WASHINGTON (CNN) - Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana on Saturday said she has decided to support a floor debate on the Senate's health care reform bill, according to two Democratic sources.
Sixty votes are needed to move the controversial bill to the floor for discussion. The legislative body is expected to vote Saturday night.
Landrieu had said she's concerned about the bill's costs to small businesses and individuals, and is opposed to a public health insurance option "that will undermine the private insurance market."
Well she was waiting for her bribe money to be promised. This is dem politics at it's best. Sleazy Louisiana politician meets the chicago way. We need health care reform but not this partisan political crime which will end up costing 10 times what they promise and destroy health care as we know it.
Everybody want to be the "most important" vote . dems better unite, this is it......it will be remembered at their next elections. We need reform now!
Looks like 100 million can buy a vote. Way to go democrats...you've just proved how corrupt you are by buying her vote.
I'll admit the economy was heading in the wrong direction under the republicans but the democrats have done nothing but accelerate the problem. Our country is broke and yet they just print more money and spend us further into a hole. Wake up America unless we vote these corrupt politicians out, America will cease to exist.
And it only cost all taxpayers 100 million to buy her yes vote tonight. At least she sells out at 100 million rather than more.
This bill sucks. Put it in the dumpster and start over.
Any governement run system will FAIL ultimately just as everything the do does. Social security is bankrupt. Failed. Medicaire is near bankrupt FAILED. Fanny Mae and Freddie mac FAILED.
I cannot stand insurance companies mostly because they do not have to compete for the business BECAUSE we have barriers. Make them compete across state lines. make them compete across international lines. NO PUBLIC OPTION. NO LOSS OF INDIVIDUAL FREEDOMS.
I would rather have insurance eliminated and pay as I go than listen use a governemt run fat laiden program.
It's amazing to me that one serious illness can put a family in financial and personal ruin. That's America today.
She has totally lost all support from the working people of our state. Shame on her. It's clear she only wants to listen to the deadbeats of our state. The working people of our state will remember her decision at the next election. Being from a part of Louisiana that was terribly damaged during the hurricanes, we didn't milk the gov., we rolled up our sleeves, got what insurance would pay, tightened our belt and rebuilt our homes and our businesses. Lower New Orleans, milked the government, got Brad and Angie all involved and are still milking you and me the taxpayers.
Republicans voted YES for a multi-billion dollar war in Iraq and didn't complain about it. But when it's time to do something for the American people, they say no because it cost too much. All of them should be thrown out because they are a total disgrace to the America people.
She is an expensive street walker. Reid paid her $100 million for her vote. When are people going to wake up and revolt against this socialist government? The only people that are for this crap are the ones that don't have to pay taxes. The Dumbocrats need to move to Cuba or some other 3rd world country.
All it took was $100 million taxpayer dollors to buy her vote.
I guess she can be bought with our tax dollars (1.25 million Stimulus funds).
At least she's doing something right. I'll never forget Anderson Cooper's interview with her after Katrina. The woman is clueless, yet she won again. Maybe we need to stop voting in people we know are not only clueless, but who don't actually care about us. This woman has been the benefactor of government health care since she was a little girl, yet she doesn't believe the rest of us actually should be. What's that all about?
If it took $100 million in the bill to get Mary's vote, how much did Blanche's vote cost we the taxpayers???
What it did cost both of these two idealogues is their souls and their jobs come the next election.
Great work ladies!!!
excellent...ok...you got my vote....
And it's only costing us $100 mil extra for her state.
