Franks aide clarifies 'enemy of humanity' comment

WASHINGTON (CNN) - A spokeswoman for a Republican congressman who called President Obama "an enemy of humanity" said Tuesday that he should have clarified that he was talking about the president's policies on abortion.
Bethany Haley, a spokeswoman for Arizona Rep. Trent Franks, told CNN on Tuesday the congressman was actually referring to "unborn humanity" - a specific reference to the president's policies on abortion.
Franks used the term in a speech to conservative activists Saturday in St. Louis, pointing to Obama's decision to aid international family planning clinics that perform abortions.
"A president that has lost his way that badly, that has no ability to see the image of God in these little fellow human beings, if he can't do that right, then he has no place in any station of government and we need to realize that he is an enemy of humanity," Franks said.
Franks' speech was recorded by the liberal group People for the American Way.
In an interview with the Washington Independent after the speech, Franks also renewed a call for Obama to produce a copy of his birth certificate to end the questions by "birthers" who doubt the president's birthplace. Franks said he had once considered filing a lawsuit to get it, but did his own investigation and became convinced that the president was born in the United States.
Haley called the controversy a "silly debate" and said it is "ridiculous that the president doesn't just produce [the birth certificate] and make it go away." In the interview, Franks implied that the president might be trying to hide something else.
"Probably, Barack Obama could solve this problem and make the birthers, you know, back off, by simply showing us his long-form birth certificate," Franks said. "That'd solve the problem. There's some other issue, I don't know what it is, that he doesn't want people to see the birth certificate on."
For Republicans everywhere: "Better to be thought a fool and remain silent than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."

He says he wants to insure that you have adequate health care, so he "helps" you by taxing you (via health insurance mandate). Since when is it a requirement to buy health insurance in order to live – (i.e., if you don't buy insurance, the IRS police powers will be used to fine / imprison you)?

Republican Franks needs to be fired, just like a lot of the other members of the GOP. They have no respect for other people's opinions. They believe their god and above everybody else. Our president is a good man.
How about protecting the ones that are born every second all over the country ? President Obama is trying to extend health care benefits to all Americans, so how come you, republicans, are trying so hard to stop this effort to protect these lives??

I propose a solution... make abortion illegal ... and All of the anti-abortionists will be required to adopt the children of women who have had unwanted pregnancies. They will have to feed and clothe and shelter the women until the child is born. They will have to raise the child without any type of assistance, no medicaid, no money for adopting the child, no food stamps ect.. Then I'm sure they would be screaming for abortion to be legal again. Better yet...why don't they start with educating young woman... oh right they are conservatives...education is the first thing they cut

1. Say whatever the heck you can think up, but make sure it's somehow controversial, mildly offensive if possible.
2. Wait for the media to get wind of it and hen latch on like a starving lamprey, sensationalizing and selling the "controversy" to the mindless masses, who lap it up in pavlovian ecstasy.
3. Make a press release to address the "controversy," offering a veiled and insecere apology if necessary, but making sure to ramp up the this-issue-is-black-and-white talking points.
4. Make popcorn and watch the masses going canibal over it.
5. Profit. And if you don't think they profit from it, then ask yourself why they keep doing it.

Good for you....right on...if we don't respect the life of an innocent unborn child...we have fallen pretty deep. It seems to me that if somebody kills a pregnany woman they are responsible for two lives. How is abortion any different? watching these kids beat each other up on the buses and on the streets, even until one young innocent young man gets killed...something is going on in our society. A child dies of starvation every five seconds and every thirty seconds of disease somewhere on the globe while Americans spend tens of billions of dollars on dog food, beer and cable television and rewards greed with hundreds of million in compensation. If we would all give up one soda or one cup of coffee each day and made sure that effort went to help children everywhere, the choice "might" become one that chooses to have and care for a child.
