WASHINGTON (CNN) - President Barack Obama will donate the roughly $1.4 million award from his 2009 Nobel Peace Prize to charity, a White House spokesman said Friday.
I think he should donate the money to help poor democrats learn how to debate and to lose the hatred they constantly show for all republicans, that same kind of hatred they said they were shown by the republicans during the Bush years which they always complained about. . Perhaps if there are a few cents left over he can give one more speech to his dem followers that their hatred for their fellow Americans certainly isn't going to help him win one for real the first time, since no one can really count this as any achievement for 12 days worth of being in office. Remember he was nominated for that 12 days. I mean I know dems believes he walks on water but this is ridiculous – 12 days is all it took for him to change the world.

I am totally blown away by all the nastiness about our President. I am so proud of him. He has principles, unlike the president before him. He is being expected to turn around in 9 months what took 8 years to create. It is sad that other countries understands what he is trying to do better than his own country. He is doing everything he campaigned to do and people were onboard then. What did bush do for you or this country? He lied to get us into a war we should never have been a part of. He put money in his pockets and the wealthy. He cared nothing about this country or you and me.

What a clown.
They have lowered the value of the award down to nothing.
Funny how EVERYONE is afraid to speak the truth on this one.

In grade school we would call this pouting.
President Obama didn't nominate himself, nor does the prize just go to Americans, nor is it voted on by Americans only. As my 6th grade gym teacher would say, "Suck it up!"

He can donate to ACORN as far as I am concerned because ACORN helps the poor neighborhoods in this country. I don't believe the republican rhetoric and the republican trickery used to bring down the agency. The pimp and prostitute the sent to the offices to film must have been naturals for the profession. Where is the film of them being tossed out the door and the police being called? Good Job President OBAMA and GOD BLESS

Congratulations to our President. Sadly, there are some people in the United States that will never be happy with ANYTHING he does. These same people seem to always be a part of the problem, but never do anything to work towards a solution. Many of the nay-sayers are more concerned with what they can find to complain about than what this means to our foreign relations.

The key here is the word "peace." To inspire the world to act peacefully with diplomacy is a good thing and what leaders should strive for. What does one do when you inherit a bad situation? Trying to resolve the issues that created the situation in the first place is never easy. Therefore, as an inspirational leader, Pres. Obama deserves the award.
The whining and sour grapes about whether he deserves the award is quite disgusting. The people from the Nobel Board made their decision. It was theirs to make. The discussion about whether he is deserving brings to mind a discussion of whether a person who thinks and enunciates is more deserving than someone who does the work. Social systems are replete with examples: lawyers vs. teachers – who makes more money? Which one is more deserving?

President Obama deserves this award. People forget that communication is ACTION. In fact, it is one of the most important actions. He has been able to achieve what peace keepers have only attempted- open, civil dialogue between opponents. If that doesn't deserve the Nobel Peace Prize, then I'm not sure what does deserve it.

I just can't believe all the sour grapes from the Republicans and the talking heads! Yes, I can! Give the man a A for effort in trying to move this country in a different direction! The Republicans are the party of bigotry and hatred! They make me ill! Obviously the prize committee sees things differently, hooray for those who can see Obama for what he is, a leader!

From a 22 year career military man: This president is exactly what this country needs. Honor, integrity, and selflessness. Qualities that are in short supply within the republican party. I wager that every quote from a republican congressman about the nobel will either be negative or a qualified positive. Not one will say, "I'm proud of my president."
