WASHINGTON (CNN) - MoveOn.org is targeting three Democratic members of the Senate Finance Committee who voted against provisions that would have called for a new government-run health insurance program.
The liberal advocacy group announced Wednesday that it will release radio ads on Thursday condemning North Dakota Sen. Kent Conrad, Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln and Montana Sen. Max Baucus, who joined all 10 Republicans on the committee on Tuesday in rejecting two amendments that would have included a public option in the health care bill.
In the ads, the group says the senators "sided with the special interests and insurance companies" over their constituents.
The spots will run for a week in the senators' home states.
Funny how the public option would pass in the house, where representation is apportioned relative to population size, while it would not pass in the senate where states with relatively small populations have equal representation with states having larger populations. This tells me that the majority of Americans (the real Americans?) want a public option and that we are, once again, being held back by the, how shall I put this politely, less than progressive minority and their well-funded representatives. Have a nice day!
The public option will be added before the bill is finished. The "Die Quickly" alternative is completely accurate as representing what the Repubs actually stand for and want to see happen. These people have the illusion that they are patriots and Christians, but in fact they are neither.
good !
these democrats should be ashamed of themselves...we do not need these weaklings
Moveon.org does NOT care that the MAJORITY of Americans do NOT want the public option. Moveon.org has no credibility and the Democrats who voted against the public option and with the will of the people will be supported. Moveon.org can just move on.
I just love it when the Leftists eat their own.
Can I get you thugs a napkin?
Yum, yum. Watch the Democrats eat their own. Tastes good. Hope MoveOn can fund more progressive politicians to challenge these Democrats.
MoveOn.org is after Dems who voted against the opponents of the public option, and centrists Dems and reps are after Dems who voted for it. Pretty soon, there won't be any Dems left.
Now if we can just get rid of the neo-cons too...
The Democrats are coming unglued!
I can't believe any human being that would side with the insurance companies over the health of a person. Someone's child, mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, niece or nephew is dying right now...all about the republicans and three democrates refuse to cover them. No surprise that the Republicans don't want to help people, but a democrates...that's not what this party is all about.
Please help us with the public option, Obama promised us!!!!
Could someone please tell George Soros that if he wants to run the government then he should RUN for office?
One person, one vote, right?
That doesn't change if you have billions of dollars you made by betting against your own country's economy.
Unless he is a constituent of one of those Senators, then he should back off.
Yes the government is already in all of it up to their necks. They have already raised my BlueCross/Blueshield 15% for 2010. Thanks Obama. We are all fighting just to survive and you are killing us big time. This is not the time to raise everything on us to pay for your many programs that are wasteful. Obama is trying to get in everything that he said he would during his campaign. Its crunch time and he will stop at nothing to raise our taxes, insurance and the list goes on and on. Pray people!
Nice move! Remember what the Republicans did when a few Republicans voted for the Reinvestement and Recovery Act. That's why they all dance to the same really boring, monotonous beat.
Go for it! I for one will not be voting for Conrad.
Nice try MoveON.org. But actually the Democrats voting against the public option ARE siding with their constituents. So if the ads point out these Democrats voted against the puclic option, the effect of the add will be to increase their constituant support.
At least the liberals have finally figured out it is not the powerless Republicans who are blocking health care reform. The Dems are locked in a civil war over the pubic option. And Obama is taking the cowards way out and voting present on the issue. Says he favors the public option which encourages the liberals to hold their ground saying that the bill must have it. And then he says it is not essential which encourages the Blue Dogs to hold their ground because Obama is willing to give it up. But you got to admit, Obama sounds sooooo smart and sounds soooooo good when he talks. Everyone should just love him no matter what he says.
Good for move on dot org. Those dems were bought off by the greedy that kill rather than pay claims. Some day maybe they or their family members will be told "claim denied" Go die, by insurance greed.
They are not listening to 65 percent of America and may well be voted out of office. I sure hope so. That would be a gain for America. But most republicans are against a public option so I hope next year they too are all defeated by us. We need representatives, not money grabbers.
Of course the GOP will have you believe this is all about "government control." Somehow, they're able to trivialize real human lives, uninsured, and find a way to show that insurance companies apparently have our best interests in mind, despite profit.
But, apparently, the big evil US government wants to control everything and that's their reason for insuring the uninsured.
And government care will be "disasterous," but Republicans are afraid of losing Medicare, which is government-run health care.
Confused? Yeah, you should be. That's what they want.
It's truly American to vote against your own interests which equals big gains for corperations... Why? Beacuse we let them play with us.
But by all means, please keep supporting the poor, terribl;y rich insurance companies. They need our protection, our care as it were.
I agree...how sad...many of us voted for Democratic representatives hoping to break the special interest groups' hold on Congress.
If the Democrats don't start working together, we will never have the change needed to get this country back on the side of the people!
GET IT DONE!!!!!
Each and every Democrat who votes against health care reform with public option should be voted out of office by the people. It is a travesty and inhumane that we are having to deliberate how to care for the people of this country. Let those who oppose this healthcare reform loose their cushy jobs, their lobby kickbacks, and their healthcare to understand what millions of Americans face daily. They along with all the Republicans are JERKS! What does this say about their character and integrity. They are willing to bargain with the health of this nation for what? To sell their souls to the highest bidder. Well the devil is waiting and willing.
Move on needs to have it's status revoked. They are a domestic terrorist entity. They cause strife and hatred between us Americans. Any entity that pits people against each other is a hate group.
Moveon.Org. Aren't they the same pathetic organization as ACORN???
Don't forget that whatever kind of health care reform bill is passed, you (the ordinary citizen) may be assured that Members of Congress will not be covered by it. Neither will any of the rest of the rich, famous and powerful nation wide. Our President will certainly never be under it, or his family, not even for one second for the rest of their lives. The power brokers and those people of wealth will always receive deluxe medical care in private clinics by the best physicians. If they even get a cold, the people who run the clinics will be out in front rolling out the red carpet for them and kissing their butts when they arrive. You can be sure of it, but you will never have that kind of medical care unless you happen to get power or money or both at the same time. These are the same people who always make sure that they and their children never have to serve in the wars they create. Yes indeed folks, it is as some writer (whose name I forgot) once said something like 'the rich are different from the rest of us."
Some people need to get a clue a lot of democrats who are not supporting this public option are doing it based on what their voters want. Get it people there are some democrats and some republicans people regular folks like you and me who may not want public healthcare and their senators are beholden to them NOT the president and not us who didnt vote for them.
run the ad longer and CRUSH them! they've already taken the $ from the insurance companies and are stuck in a corner. face it you three... no matter how you come out of that corner – you are in trouble.
they should all be sent to some far away island with there republican friends in tow ....rich mans political ways show well here once again to the american people.give the banks billions over the past few years give poor americans no health care ..
