Biden heads to Iowa for Democratic fundraiser

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Vice President Joe Biden will speak Saturday night at the annual Jefferson Jackson dinner in Iowa."]
WASHINGTON (CNN)– Vice President Joe Biden will be in Iowa Saturday as a special guest at the Iowa Democratic Party's annual Jefferson Jackson Dinner.

Joining Biden will be Gov. Chet Culver, Lt. Gov. Patty Judge, and Reps. Bruce Braley and Leonard Boswell. According to the Iowa Democratic Party, Sen. Tom Harkin is also expected to speak, but may miss the event if he's delayed by the Senate health care vote Saturday.

The annual dinner is one of the biggest Democratic fundraising events of the year, usually kicking off the presidential primary season. In 2007, then-candidate Barack Obama's speech at the dinner has been credited to launching his path to the Democratic nomination. Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, Chris Dodd, Bill Richardson and Biden also spoke in 2007. Speakers in past years include former President Bill Clinton and former Vice President Al Gore.

The event is being held at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines.

UPDATE: According to the Iowa Democratic Party, Sen. Tom Harkin will not be able to attend the dinner Saturday night, but has filmed a message to be played at the event.

These democrat's are so out of touch of reality its unbelievable. Tax and spend seems to be the motto of this entire party. Rob from the working and give to the unwilling. China will end up owning everything in this country and the dollar will be worth nothing if these beg, borrow and stealer's continue in their current spending patterns. Wake up America before this country has been sold down the river by a bunch of irresponsible politicians. They need to live just like a family in that you cant spend more than you have!!

too bad that elections have become around the clock, never stopping events

neither party can blink, or the other will get its cash, or at least that is what both of their current strategies

in a way kind of cowardly... take a risk, try NOT campaigning for two years, see if the other party wears out its welcome and the public says we're tired of you... BECAUSE RIGHT NOW WE ARE VERY TIRED OF THE CONSTANT CAMPAIGNING

Does Biden and Obama ever do anything except campaign?? Oh yes I forgot they push to ram health care and cap & trade bills down our throats. Things that will help further destroy this country while blaming it on Bush.

  6. Right wingnuts are the darlings of dementia

I tuned into "Extreme Media" last night for my weekly dose of fear and hate. I learned that O'Reilly is upset that AP is fact checking Sarah's book. I wouldn't have anything to do with republicans calling it lies, though. Then on to Hannity I discovered that the melting glaciers are not a result of global warming, we are in a cooling off period. Finally, Gretta dealt with the unfair treatment of Sarah by real media.

I could not get to sleep for hours.

Washington, New Mexico, Iowa. And how much pollution is that adding to our environment? Joe, you buying carbon credits and planting trees for these many political fundraisers?

Why is it that the incredible shrinking catholic church has only one issue, 'Abortion?' War, poverty, people dying without healthcare, jobs, hate, fear, world peace, equality, etc. appear to be of no concern to their leaders.

If Sarah Palin can't even run a book signing tour, how do the wingnuts expect her to run the country. She left a lot of unhappy folks in the rain, who were promised an autograph.

What a joke! Meanwhile, his Democrat colleagues will be trying to steal 20 percent of the US economy during their Healthcare bill today! Liberal Democrats will implode in the next elections! America is FED UP with their tax and spend policies and love of Socialistic Big Government takeover!

The Democrats better start raising money for 2010 and 2012--as they are going to need it.

Have you seen the recent polls??? Gallup, Real Clear Politics, and Rasmussen--all have Obama's approval rating now below 50!!!

Based on numerous polls--The Indpendents plan on voting for the Republicans in 2010 by 52% to 30%.

Everything that the MAJORITY in this country said that they did NOT want-–health care disaster, Tax and Cap energy Bill, terrorists brought to trial in NY, Gitmo closed, amnesty for illegals---the Democrats keep pushing and trying to shove down our throats.

And, now a national unemployment rate of 10.2%!!! Unless the Democrats can find a way to lower this unemployment rate by half before the 2010 elections--they are done!!!

The Democrats are going to get clobbered in 2010--as Republicans AND Independents will be voting together AGAINST the Democrats!!!

Sorry but I will not be attending this year. Due to the cost of living and the loss of respect for our Governor and Representive Bruce Braley. I would like to add that am waiting for the 2010 Election so we may replace these 2 and maybe more.
