DCCC slams Shadegg for suggesting Bloomberg's daughter will be kidnapped

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="DCCC slams Shadegg for suggesting Bloomberg's daughter will be kidnapped'"]Washington(CNN) - A spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee criticized a Republican congressman Tuesday for suggesting that Mayor Michael Bloomberg's daughter will be kidnapped by terrorists, calling it evidence that the GOP has been taken over by "Right Wing extremists."

"In case there's any doubt of the Republican Party being taken over by the likes of Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, Michele Bachmann and other Right Wing extremists, last night Republican Rep. John Shadegg actually suggested that Mayor Bloomberg's daughter will be kidnapped by a terrorist," DCCC spokesman Ryan Rudominer said in a statement.

"This is what happens when you have a Republican Party undeterred by their embarrassing loss in the NY-23 Special Election and desperate to win over the Right Wing fringe," he added.

On the House floor on Monday night, Shadegg criticized Bloomberg for supporting the Obama administration's decision to have the suspected 9/11 terrorists face a trial in New York City. Bloomberg said last week that it's "fitting" to have them tried close to the World Trade Center site and that the city has "hosted terrorism trials before," but Shadegg warned of other repercussions.

"I saw the Mayor of New York said today, 'We're tough. We can do it,'" Shadegg said. "Well, Mayor, how are you going to feel when it's your daughter that's kidnapped at school by a terrorist? How are you going to feel when it's some clerk - some innocent clerk of the court - whose daughter or son is kidnapped? Or the jailer's little brother or little sister? This is political correctness run amok."

Bloomberg's office said Tuesday it would not comment on the remark.

I think this guy sounds very dangerous to be saying something like this. Like he is planning it or something. This sends a red flag an should be looked into.

Republicans, especially the far right whack jobs (the majority of the GOP) are a far greater enemy to this country then al qaeda, taliban and all other radical islamists combined.

A radical christian is far less moral then a radical islamist. Radical christians thank jesus for dying and then joyously go commit a sin thinking it's a erased by the death of our saviour.

I became a democrat because of the hypocritical and NON christian values that the republican party embraces.

    Oooo! Oooo! Scary Repugnants!

We should never try a Mafia boss in NY, either, because SOMETIMES they threaten and kidnap people. And a serial killer might have an accomplice out there somewhere who MIGHT kidnap your grandmother and put her in front of a DEATH PANEL! Or make her subject to some form of SOCIALISM, like Medicare. There are COMMIES under every bed, and the world is ending in 2012 anyway, when the RAPTURE happens.

Vote for us, vote for us! We'll keep scaring the pants off you until you do. And then we'll do it some more.

Republicans are enemies of our country, that's why they are constantly giving aid and comfort to our enemies.

Shadegg has a point. Obviously it was missed by the Democrats as they hurried to insult Palin and Bachmann.

The very reason for having military commissions is to protect those involved in the trial process.

KSM is Al Qaeda’s #2. Not some no-name terrorist who got caught with a shoe bomb. There could easily be some repercussions.

And what is with the Democrats attacking women? Whether it's Palin or Michele Bachmann they are so disrespectful....How dare these women try to speak out in a male dominated profession!

Women are NOT equal in the eyes of the Democrats, especially if they are Republican women.

Fear, fear and more fear. That's the Republican message. Fear Health reform, fear the Climate Change legislation. When did the Party of Reagan become so fearful and wimpy? Because to me and my friends, that's what they are.

So Rudominer doesn't at all see the Democrats as undeterred in their socialist agenda by the embarassing losses they also suffered on Election Night? And if he'd like to really critique embarassing losses, perhaps he can help explain to Jon Corzine how all of Obama's visits to New Jersey did nothing to prevent his loss to Christie.

All I can say is UNBELIVABLE and Rep Shaddeg owes the mayor an apology. The continued rantings of the right wing are dangerous. I can only hope that the likes of Michelle Bachman, John Shaddeg, and others are defeated when up for re-election.

Shadegg is an idiot....if the terrorists had any intention of going after specific families, don't you think that would have been accomplished long before now??? The Republican Party has whipped themselves into a frenzy of rhetoric that is fast losing any sense of reality!!!

Is this maggot wishing that a terrorist attack happens in NYC?
Is he really believing that if Bloomberg does not follows the Republican Way his family's well-being will be at stake?
So that's how you win a discussion, with treats and paranoia?
    Republicans... take back your party!

This is the Radical side of the Republican party that is trying to take over the GOP........ nut cases like him, Hoffman, Palin, Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, all of them are radicals, remarks like this is something the government better look into.......if something does happen to his daughter, Shadegg would be the first one to throw in jail....these are the idiots that would plot something and try to blame it on the terrorists or the demorcrats........they are HATE mongers.....

I don't know whether he should've said that or not, because it is a scary thing. But is it right-wing extremist? Nah. It's just a frightening thing to imagine.

Drumming up irrational fears is nothing new for the GOP. Joseph McCarthy did it in the 50's with the dominoes theory; George Bush and Dick Cheney did it after 911 to justify the Iraq invasion; and, they're doing it today in their opposition to everything Obama does. Remember Churchill's admonition: we have nothing to fear but fear itself.

It's political limbo with these GOP freaks...

as for this: "And what is with the Democrats attacking women? Whether it's Palin or Michele Bachmann they are so disrespectful....How dare these women try to speak out in a male dominated profession!"

Play with the big dogs and your'e gonna get bit. Palin, Bachman and their ilk are not being attacked because they are women, nor were they singled out. In fact, they were grouped with a similarly stupid amoral man. They are being attacked because they are ignorant simpletons who for some godawful reason have been given power, a soap box and the rapt attention of a "news" media willing to set journalism aside in order to pretend that what is coming out of their forever-yapping-but-saying-nothing mouths with respect and as though it just might have merit, instead of attacked outright as abject foolishness and fabrications, just so the media can pretend there's an actual controversy to sell us on in exchange for ratings to up their ad revenue.
