Palin robocalls urge Virginians to 'vote your values'

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Palin recorded an automated phone call for Virginia voters."]Story updated at 11:00 a.m. EST to correct transcript of robocall

RICHMOND, Virginia (CNN) - Sarah Palin isn’t staying out of the Virginia governor’s race after all.

Less than 48 hours before voters head to the polls to elect a new governor, several Virginians reported receiving robocalls on Sunday from the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee, urging them to “vote your values” on Tuesday.

But the recording makes no mention of the Bob McDonnell, the Republican gubernatorial candidate who has been reluctant to embrace Palin during the governor’s race, out of fear that she might alienate some of the independent voters who have helped him climb to a healthy lead in the polls over Democrat Creigh Deeds.

“Virginia, hello, this is Sarah Palin calling to urge you to go to the polls Tuesday and vote to share our principles,” the former Alaska governor says in the call, which was provided to CNN by one Democrat who recorded it. “The eyes of America will be on Virginia and make no mistake about it, every vote counts. So don’t take anything for granted, vote your values on Tuesday, and urge your friends and family to vote, too.”

Meg Stapleton, a spokeswoman for Palin, confirmed the authenticity of the calls.

According to the call, the phone blitz is being paid for by the Virginia Faith and Freedom Coalition, the state branch of a national conservative group founded by former Christian Coalition director Ralph Reed.

McDonnell spokesman Tucker Martin said the campaign had nothing to do with the phone blitz and was not aware of the robocalls until he was told about them by a reporter.

Last October, during her vice presidential bid, Palin told reporters that voters get “irritated” by the automated calls being used at the time by both presidential campaigns, calling the tactic part of the “old conventional ways of campaigning.”

CORRECTION: The Faith and Freedom Coalition passes on cleaner audio of the call, which makes clear that Palin tells listeners to "vote to share our principles," not vote "for Sarah's principles" as had been earlier reported.

Palin is no factor at all why report on her. She is out of the picture and out of the limelight. Let her rest in peace. This is not news.

Stick a fork in her...she's done. Leave her to be in peace.

Stop covering this woman!!!!! She is not an elected official and its honestly just cruel to Republicans to imply that she might one day hold national elected office. Please, please please CNN, let this woman fade into obscurity WHERE SHE BELONGS.

Why are we still listening to this quitter?? All she brings to the American people is fear and smear and critizism. We are tired of this kind of person playing politics instead of seriously work for the American people.

Risky business. Most of we, the people, don't have Sara Palin's principles. Most of we, the people, would have finished out a term we were elected to serve.

Sarah's VALUES? Are you KIDDING? Let's see what they are:

    1) When the going gets tough, quit.
    2) If you can't say anything nice about someone, make up a lie.
    3) She's a bully.
    4) Do unto others before they do unto you.
    5) Talk the talk, but in case of your family, don't walk it.
    6) Me first.
    7) Liar.
    8) Braggart.

Well, I am sure I could get to 10 fairly easy, but others posting here will do that for me...

Sarah's principles???? Quitting the job that you were elected to just because it was no longer lucrative? Promoting teenage pregnancy? Being divisive and racially polarizing? Acting like a Diva?........

Sarah values are not one I would embrace.
Nothwithstanding any thing said since she
appeared on the political scene I base my
judgement on the evening everyone was
introduced to the running mate of John
I watched and listened late into the
evening as Ms Palin criticized, insulted
the other party with all of her children
watching and listening and thinking to
myself that she wasn't helping her
children see how criticism and insults
    reward applause –
Keeping her children up late so the
family look appealed to the voters –
I thought as a good mom, the kids
should of been home sleeping and
not listening to all the rocks being

    Vote for Sarah's principles?

Does this mean McDonnell will "spread the wealth" by taxing Virginia's biggest industry and divide the money among its citizens (guaranteeing himself an 80% approval rating), rip off his state with BS per diem, preach about teenage abstinence, clothe his family with campaign money, bumble his way through interviews for which he's completely unprepared, declare that people who disagree with him aren't "real Americans," then quit halfway through his term and cash-in?

Sarah Palin is DERANGED!! She doesn't know the 08 election is over!! Apparently she sees herself as a national political figure, which is so sad.

Sarah, please go away and take care of your herd of children.

So what exactly are Sarah's principles? The last time I checked, the only principles I recall her exhibiting are incompetence, hypocrisy, opportunism, greed, and deceit. Not exactly the principles I long for in a candidate…

Principles? What would those principles be? This woman must be 10 feet tall when she stands on the stack of lies she told during the 2008 campaign, From claiming not to support the pork barrel spending for a bridge to nowhere (she did support it, then didn't when it wasn't popular but she took the money just the same!), to claims that the state airplane was sold on eBay for a profit (it didn't sell on eBay and lost money), to nasty accusations that Obama was "pallin' around with terrorists" because of a neighbor who was involved in radical activities in his youth.....The vicious exaggerations were shameless. This woman is anything but principled. She should slither back into the hole she came out of. You can wrap garbage in a pretty package but it stinks when it's exposed to the light of day.

Good, I'm glad Palin in getting involved, thus destroying another far rightwinged Republcan's chances to get elected. She is serving as a beason to help identify those whom we need to make don't get elected.

    Thanks Sarah...
