@newtgingrich President Eisenhower had a rule that Presidents of the United States went to the meetings after success had been assured

@newtgingrich President Obama fails to get the Olympics while unemployment goes to 9.8% Iran continues nuclear program. America needs focused leadership

I would at least give the President credit for trying, Mr. Gingrich! Do you want a President who sits around twiddling his thumbs or spinning the ouiga board wondering which country could be assaulted with a barrage of you know what?

Congratulations to Rio for winning the bid! If this is a first for South America, then IT'S ABOUT TIME. Brazil has excellent athletes (Notably, Pele) yet the Olympics was never hosted there? Other continents have had their chances more than once (including North America). From what I gather, Brazil has a lot to gain from this. Too bad, America – better luck next time!

CNN MSNBC insisted that polls showed that the citizens of Chicago were divided about the games. Reporter’s politicians and commentators questioned the involvement of the president over and over again. Crimes on the streets were played over and over without solutions.
In the effort to report we have painted an undesirable picture of Chicago. The beauty of Chicago was not talked about.
I truly believe that the media in it's effort to be the best has once again set the stage for defeat. Our influence and the effectiveness in all things can be destroyed from within our own systems.
Given these reporting’s, who would want to vote in favor of such a place?
Instead of reflecting and searching for truth and responsibility the president is attached once again.
I love this county and I believe in what is possible in the USA. For me this realization is extremely sad.

Too bad no twitter in the early 90's, when there could have been all sorts of tweets about how Gingrich ground the gov't into the ground and bullied his way to prominence.

I'm sure the Republican method of demanding the IOC vote for Chicago or face being bombed back to the stone age would have fared so much better.

You idiotic piece of garbage. It wasn't Obama's Olympic games, it was America's Olympic games. You used to blast Obama for not being patriotic, and you rejoice in Chicago losing the bid? Who is the patriotic one now? You and all of those who wanted Chicago to lose are pathetic!

Whatever Newt, personally I think we should be happy that Brazil is getting the Olympics for the first time.

At first, republicans were griping about the President trying to get the Olympics at all. And now Gingrich says Obama "failed" to get the Olympics. Which is it? They criticize him for going and then criticize him for not getting the games. Unemployment goes to 9.8 %, Iran continues its nuclear program and Gingrich tweets about Obama trying to get the Olympics.

with all due respect sir a little charm and less oratory from you would be in good taste. JEALOUSLY AND HATE SEEMS TO PLAY A BIG PART IN YOUR RESPONSES.

Rallying for the Olympics is not at the same level of 'Foreign Affairs' as say, lying to start a war and demonizing our allies. By the way, where's the freedom fries?

It is really too bad Ripley saved Newt from that Alien. The world would be a better place had she not.

Obama continues to think he just has to show up and use his oratory gift to get his way. He's never considered that in the past he has always been preaching to the choir when he gave his speeches prior to becoming President. He can swell bliss in the hearts and minds of his blind followers, doesn't work on others who hold his words up to the light of day, who expect that there be substance to his words, who expect his acitons will align with what he says, who are more interested in what he says than how he says it. The campaign is over. Now Obama has to deal with governing. He no longer is facing a crowd where all the faces agree with him or think the same way he does. Nealy half the country did not vote for him and polls show some who did no longer support him because his governing does not match his campaign words.

Somehow I get the feeling old Newty would hit Obama no matter which way the decision went. The guy could issue a statement that puppies are cute and water is wet and the neocons would take him to task for it. Why do they want America to fail? Why would anybody believe anything they say? Sorry repubs, you had your chance and the result was an epic fail. Be patient. Let the smart people run things for a while. Then after they've fixed things and people become complacent and put you back in power, you can mess it all up again. And so it goes... Have a nice day!

Well the loss of the 2016 Olympics isn't the end of the world ... at least he tried, got embarrassed, and now he's takes his knocks from the right. But at least he put the effort in which is better than not going at all.

Newt is a coward. Tweeting is a cowardly way to say something without facing your target. These Republican sludge dwellers do not deserve to be in the same room with President Obama. This President has been working his A$-$ off for the U.S. from day 1 and has been fighting an uphill battle with the entire RETHUG party on his back plotting against him and regular American citizens at every turn. He and his wife have shown class and grace while trying to avoid the mud-slinging and hate coming from the "right". As an American...I'm sick of it.

  17. I can see Canada from my house!

An attempt to get the Olympic Games certainly is in the country's best interest. The preparation for the Salt lake City Games began literally right after the announcement, and the Games in Chicago would have generated huge niumbers of private sector jobs in the Great Lakes region, which desperately needs it. Its a shame Gingrich forgets all the benefits the 1996 games brought to Atlanta.

Focused leadership? Newt should talk: he could not even focus on his first and second marriages long enough to make them work, much less keeping his revolution of imbeciles going: is having Tom DeLay on "Dancing with the Stars" what you had in mind when you made him the GOP Whip?

Why isn't the newt out looking for his next wife to have an affair with before he dumps his current wife?

Newt is irrelevant and ignorant. I'd rather see a president try and fail than to see one sit in the white house reading "my pet goat" for 8 years while the country goes to 2 of his wars.

Gingrich has a point, this is why we should be tougher when dealing with the Iranians. Obama and his supporters have no idea how bad this makes the United States look.

It's so easy to be the bleacher coach and take swipes from the cheap seats, eh Mr. Gingrich? I wonder what would happen If you put as much effort into actually accomplishing something as you do being a windbag? I'm beginning to think GOP stands for Grumpy Old Poops...

He spent 4 hours at the IOC meeting. Is 4hrs too much to ask for a man to NOT focus on something that will take months to fix? Newt, I've yet to see a prudent philosphy about what kind of 'leadership' you think America should have. There is no need for your kind of obvious, clumsy slander. It's unbecomming of you.
