this train wreck of a Congress, this is making Jimmy Carter look like the whiz kid!

Hugo, I could not agree with you more. We have really great choices for 2012, so we will win. Now that President Obama has ful-filled most of the prophecies about him (except he is not THE 'anti-christ).
The tea party patriots will be wearing 'I-TOLD-YOU-SO' buttons in 2010, and working 'oh so passionately' to defeat this group of dreamers. It is as natural an outcome as day following night.
No that is not a racist statement, just because night is black.

I was wondering what had happened to Jindal. Palin was getting more coverage even when she left politics.

  22. Can we clone Bobby Jindal?

Governor Jindal has great ideas on true Health Care Reform for our great nation. He should do a better job of letting them be known, because American's are listening very closely to both sides of this effort. I am still trying to figure out why some really great Democrats, not just the blue dogs, support Obama's failing policies. It will be
a train-wreck in 2010... but we won't be able to celebrate the gains we will make as conservatives. We will be too busy dealing with the mangled mess that liberals made of our great nation.

The usual political fundraising crap, while more Americans die and are maimed for life (physically and mentality) in the stink holes of Iraq and Afghanistan. At least these politicians and power brokers are predictable and consistent. .
