[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/10/02/art.newttwitter.cnn.jpg caption="Gingrich is taking aim at Obama on Twitter."](CNN) - Former House Speak Newt Gingrich is taking aim on Twitter at President Obama over Chicago's loss in its bid to host the 2016 Olympics:

@newtgingrich Somehow charm and oratory dont seem to work in foreign affirs but historians have warned that foreign policy is different than campaigning

@newtgingrich President Eisenhower had a rule that Presidents of the United States went to the meetings after success had been assured

@newtgingrich President Obama fails to get the Olympics while unemployment goes to 9.8% Iran continues nuclear program. America needs focused leadership

Every country in the running had their pres./PM speak, why is it that we have a problem with ours speaking? Did anyone mention his meeting with Gen Mchrystal in Copenhagen, guess that was a waste of money too??

Hey Newt – the President did the right thing by traveling to Copenhagen for the Olympics commission. Unemployment is rising because didn't your party ship the jobs overseas?? Instead of twittering why don't you guys all come up with solutions. Also, sorry about your faux pas in inviting adult entertainment people to your soiree.

Yeah, 'cause Newt could do the job soooo much better. Riiiight
Someone needs to clue Newt in that it was HIS party that got us into
this mess. Maybe THEY need to be more focused in THEIR leadership instead of continually being the party of "NO"
    NO jobs
    NO surplus
    NO "peaceful" resolution
    NO bi-partisan cooperation
    NO morals
NO insurance coverage for all Americans
    NO hope

It always the ppl who are sooo patriotic but really are just Fu$*ing idiots it make the rest of us look bad. The Olympic’s mean money for the US period. There is no other way to slice it. This is not a lose for president Obama it’s a lose for the US in revenue. Think about the job that would have been created. The right wingers don’t care if the “taxpayers” recoup or not their blind hatred will undo us all. And Newt's the biggest idiot of all. Economics 101 duh!!!!!!

I loathe people like this. He speaks of unemployment going up and the President doing nothing about it when a succesful bid would have elevated the economics of not only Chicago but the whole country in 2016.
The President was only presenting his bid of Chicago, it wasn't a sure bet but if succesful we would have been witness to new infrastructure and improved services to a city that desperately needs it.
..And you wonder why America wanted change, because this nay-sayer here is the alternative. They make me sick!

President Obama can be blamed for being too ambitious, but to calling him not focused is partisan swipe at the President. President Obama has accomplished a lot during his 9 months in office; please give him some credit for putting Chicago back on the world map.

So "Blabby" Gingrich is complaining? What's new??? At least the President tried to get the Olympics. Unlike "Blabby" who sat on his ass and did nothing constructive. "Contract with America" indeed!

Anything that humbles Obama is good for our country!

It's only when he can manage to get his enourmous ego out of the way that we will start to move the right direction!

If you try at something and fail, then that means you're a failure and should have never tried. Great advice from someone who was once tasked with leading a portion of our country.

And seriously, has everyone forgotten the weeks upon weeks of vacation that Bush took? The GOP needs to get over this selective amnesia thing. At least the president was trying to accomplish something for our country on this trip, unless you rank clearing brush on a ranch as one of the important issues facing out country.

Newt Gingrich dares to mention focused leadership??? The speaker of the House who left in shame and had a President who was on vacation more than any other sitting President. Americans were beginning to wonder if the U.S. Capital had been moved to Crawford, TX. Obama is the hardest working president we have seen in a long time.

Who cares what Newt Gingrich thinks? He is not in office now, he is the same narrow minded little troll he always was.

Oh shut up, Newt. Other countries' leaders get involved in the Olympic site pitch process. The US has been the exception, not the rule, in the past. But way to turn this into a political issue to try and score points.

Say what you want Newt, you are still the second biggest idiot in the GOP. No one cares what you think.

And if the president hadn't worked to secure the Olympics, old newt would have had a hissy about that too. Gingrich is pretty irrelevant to the majority, but I guess this anti-Americanism rings well in his small echo chamber.

wow... an the haters just keep on coming... so now it's Obama who failed to get the Olympics huh, and if he hadn't gone at all he would have been critized for not going. Is it a Republican sin to agree with anything the president does or says?

Newt shouldn't really talk Bush lead the country into 2 DIFFERENT WARS. A war with Iraq was a EPIC FAILURE OF MISTAKE AND MISINFORMATION. He bold face LIED to the American people about WMD. Notice how the GOP ignore that WMD call by Bush. Iran has the WMD not Iraq Bush needs to acknowledge his mistake and failure by sending the troops there. And lets not to mention Katrina where is told the head of FEMA, who was hand pick with no experience that he did a great job. Which was a BOLD FACE LIE, because Brown, the former head of FEMA was a FAILURE on a epic scale.

Gingrich helped us get into the mess we're in. It's not surprising he would want to shift blame.

I tend to look at the not selection of Chicago as a rebuff to the United States, not a rebuff on President Obama. It is a rebuff of the international attitude and lack of diplomacy that we have wittnessed for so long and basically says, there are other nations in the world and they do not care what we want any longer. Consider it as a time out until you demonstrate that you can play nice with the other children and share.

"America needs focused leadership" – Newt Gingrich

I guess Newt didn't get the memo that the President met with Gen. McCrystal in Europe and they discussed the Afghanistan mission. Our President can clearly tackle more than one thing at a time. Cut the man some slack.
