    on obama's watch:
    – fixing the worst job loss rate since the last [R] depression
    – fixing the economy so our grandkids will not suffer
    – blames Bush and the lemming [R]s in congress, Dam Right!!
    – taking [R] economic shrinkage and making [D] ecomomic growth
    – troops with the first real support from White House since 2000

A 'person' yesterday claimed that his/her dog could easily take Obama in 2012. Beyond the typical neo-moronic delusion, if a rightwinger has an 'active' dog, one needs to wonder who is taking what in THAT backwoods relationship.

I cannot drink coffee or tea: don't like the taste nor the caffeine jolt. I drink diet caffeine-free cola. Neither I nor my doctor see this as unhealthy. Why should I have to pay tax on this and the person who has to have his morning wake-up coffee befor he/she can function does not have to pay a tax. Their coffee, often loaded with cream and sugar, is worse health-wise than my diet soda.

It's all a scam. You raise the tax and people will find other ways to get it cheaper. Take the new cigarette taxes. Hardly a night goes by when you don't see a van pull up with NC plates filled with cartons of cigs selling at half the NY price. As a smoker, I can purchase at a nearby Indian reservation tax free, or bring back a carton or two from California, where cigs are half the price.

I dont like the idea of a fat tax. But who's gonna stop it...the nitwit republicans? or how about the looney right fringe?

THIS is why the right needs to get it's act together. This is ridiculous.

Ha ha, Micheal Moore double chin lib libs love taxes for sure, but they love their carbs, sugar, and fat as well. They just love shoving a couple big macs down their throats, but they always wash it down with their brainwashing, hate-filled, dishonest lib Demo talking point kool aide.

With the new healthcare these fat folks laying around screaming for healthcare reform will wake up to find that they are number one on the list for care to be denied because they are fat, lazy, and have all of the ailments that go along fat and lazy.

What is so wrong with putting a tax on pop?

We pay taxes on cigarettes and alcohol.

If someone doesn't want to pay the tax, then don't buy the stuff!

I smoke, but you don't hear me complaining that non-smokers don't have to pay the cigarette tax!

(You do know that pop is not good for you, don't you??)

Good job CNN...adopting the misnomer "fat tax," so it sounds like it's targetting obese people, is a brilliant way to turn a tax on unhealthy consumer products into something more controversial than it really is.

So they want to tax people that are fat so they can use the money for.....? Oh, that's right, so we can use it to give more money to fat "poor" people. Why not tax people who live in poor neighborhoods because they are more likely to be involved in crimes? But go ahead and tax fat, but be prepared for more unemployment as food and beverage makers and outlets like MacDonald's start cutting workers.

Let's go to a flat tax and use that as the only source of income for government. Tax income, all of it, for anyone who earns it, at a set rate. With politicians not being able to tinker with taxes to grant favors or to punish people, they could actually focus on solving problems, or figuring how to cut spending to meet the revenue stream.
