MoveOn.org targets Democrats on public option

WASHINGTON (CNN) - MoveOn.org is targeting three Democratic members of the Senate Finance Committee who voted against provisions that would have called for a new government-run health insurance program.

The liberal advocacy group announced Wednesday that it will release radio ads on Thursday condemning North Dakota Sen. Kent Conrad, Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln and Montana Sen. Max Baucus, who joined all 10 Republicans on the committee on Tuesday in rejecting two amendments that would have included a public option in the health care bill.

In the ads, the group says the senators "sided with the special interests and insurance companies" over their constituents.

The spots will run for a week in the senators' home states.

We already have "public options" to provide healthcare - they're called Medicare and Medicaid. And they're both an insolvent mess, fraught with waste and fraud (just like Social Security, another public option to take care of retirement, hah!).

So why should the American people think Washington can do any better with health insurance for all of its citizens? I have no faith that the Federal Government can "change" its ineptness.

Move away from another public option that's bound to fail. And move back to freedom and liberty - and capitalism.

    This is excellent news.

I have written to my Congessmen and both Senators to say that, since August 2009, I have been contributing to Health Care for America NOW!, to FDL Action’s ad to tell Arkansas Senator Blanche Lincoln & Representative Mike Ross to stop doing the bidding of the insurance companies, and to Democracy for America and Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC) for their ad to pressure Montana Senator Max Baucus to support REAL health care reform.

Americans want at a minimum something like Sen. Schumer’s “Level Playing Field” Public Option.

It's sad that we worked so hard to get Barack Obama elected president and Democrats elected to majorities in the House and Senate

AND YET WE STILL HAVE TO WORK HARD TO MAKE THEM STOP DOING THE BIDDING OF THE INSURANCE COMPANIES

AND TO START LISTENING TO THE PEOPLE, THEIR CONSTITUENTS, ON AN ISSUE LIKE ENSURING QUALITY HEALTH CARE FOR AMERICANS.

MoveOn.org is wrong. Most Americans (Democrat, Republican and Independent) do NOT want socialized healthcare, do NOT want a government option, do NOT want government panels that ration care and do NOT want any more taxes or any more government involvement in their healthcare.

I have decided as a republican to support the Public Option. After all, if Health Care is suddenly a right, then I shouldnt be paying my employer for my "right". I will be dumping my benefits for the public option.

So we should have let the investment banks go under if they couldn't compete, but God forbid we should provide competition to insurance companies? Do you see the contradiction here? Have a nice day!

Why do we get upset when members of a political party have differing views or vote differently from the rest. Since when is it good for everyone to have the exact seem thoughts on things(healthcare etc.) Is no one allowed to have their own feelings?

    Politics make me sick

All of the GOP & Democrats voting against the Public Option is being paid by the Insurance Companies, Pharmacies, & All Groups who are controlling our dollars –
The American People have made insurance companies rich – they did not suffer during the economic crisis – everyone must see that – the GOP Has Nothing to offer the American People they need to disband –

We the American People need to pay only $503.00 yearly as do the politicians for healt care –
We Must Have Affordable Housing, Health Care & Jobs America is Not just for the Rich to become richer and the Poor to become porrer.

    We Need Real Change

If you are going to vote like a Republican then you should have a R after your name. Instead we can just make the D in red lettering. That way you won't get any opposition from the GOP. A Republican already in the house.

GOOD......... BRAVO MOVEON! We need the Public Option. It is the only way that we will have COMPETITION.

COMPETITION IS THE FOUNDATION OF CAPITALISM! WHY IS IT THAT THE GOP ARE AGAINST IT?

45,000 AMERICANS DIE EVERY YEAR FROM LACK OF HEALTHCARE

The GOP would have a fit IF 45,000 Americans were being killed by terrorists every year.

But....... when 45,000 Americans DIE from lack of healthcare every year its...... OK with the GOP!

    HYPOCRITES!
