Schmidt calls Palin claims 'total fiction'

Schmidt told CNN Palin's claims in her book are 'total fiction'.

WASHINGTON (CNN) – John McCain's former presidential campaign manager Steve Schmidt is the latest McCain adviser to cry foul over accusations Sarah Palin has penned in her yet to be released memoir "Going Rogue."

Excerpts obtained by The Huffington Post characterize Schmidt in an unfavorable light, particularly in reference to the prank phone call Palin received from someone pretending to be French President Nicolas Sarkozy. "Right away, the phones started ringing," Palin writes. "One of the first calls was Schmidt, and the force of his screaming blew my hair back. 'How can anyone be so stupid?! Why would the president of France call a vice presidential candidate a few days out?!'"

In a telephone conversation with CNN's John King, Schmidt said how he is described and portrayed in the book is "fanciful. [And] total fiction."

In the excerpts, Palin also claims Schmidt tried to put her on a strict eating regimen, and in a conversation with Randy Scheunemann, a McCain foreign policy adviser, he had blamed the campaigns problems on Palin's "postpartum depression."

"Schmidt started in again, telling Randy what an awful pick I was - the "postpartum" problems, the wardrobe "scandal," "legal exposure" for Todd on Troopergate, whatever he meant by that," Palin writes according to the published excerpts.

In October, during The Atlantic magazine's First Draft of History Conference, Schmidt predicted to CNN's John King that he would be portrayed as "anti-rogue in the running of the campaign."

It appears Sarah Palin is painting herself as a victim who was mistreated and abused by everyone in the McCain camp.

She needs to own up to her responsibility instead of blaming everyone else. How hard was it to tell Katie, during the interview, want newspapers she read or about any Supreme Court case?

Is there an anti Palin website where CNN and Newsweak can just cut and paste them. They are always the same. Hey, if she is so bad for the Republican party then you should be encouraging her like you encouraged McCain. Until he got the nomination, of course.

Good thing is there will be no terror attacks under Obama's watch, Cause like the typical liberal, he redefined terror.

Schmidt a loser who couldn't run a successful campaign against an empty suit community organizer who sat in a black racist church for 20 years. Who was brought up in a muslim household, had muslim friends who he went to Pakistan with (God knows on what type of passport), has been schooled in marxist philosphy, and won't release any medical or school records. What has he paid $1.7m to hide? Answer these questions and you will gain respectability. Until then, don't try to deflect negative comments towards Palin. All the frivolous
ethics filings have been dismissed. How about the congressional ethics filings against the Congressional Black Caucus Members?

You can only imagine how upset the 'handlers' of McCain had to be when Sarah Palin did for the campaign what they could not. Palin if nothing else, is not to be managed. Republicans need Palin more than they need Steve Schmidt. The fact that he is getting ANY press will only help Sarah sell her book. He is a sore loser and nothing more.

Schmidt has been bad mouthing Palin every since the campaign ended. Schmidt ran a horrible campaign and is trying to shift the blame of his ineptness to her.

To all the Palin haters:Your socialist pig of a President is destroying this nation, just like the media and the RINOS have tried to destroy Palin.Palin will have the last laugh in 2012 when we drive the liberal extremists out of office.Obama can try and blame Bush for everything but the trillions of debt as a result of his agenda and the attempt to socialize America will destroy his political career!

This woman is pathetic why did her and her ghostwriter write this book. If she is a serious candidate for 2012 why all the poor pitiful me stories; Palin never takes the blame for anything. Why did she not write a book on policy or does she think she can continue to use a ghostwriter. She is going across 23 cities plus Fort Hood after a tragedy to spread a book that is basically stating gotcha. I say one more time Palin this is not a beauty pageant. Lying will not get you in the WH; to be vindictive is non-Christian.

I find all of this very amusing. We know that the AP has hired 11 'fact checkers' to research Sarah's book. How many were hired to check Obama's? Zero.... hmmmmmm

Why is it that when someone is scared by the liberal left, they go to the bottom of the barrel to find the minions to smear individuals like Sarah? I will be the first to admit that McCain was far from my choice for the Republicans. He's not much different from Obama. And when the New York Times endorsed him? Well, that just meant they say him as a pushover, and not much competition for The One.

Now, Sarah is another thing. She generally SCARES the left because she trully represents middle America......... and that should scare the liberals to death....

So instead of coming out with a book which would introduce her political views and positions on issues in depth, this is what she decided to wirte????

How can she ever be taken seriously. This woman has nothing to say.

    So, next step:

    >> Good lord, just imagine the world of hurt we'd be in if she and gramps had won the election!

You're right! Let me look out my window and see the beautiful sunshine. Lets see 10+% unemployment, the government running the auto industry, socialized healthcare on the horizon and we can't decide what to do in Afghanistan. I'm not even a republican and I don't think it could get much worse.

I have read this several times, trying to understand what you are TRYING (badly) to say...

I THINK you are suggesting that Sarah Palin is capable of thinking for herself, and that "Liberals/Communists/Socialists/Dumbocrats" are somehow afraid of Ms. Palin's "superior" intellect...
I can ASSURE you, I am not, in the least, concerned about Sarah Palin. She is to intellect what battered, deep fried Twinkies are to health food.
The thoughts and words out of her mouth CAME FROM HER... SHE (and nobody else) made herself look moronic. If she had only done it once, or maybe even twice, I could attribute it to a momentary slip up, but she has made enough ignorant, illogical, illinformed, unsubstantiatable remarks, statements and interviews to fill AT LEAST half of the soon to be published(?) "Palinisms – And you Thought Yogi Berra Said Dumb Stuff,"
    AND, she's a QUITTER

All of you Palin critics, who throw nothing but cheap shots, really wish she would go away. Too bad. While she may never become president she can rally conservatives like no one else....and that is what really frightens you. Enjoy your little tin Gods time left in office. In 2010 he could be rendered powerless and in 2012 he will be gone.

"...The very idea that this will become a best seller tells a very sad story of how some can be duped by this cult like leader."

Not necessarily. A book can become a best seller if some organization just buys up thousands and thousands of copies. People don't actually have to buy the book to make it a best seller. The RNC can do that by themselves if they like... or some pro-Palin group... assuming that there can be a pro-Palin group that is.

OMG – a politician who LIES!!! Who would have thought it possible? Of course she lies. Honestly, who is surprised that the book is just one big "take that!" to everyone who wronged her? Look at her history – she's always been a vindictive woman. Her first act as mayor of a town of 9,000 people was to fire everyone who didn't like her!! Didn't matter who they were, what their experience was, or how well they'd always done their jobs – they crossed her, they're out of there. She doesn't have the power to fire anyone anymore, so writing a book and naming names and making a ton of money doing it is the next best thing. Doesn't matter that she lies in print (freedom of speech, ya know?) what matters is that she can make a lot of money and her adoring fans will still love her. (Love is blind, you betcha.)

A person doesn't need to be deranged to "hate" Sarah Palin. To respect, admire, emulate, "understand" her, on the other hand, a certain mental deficiency might be in order.

Sarah Palin has shown (CERTIFIED) herself to be unprepared, inarticulate, untruthful, vindictive, and a quitter...

But I DO have to admit, that because of moral/mental giants like you, she will be rich...
But I guess, to the "Right" wing(nut) fringe, that's all that really matters.

Palin is playing the media like a fiddle since she's left office.
First she got people to read the entire healthcare bill proposed by congress, by putting into quotes so people couldn't miss it, the words death panels...orginally in her Facebook notes as" death panel" so the liberal media could spread it around for her.
Now she releases bits and pieces of her book, and holds back the proof that's in the form of emails from the campaign, to allow the naysayers to dig a hole for themeselves before she proves them to be liars, exposing that fact to the public.
She is not just releasing a book, her plan is to expose her irrational criics lies and sour their future non-sense to the public forever.
