Chicago eliminated from hosting 2016 Olympics

COPENHAGEN, Denmark (CNN) - Chicago, Illinois, has been eliminated from hosting the 2016 Olympics, the International Olympic Committee announced Friday.

The vote came just hours after President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, delivered a personal pleas to the Olympic committee praising the virtues of his adopted home city.

The right-wing pit vipers can't wait to dump on Obama for this. Of course, if he did not go to Copenhagen, they would accuse him of not doing enough.

Let me guess. It is GWB's and the Republicans' fault.

Good. Now maybe he can concentrate on the job here at home. Must be a real ego-buster, though (HEHE)

That is too bad. But it is time to move on.

Speaking of that, Sen. DeMint of South Carolina is trying to meet with the military group that ousted the elected leader in Honduras. With Mitch McConnell's help, the two of them are encouraging the group to ignore America's demand to let the democratically elected leader to return. While DeMint's action is treason against the United States, it will be interesting how the right wingnuts will justify ignoring the Logan Act.

"A" for effort Mr. President. But the Olympics never having gone to Latin America makes Rio the odds on favorite.

    A very good decision.
What on earth did they expect Oprah to achieve over there and as for the President , he should have stayed home and looked after far more important matters at hand.

I'm not surprised... too much crime. Too many murders. Great job though Mr. President! Thank you for your efforts! You are the hardest working and one of the smartest Presidents this country has ever had.

We are number 4, we are number 4, we are number 4!!!!

Congratulations Obama's and Oprah and hangers on, that was over one million dollars spent that won't go to feed the poor or stop Chicago youth from killing each other.

Unlike Grayson, I apologize, I apologize to the non-sheep that have to deal with this ineffectual "president" for three more years, I of course apologize for the nitwits that elected him as you know they never admit anything.

Looks like it would have been best to have focused on the war instead of the games.

No surprise here as the proposal was not in the sprit of the Games,
but in the spirit of ego and dollars of paying for election support and
it took others to point it out to all os us.

Thank goodness. Chicago isn't a city we'd be well served to showcase to the world while our image is already in the world's toilet. Beyond that who do the Obamas think they are to even be involved dispite such involvment is against proticol? The Obamas are such an embarrasment. We're even being ridiculed by the French of all people. Such a mistake. C'mon 2012.

Mr. President use all of my tax dollars you need to get this country running.

It amaze me to see all of these so called educated idiots who think you were suppose to come into office and run a country off of nothing.

He has accomplished more in 9 months then Bush has in 8 years.

The problem is congress never had to work so hard. Get over it and put a sock in it already!

This is the best news all day. Thanks CNN. I love to watch the President fail. I guess bringing his dog along with him didn't help much. Maybe he will learn to muzzle her...lol. So does this make the whole world racist since they did not agree with Obama? hahaha. This is awesome. Way o go Olympic committee. Well done. You guys sure put Barry in his place. hahaha.

It appears that Chicago-style politics only work in the US. Congratulations on the waste of taxpayer money and your time Mr. President. Please explain to the 10% of Americans that are out of work how this trip was a priority for our nation.

America owes the Olympic committee a big thank you.
If Chicago had gotten it Obama would have poured billions of borrowed tax payer money into it and most would have flowed into the pockets of Chicago crooks and gangsters including his high level advisor Valerie Jariett..

Excelent!! They just saved the Chicago taxpayers hunderds of millions od un-recoverable expense. Obama is quiclky becoming a liability to anything he gets involved in.

I guess the obamas speeches which centered on themselves vice on chicago fell flat. This is good news because the american taxpayer would have been stuck for billions and billions of dollars for this fiasco. The whole thing was for the obamas to do alot of payback for the chicago mobsters like daley to make a fortune. Thank goodness, the IOC did not appreciate their self serving speeches.

I hope a lesson has been learned. Your apologies fell on deaf ears. I guess you will have to pay off your debts some other way. FAILURE. PURE FAILURE.

Our enemies don't love us regardless of your conciliatory apologies.

Good. We couldn't afford to foot the bill. Did you know that the FED GOVT. was backing the cost of the games. Perhaps the President now understands that the world does not revolve around him. I would like to see Rio win. An Olympics in South America would be a nice change, especially for a nation on the rise like Brazil.

This is probably for the best. The timing was not right for this endeavor nor was the location. Chicago doesnt need to be in any further debt. They have more important things to deal with at this time.

Many of you who are posting these negative comments againsts your own countrys' efforts shoud be ashamed to call yourselves Americans. Some of you probably wouldn't even live to 2016 to witness the event anyway.
