(CNN) - Not only is the former Republican candidate in a special New York congressional election now supporting the Democrat in the race, she is actively campaigning for him.
According to the Watertown Daily Times and confirmed by Owens' spokesman, former Republican candidate Dede Scozzafava appeared an event with Democrat Bill Owens in Canton, New York Sunday.
"It's not about ideology, it's about the local issues," Scozzafava said during the event, according to the paper. She also urged her one-time opponent to avoid the "hateful and divisive" tactics that ultimately led to her withdrawal from the race 24 hours earlier.
Under heavy pressure from national conservatives who are supporting third-party candidate Doug Hoffman in the state's 23rd congressional district, Scozzafava said Saturday she was suspending her campaign.
Owen's spokesman would not indicate if Scozzafava was expected to appear on the trail with Owens Monday.
That will be a big boast for Owens. No one was going to vote for her anyway.
Dede is showing her true colors and needs to realize she does't belong in the Republican party because she is not a republican. She supports most if not all of what democrats support. Who is she trying to fool?
It's about local issues. This endorses raising taxes to pay for others.
Give me a break!!!!
This woman, I don't care if she did call herself a republican, is a joke.
Raise Taxes, encourage socialism. Well, NO THANK YOU.
You pay for it.
Hoffman –>A conservative candidate that knows nothing about local issues directly pertaining to D23, just ask the Watertown Daily Times. At a daily times editorial board meeting, he couldn't answer questions relating to local transportation and other economic issues..."A flustered and ill-at-ease Mr. Hoffman objected to the heated questioning, saying he should have been provided a list of questions he might be asked. He was, if he had taken the time to read the Thursday morning Times editorial raising the very same questions.". Smart candidate who's in tune with what's going on in the district he'll be representing.....not.
While the left-leaning populous doesn't have much to lose, since it's 1) The HOR and 2) The seat was left behind by a Republican, John M. McHugh, who is now the United States Secretary of the Army, it would be nice to pullout a victory here. My hope is that with Dede backing Owens and there being about 17% undecided, that the election will go to Owens; say by 3-5% points. In short, it would be a nice win, but not a required win for Democrats.
The repblican party has little to do with values or morals at its core is cabal of egotistical, hypocritical, arrogant do-as-i-say-not-do-as-i-do nincompoops who have for so long taking advantage of GOD, Guns, Gays to steal power. They come to steal, kill and destroy, the 8yrs of the bush admin was simply a foretaste of what repugs wil do to this great country had they continued in power. It was by the grace of God that the constitution only permits two terms were it not for which none of us would recognize america today. The situation at NY 23 finally proves to me that the republican is doomed to self-destruction. for a party that has lost so much in credibility, competence and inclusiveness to act in this fashion baffles me.
It's coming....tomorrow....a conservative sweep!
In your face Obama!!!
She showed her true colors. She is probabl Nancy Pelosi in disguise!
Glad that she realized nobody likes her or wants her!! Proud of NY23 to show the country you are tired of the Democrats and their spending!
This is beautiful.
and she's right.
She is proving Hoffman right by showing her True Colors. She was a Republican in name Only...... how else would she get the support of ACORN??????? Have fun with the lefties, Dede......thats where you belong..
She's bitter cause her own party hated her. Just goes to show how weak of a candidate she truly was.
Catcalls of conservative caucus can call Dede Scozzafava, a renegade of sorts, but that does not translate to an automatic
walk-over for the GOP candidate.
Hoffman is not a Republican!!! He is conservative, but he is not a Republican.
When on earth will we get beyond the stupidity of the Republican vs. Democrat slug fest! Let's start to elect candidates (Hoffman is the first perhaps) that can get beyond the insanity we have lived with for 100+ years of domination of the two major parties.
Let's not fool ourselves, niether the Democrats nor the Republicans really care about the citizens of this country. They are too busy trying to be the party in power, to own the Whtie House and majorities in the House and Senate. It is all about power.
I see people post saying, "People, not Party". Unless we stop voting for candidates from the two major parties and find independent candidates and third party candidates to support it will eternally be about Party and not People. It has been such for 100+ years and will only continue until we the voters take a stand.
These people are crazy and deminted! If we turn on you and go for one of our Nut Jobs you take it like a good ole girl and go home and sit down and shut up! Well she didn't and now her party is attacking her, now that's the Party you can trust and believe in!
