WASHINGTON (CNN) - President Barack Obama will donate the roughly $1.4 million award from his 2009 Nobel Peace Prize to charity, a White House spokesman said Friday.
Thats excellent. Perhaps some of the networks and insurance companies will match him and they can get some good things done.

What people fail to realize is that President Obama's decisive actions at the beginning of his presidency prevented the total economic collapse of the United States of America. If this country would have collapsed in the way of the former Soviet Union, imagine the violence that would have immediately occured around the world. Imagine the world becoming like Darfur. The reality is, the true reason why President Obama received the Nobel Peace Prize is because he prevented this atrocity from occuring. Politically, this explanation could not have been given by the determining body, however, the individuals who made the decision to name our President are more brilliant than you can ever imagine!

Pres. Obama deserves the biggest award the international community can award. He has earned the respect of all the nations around the world. The Republicans will never show appreciation to anything President Obama achieves, whether here or abroad. They are just the party of NO, sheer recklessness and evil doing!!! The Republicans and the Talibans are one and the same, have no shame and will dismiss any prestigious award or honor our president receives.
CONGRATULATIONS, MR. PRESIDENT!!!

Read the Time article appearing right now on the CNN home page. Pretty much sums up the last several NPP awards. He who gets the award is he who opposes George W. Bush. Carter got it for criticizing Bush. Gore got it for opposing Bush's view on climate. And Obama got it for opposing Bush. See a pattern? The Nobel Committee just hated Bush and has looked to slap him in the face at any opportunity! This coming from Time, by the way.

You know, he doesn't have to accept the award. He could simply decline it and a more worthy person would be chosen. That would be the classy move, but I guess arrogance knows no bounds.

For all of your comments bashing every positive thing this President will do, Rush and Hannity thanks you for your continued support of their "Anger feeds Anger" program. They realize that you could be spending time improving your own life, but are thankful for the sacrifed you make to stay uninformed and hostile .
Your commitment to not making a positve difference while maintaining your "proud American" status is just amazing.

To Shelly,
I wonder if you ever lived in New Orleans. I did. Wonderful place to party if you are young. We knew 25 years ago the city was vulnerable, and truly, others knew decades before that. We had a near miss when I was there. The federal government has spent a fortune helping New Orleans. The disaster was exacerbated by an inept local government and the refusal of many people to get out of town. Bush did not formulate Katrina, nor did he make the levies fail, nor did he have the authority under the Constitution to send in the military unless the governor requested it, which did not occur. The Red Cross EBT cards that were handed out went to booze and flat screen tv's. FEMA was hampered because the animals that remained in the city took advantage of the total lack of police presence to run wild and shoot at anything that moved. I have seen FEMA trucks rolling south in advance of hurricanes several times. For all the heat they took, FEMA is pretty well organized and ready to go. So please, enough of the poor New Orleans diatribe. People had the chance to prepare, and to get out, and they chose not to.

I have paid my taxes well upward of the 30% bracket for my entire adult life, Social Security that I will never get back, I bet you can't say the same Liberal.

This is the right thing for him to do to show his caring and concern for the plight of the less fortunate. These less fortunate often created from the despair of a system which robs but mostly does not value the citizens who pay for the waste and greed. I would recommend sending some of this to Morris Dees and the Teaching Tolerance Project to help end Racism. Thank you, President Obama. Peace

please do not send it to an existing charity. if there is not one start a
foundation for the poor who need medical treatment and eqipment
they cant afford–and honor TED KENNEDY by naming it after him.
the man gave his life to the dream of health care for everyone and PRESIDENT OBAMA awarded for his vision of better living for all humanity. to me it works. and if the GOP has anythng to say about it ,
they would be in disgrace.itld be a disgrace to them-TED KENNEDY was a good friend to them all. Ted Kennedy was a good friend to them all.
