Unemployment rate goes up to 9.8 percent

WASHINGTON (CNN) - The nation's unemployment rate rose to 9.8 percent in September, up from 9.7 percent in August, the Labor Department said Friday.

The September unemployment rate is the highest in the United States since July 1983, when the unemployment rate was 10.1 percent.

Didn't Obama say if we pass the stimulus, unemployment would not go above 8%? Hmmm.

I'm glad the stimulus is working and we're in economic recovery.

It can't be!! Obama PROMISED unemployment would not go above 8% if his failed stimulus was passed. Funny how you don't hear him saying too much about that. Guess he figured out he doesn't really know what he is doing.

Every day more and more are loosing there jobs.

Then we have a clebrative flying around , putting more dollars dowen the drain. Helping none other than himself to be front an cnter of self distruction.

While doing all this , people moving into tents, cardboard boxes . And the cost of the latest trip would certainly helped some one have a decent nites sleep .

As stated before , his plate is over loaded , an yet he add's more daily.

Time to get down to buisness. NO got more campaining to do . NO , time to wake up Barrack . Lets start getting CC Camps back . But he does not read eneough to see what they helped threw the 30's.

And yet our President, the same President that promised us that unemployment would never ever top 8% if we just agreed to pass he's massive "stimulus" bill, has time to fly off to Denmark, go on late night talk shows and yuck it up with adulterers, spend endless hours trying to sell a failed health care plan, but ignores the fact that more and more people are unemployed. So instead of lowering taxes to stimulate jobs and consumption, Obama wants to raise taxes and kill growth and spending. The market reflects these errors of Obama, it's tanking once again. I guess as a certain Reverend from Chicago once said, "The chickens are coming home to roost.".

    But... but... but...

    Oh yeah. It's Bush's fault.

And employment is a trailing indicator of recovery, because everyone knows the economy is expanding. Thanks to the stimulus plan masterminded by the greatest president since Lincoln. Yeah! Can you imagine what the unemployment rate would be if the stimulus didn't save or create 3 million jobs?

This must be Bush's fault. Yeah... that must be it.

If we just would have left the Republicans in place they could have sat around and done nothing and given some more tax cuts to the rich and this whole problem would have been solved by now.

It is littel consolation to those without a job but it could be much worse and it would have been if McCain and Palin were in charge. The are not yet out of the hole that the GOP put us in but as my daddy says; If you find yourself in a hole the first step is to stp digging. The Obama administration has officially stopped the digging now that we have a leader and we are looking for a ladder.

That 800 billion dollar spending spree sure did the trick. I wonder where we're going to get our next fix from. Maybe the Chinese will find the kindness in their hearts to lend us some more.

Where the heck is our President? Can his list of priorities possibly be any more backward?

We need to deal with the economy and the Middle East. Health care, the Olympics, and having a beer with an old buddy seem like they should be way down on the list. I have a far less important job than the President, and I am working every waking hour (and I'm not paid hourly) lately to try to help my employer stay in business. Shouldn't Obama be working every waking hour to save our country? Will we even be around in 2016 for the Olympics if he doesn't. He seems like a man that is overly obsessed with his legacy, and I guarantee you his main focus right now is how historic and symbolic it will be for him to speak at the 2016 Chicago Olympics as he's wrapping up what he believes was an great 8 years as President.

yeah, but thank God the Obamas took 4, count them, 4 jumbo jets to Copehagen to politic for somthing that will further drown the city of Chicago in debt...but it will bring people together...haha...just like Obama has....hmmm...I don't recall a more racially tension-filled time since the 1960's....
So, we're in debt moreso than any other administration, unemployment's at a 26 yr high, racial tensions are at their worst since the 60's....our adversaries are building nukes...we're being infiltrated by illegals...taxes are going up, and this is change?
    what a crock of crap

10 Trillion in debt to go along with it. What a gigantic waste of taxpayers dollars and freedoms by Obama. Nationalize industries, bailout big banks, and didn't help. Obama should resign.

Here come the idiots blaming this on Obama. Gee, do you think this might have something to do with rich folks investing in pie in the sky derivatives and other shady financial instruments for the last 10 years instead of investing in American business and jobs? How much did your real wages increase in the last decade? How much did corporate profits increase? How many American's jobs were offshored and outsourced? Wealth redistribution indeed. Keep on believing that Obama is the bad guy. Your corporate masters are laughing at your gullibility, little consumerbots. Have a nice day!

I am so glad we spent almost a trillion dollars on a 1000 page bill that was read, evaluated, amended, and voted on in less than 45 min. so we did not go over 8% unemployment. Way to go government; Republicans, Democrats, President you guys are the greatest. Now everybody sees how well the government can spend a trillion dollars I have changed my mind and now I really want a government option.
