Crist stands by prediction Obama could face massive defeat

(CNN) - Florida Gov. Charlie Crist is standing by his recent prediction that President Obama may be headed for a massive electoral defeat similar to that which President Carter faced in 1980.

[It] may happen again," Crist told CNN's John Roberts on American Morning Tuesday. "What I think has occurred is that in 1976 the people wanted a changeā€¦I think the same thing sort of happened last year in America."

"What change we got may not necessarily be the change that America wants," Crist continued. "What I mean by that is that every day you get up and the government has taken over some other industry, auto industry or banks or whatever it might be. I think that the change that's coming about is a little too fast, little too furious."

Plagued by a sputtering economy, an energy crisis, and the Iran hostage ciris, Carter won just six states in 1980 - the fewest by a major-party presidential candidate since 1964.

Crist, who is vying for his state's GOP Senate nomination, recently vowed to a gathering of national conservatives that their party is poised for a rebound in the wake of two straight disappointing election cycles.

"America is awake and we're coming back," he said Friday at the biennial Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference on Mackinac Island, Michigan.

I predict Charlie Crist will eventually come out of the closet – one way or the other.

I'll start to take this idiot seriously when he puts some money on his prediction, otherwise he is just another right wing cretin.

There are more signs that Crist is right than there were during the Carter administration. Hussein makes Carter look like the greatest leader of the century.

Would Mr. Crist have preferred that all the banks fail, the auto industry and its thousands of spin-off industries fail and that the US and then the rest of the world would have gone into a depression not just a bad recession? Would he prefer to have millions of people suffer or go bankrupt because they have no health insurance? Having spent time in his great state last winter, it is obvious he needs to spend more time fixing his own state as its governor. He wanted the stilmulus money and he needs to put it to good use instead of biting the hand that fed him.

The one thing that Crist and the other former-Republicans-now-turned-social-autocrats – fail to mention with all of their bombastic predictions is that President Obama inherited a mess of their making and the American people are not so stupid they can't connect the dots between the actions of the political partythe caused the problems and the current meltdown we are in now. Just looking at the most recent polling should tell these morons the truth – most Americans would trust the Taliban before they would trust a Republican to solve this country's problems.

In 1980 we had Ronald Regan. The GOP doesn't have anyone even close to Ronald Regan. The GOP is made up of spineless fear-mongers; the kind of people who are making Ronald Regan do 1200 RPM in his grave.

So no Mr. Crist, I didn't vote for you for Governor, and I won't be voting for you this time for the Senate. You've shown you're lockstep with the Grand Obstructionist Party, and I reject everything you stand for.

Why are you repeating Rush Limbaugh's talking points?
And, when are you going to come out of the closet?

He he he he don't the REPUBLICANS WISH....I suppose repeating their lies over and over and over they hope to MAKE IT SO......they sure as Hades are trying hard enough.

Any real honest caring American would not vote for the present crop of republicans. They would fly to the moon first. You can see how out of touch with the real America these republicans are for even thinking such nonsense.

Americans have short memories. There are a lot who listen to the republican informerical channel Fox News, but there are more who have the intelligence to know and REMEMBER Bush and the republican majority that was in congress PUT THIS COUNTRY IN THE MESS THEY ARE IN.

Mr. Crist is correct in his prediction. The only way his prediction will not come to be is if the cowardly democrats get some cajones and fight for what is right instead of cowering in fear every time a right wing radio commentator utters something negative. The same people who fought rabidly against Hillary Clinton are now hiding from the Republicans! When are you democrats going have any guts.

Let's try to be clear on this.... the banks asked the government for help. The auto industry asked the government for help. it wasn't the other way around. I love how these companies screwed up and then they can still pass the blame to the government... and then government officials back it up! All these politicians need to get new jobs. VOTE ALL OF THEM OUT!!!!

Nice to hear from this man that America is awake and is coming back. Good to hear from a man who was asleep during the 8 years of the Bush administration when the Republican sold our soul to the devil: communistic China which owns us now. Where was he when we lied to
and misled into war in Iraq. Where was his outrage when we found out that our army tortured under the Bush administration.
Where is he now when 40 million Americans are without health insurance! Is he outraged? No he just can't stand it that we have a new presidents with ideas other than let's leave America as is.

    Yes America is awake finally!

we are getting out of the mess of 8 years of the GOP & Bush . It won't happen overnight. But we don't want the GOP back. They are far worse.

We can only hope that Crist is right. The MAJORITY of Americans do NOT want the healthcare reform they are rushing through. What's the hurry to rush it through when it won't even be implemented until 2013..........after the elections. They wouldn't want it to start before then, because they KNOW it is going to be a disaster.
