Even in time of war, 'pork' still reigns

WASHINGTON (CNN) - President Obama campaigned on a vow to end wasteful spending, but even in a time of war and record deficits, pork still reigns on Capitol Hill.

Funds meant to help U.S. troops at war are instead being spent on senators' pet projects that are geared more toward helping their home states.

Utah National Guardsmen returning from risky deployments receive a gesture of appreciation, a video scrapbook about their battalion and tour of duty. The video is produced by a business in Utah called StoryRock.

Utah's Republican Sen. Robert Bennett wants to help his home-state company take their project nationwide, so he's secured a $5 million earmark in the defense spending bill.

That $5 million comes from the fund that's supposed to pay for troops' basic needs such as food, fuel and ammunition.

But Bennett says the project saves money in the end.

Well I guess Obama has satisfied those liberal plants pretending to be conservative that claim he is a Muslim. Yup, the ones who screamed kill him about Obama at the Palin speech, the ones who went to the 9/12 protest and held up racist signs.

Obama can't be Muslim, never before in the history of this nation has one poltician let alone president been so in love, so supportive, so in favor of pork for his fellow dishonest lib Democrat crony crooks as Barak. He is at the head of the new Democrat party whose sole goal is to screw over and steal from honest Americans while rewarding the worst people who have ever lived in this nation.

The worst is yet to come. Your leaders are on their way to sucking $500 billion out of Medicare. They will then divide it up as suits them. The money that goes where it is supposed to go will end up in the pockets of insurance executives. Why wouldn’t every conscientious congressman help themselves to as much of it as possible – for the good of the folks back home?

Seems that mr. bennett has exposed himself as a hypocrit. So the next time he decides to rail on fiscal conservatancy, we can all have a good laugh.

Unbelievable. As long as the politicians keep us going at each other
(Dems vs Reps) they will continue to get away with this and worse. When are we ever going to learn what our forfathers warned us about. It IS about we the people vs them the Gov.

What we need is a truly viable 3rd party. Without it we will never get our country back from those whose only interest is self not the whole.

This crap started during the CIVIL WAR, and neither Congress or the voting public has ever cared to do anything about it. As long as I get my share, then a little graft is OK, isn't it ?

But our Dear Leader promised us this wouldn't happen, that he would run things better, didn't he?

And you libs, you deplored this sort of spending. Don't you find it outrageous?

    Libs? Anyone there? Bueller? Bueller?

    (sound of crickets chirping).

If Palin runs, Obama could win the next election. But if she doesn't, i'm not so sure. This pork has just got to stop. States are cutting back, why shouldn't the feds cut back. i will not be voting for one incumbent–state or federal when it comes time.

I have to send a check every month to a couple of Marines that are struggling to make ends meet. Maybe next month they can eat Utah's Republican Sen. Robert Bennett's video tapes.

Someone please post a quote from Bennett railing about Obama and the Dem's "tax and spend soshulizms!!!" or some such nonsense. First one to get one up here gets a free earmark in the next spending bill.

This Senator should be voted out of office!! The very nerve of any congressman, senator, whoever, putting PORK in any bill much less one supporting our military. I cannot believe he would take away from much needed basic needs for the valiant men and women fighting and serving on his part!! He should be strung from the highest tree!! No punishment is too severe for the likes of this man.
