White House: Fox is 'opinion journalism masquerading as news'

(CNN) - The Obama White House is ramping up its offensive against Fox News.

This summer, President Obama signaled his unhappiness with the network. "We've got one television station entirely devoted to attacking my administration."

Over the past month, that discontent has translated into an all-out war against Fox. Last month, Obama notably skipped a sitdown with Fox as he plugged his health care bill in one-on-one interviews on every other major news network. Earlier this month, the White House published a rare blog post directly attacking a news organization, slamming Fox for its "disregard for the facts" and pointing readers to an independent fact-checking organization that had debunked "more Fox lies."

Now, White House Communications Director Anita Dunn is questioning whether Fox is in the news business at all. "It's opinion journalism masquerading as news," she told Time of the news network, in an interview released Thursday. Dunn also made it clear this won't be the last White House blast aimed at the network: "They are boosting their audience. But that doesn't mean we are going to sit back."

I agree with Anita Dunn. Fox reporting has brainwashed millions of US Americans, I consider them to be fascist. News reporting isn't just about making money and making the ignorant more ignorant. What Fox does should be against the law.

Sounds like some of you people are too stupid to understand the liberal elite media is a lie made up by Rush and his wannabes. If Fox were fair and balanced they wouldn't have stopped their critisism of the White House during the Bush years.

Keith Olbermann said it best when he calls Fox News "Fixed News" or "Fox Noise." Fox News is the worst news outlet when it comes to fairness and bias. They have only the most fringe elements on the right reporting, such as Sean Hannity and the wingnut Glenn Beck. They are so biased against ANY Democrat, Liberal or Progressive that it's a joke to call them a news organization. I'm a big supporter of the First Amendment, so if Fox wants to spew its right-wing venom, they should go ahead, but be honest that they are really tabloid and opinion journalism, not news.

FOX would not know a fact if it bit them. Every day they contradict themselves. Anyone who protested Bush was with the terroriosts. Anyone protesting Obama is a patriot.

Sure they are right wing apologists and they are making tons of money doing it...just look at Glenn Beck. Either he is really crazy or he is laughing his way to the bank.

Ignore them. That's what I do.

    Faux news is false news.

Whether Obama is going to get anywhere with this is questionable. But just doing nothing in the face of this right-wing propaganda network isn't working either.

Might as well shine light into the darkness.

Obama is such a cry baby. He can’t take any criticism from anyone. He attacks anyone who disagrees with him. He is a joke in the Whitehouse. Who are you? Get away from me! Leave me alone….. Augh!!!!

With the amount of power this White House is trying to accumulate Thank God someone is questioning them!!! The Founding Fathers would roll over in their graves if they knew we have a President who siezed two private companies and gave 17% of them to the unions, has a "Pay Czar" who thinks he has the right to dictate how much Private Citizens are paid, and wants to fine citizens who do not agree with his policy to buy insurance!

Americans would not watch unbiased, objective news. It just won't sell. We choose to watch news that reinforces our preconceptions. God forbid we should encounter an opinion different than our own and objectively consider its validity. Have a nice day!

Telling it like it is!!!! Finally! Calling out the media center of the tin foil hat crowd otherwise known as the conservative party. In days past, what Fox does would have been called "yellow journalism".

And the right wing cries all the time about the "liberal media" when out of the other side of their mouths they brag about Fox having the largest viewership and highest ratings.

Fox broke the ACORN story a full week before anyone else picked it up. Obviously the White House is fine with pro-Obama opinions as spouted on MSNBC and the rest of the MSM. CNN isn't above blame either. So called 'journalists' like Roland Martin should be on the White House payroll. Fox must be hitting the truth pretty hard if the White House has to single them out. The reason leftists call Fox so biased is that by reporting both sides they are doing what the rest of the liberal MSM isn't doing.

Roger Ailes is in charge of Fox News. Can anyone honestly argue that Roger Ailes is impartial? Roger Ailes is a career Republican political hatchet man who revels in hiring such unbiased entertainers as Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly. Everyone knows that Fox news is the mouthpiece for the Republican National Committee.

Bush got hammerd and beaten to a pulp by evey news channel out there. I never heard him complain or take issue with a network or individual. He took it as part of the job.
Obama is different, more like a dictator who wants all opposition speech to be shut up. Then it is easier to do what ever he wants and easier to get everyone to love him. If all the media say just good thinge about you the people will think you are wonderful. If the press is afraid to or does not want to say anything negative about you, you can get away with anything. That seems to be the press Obama wants. He must be very envious of Castro and Chavez.
Obama's obsession with Fox is not a healthy one. There is a lot of truth told on Fox and a lot of valid points of view not found anywhere else. America is a better place for it. Points of view from those who disagree are just as valid and worth listening to as those who agree, maybe more so.

Hey Libs, you already have CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, PBS, NPR, and MSNBC on your side. Is the Beloved Leader so thin-skinned that he can't tolerate one broadcast voice of dissent?

It's hard to find a Fox anchor that doesn't insert his or her personal opinion into a news story. And it's even harder to find a story in which they explore more than their side. I remember when they announced the president would be giving a speech to school children.

I think it was Megyn Kelly that immediately followed the news snippet up with "Could the democrats sink any lower?!"

That is NOT fair and balanced reporting.

I am not a Fox fan; Can't stand Beck, O'Reilly, or Hannity. But It really, really scares me that the White House singled them out. Where's that first amendment?

boo hoo...i don't watch Fox (too biased in MY opinion) but whether it's news or opinion what does it matter...its the first amendment!

Have we gone so far in quashing other freedoms that we're finally down to trying to kill the 1st amendment?!?

The WH should ignore the issue....by giving it attention, they give it publicity

The obambi bots still not realize that one day they themselves won't be able to speak out.

Obambi has taken control for everything: executive, legislative, judicial, congress, press, media, internet, auto, banks, schools, health care, religions, etc.

Next step will be to amend the Constitution by changing "We The People" become "We The Obambi" .

When you take into account that CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, & NBC are all in the pocket of Obama, I'd say the FOX needs to even things up. You want to talk about biased and slanted, just look at those places. Yet what channel is it that has more viewers? What's it say when MSNBC's on-air talent combined can't even beat Fox's 3rd string? It says that real Americans know the truth, and aren't being swayed by the libs and their puppet squads.
