Lieberman will campaign for Republicans in 2010

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/03/12/art.getty.lieberman.jpg caption="Lieberman says he will campaign for Republicans in 2010."](CNN) - Days after drawing anger from liberal Democrats for opposing a public option to the Senate health care bill, Sen. Joe Lieberman is adding fuel to the fire, telling an interviewer it's likely he'll campaign for some Republicans in next year's midterm elections.

"I probably will support some Republican candidates for Congress or Senate in the election in 2010. I'm going to call them as I see them," Lieberman told ABC News in an interview published Friday.

Supporting Republicans is nothing new for Lieberman of course: the Democrat-turned-independent senator from Connecticut was a constant fixture on campaign trail on behalf of Republican John McCain's presidential bid.

He also supported Maine Sen. Susan Collins and New York Rep. Peter King last year over the Democratic Party candidates in those races.

Senate Democrats had threatened to revoke Lieberman's powerful Homeland Security Committee chairmanship after the 2008, election but ultimately decided to let him retain the post.

Lieberman, who lost a Democratic primary race in 2006 but ultimately won the general election as an independent candidate, also told ABC it is "an open question" whether he will again seek the Democratic nomination in 2012.

lieberman is a nazi???? does he have confirmed Nazis in his administration. maybe you should verifiy that like we have verified the Marxist, Communist, and anti capitalist ties surrounding your favorite administration. Anita Dunn said she loves Mao, Van Jones claims he is a Marxist. should i go on??????? Mao killed more people than the Nazis. Should this bother you????

He will be out their campaiging for Sarah in 2012. So the 20 percent of the republicans can get her in the white house. He will probably get the VP slot for her and the fox gang will be her cabinet members. What shape you think this country will be in then?

"Each time I hear the name Lieberman, I cringe to think that I voted for Gore/Lieberman! And that this man, who is a traitor to his party, could have been in such a position of power!"

How odd... you've always said you voted for Bush twice. You should try to keep your stories straight, Mari.

Gee....Look what kind of impact he made for the McCain campaign he had? Not a heck of a lot obviously. Further, since Lieberman left the Democratic Party and began campaigning for Republicans in 2004 the Democrats have consistently gained seats in every election AND on every level of government across the country – from city councils to Congress.

So, on behalf of all of us progressive Democrats out there....I say...give it all ya got, Joe!

Why does this guy continue to claim he is a democrat? He and the other right wing "democrats" need to get out of the party. They are a drag on progress towards civilizing the US. I'd rather have them go with the party they really belong to than pretend to be democrats and continue to sabotage the progress the real democrats are trying to make.

He is doing this because he is unhappy that, the president is doing so much good for the country within a short period, contrary to his expectation. He must be rooting for the president to fail just like Mr. Rush L. does. Afterall what, difference this two got if he saying he will go against the party in 2010?

Independent?? Joe Lieberman is a traitorous weasel scumbag piece of crap and calling yourself an "independent" doesn't excuse it. There are many democrats that disagree with the president without campaigning for the other side. He wasn't talking independence when his people McCain and Palin lost the election last year. He was begging for forgiveness. Obama gave it to him and now look what he does with it. Go to hell, Joe!

This guy is NO independent, that's for sure. He was John McCain's lap dog during the campaign, and now he's going to campaign for the Rethuglicans. !!!! Why not just join their party, Joe and quit all this Independent nonsense. You think like them, therefore you ARE. jerk!!!

If he sabotages health care reform the Democrats better strip him of any perks he has in Congress, and the voters of Connecticut better vote him out. The man is a total disgrace and a back stabber. He actually thought that putting Palin in the White House would be a good idea – tells you all you need to know about the man's judgment.
