Landrieu to back health bill debate

WASHINGTON (CNN) - Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana on Saturday said she has decided to support a floor debate on the Senate's health care reform bill, according to two Democratic sources.

Sixty votes are needed to move the controversial bill to the floor for discussion. The legislative body is expected to vote Saturday night.

Landrieu had said she's concerned about the bill's costs to small businesses and individuals, and is opposed to a public health insurance option "that will undermine the private insurance market."

Come on, senator. Come down to LA. You will be thrown out from here if you vote for this bill. You have been bought by Harry Reid with his million dollar package. We do not need money. We need commons sense and ethics. You go away.

You don't want to vote out Democrats who vote against the bill, you just want to vote out Democrats who won't vote to stop a filibuster. There's nothing wrong with voting against the bill, so long as they vote to start and then stop debate.

It is inconceivable that the Republicans are willing to let the health of American Citizens deteriorate just to see President Obama fail.

As one who is suffering from preexisting conditions and the ever rising cost of health care; I support some reform that will help me and others like me.

As I understand it the next Presidential election is not until 2012. Are the Republican Party serious about the health of the Citizens or just occupying the Oval Office?

Are they so myopic that the do not look like serious people in the eyes of the world. I forgot what the world think does not matter.

Lets hope that their better angels prevail

I still don't understand why we are spending all this money on debate. The solution is simple, give every American the health care coverage that the American people pay for Congress and federal employees to receive and there will be nothing left to debate.

Senator Landrieu, You OWE your re-election to the record turnout in Louisiana inspired by Barack Obama. You OWE him your vote on the Health Care bill or come 2014 your party will go shopping for another candidate. This is a good first step but it took way too long for you to make a decision. Some things are more important than winning elections and this is one of them. Blanche Lincoln, step up and fight for the American people....letting this debate proceed may be the most important thing you've ever done.

Landrieu, it will be foolish NOT to support such meaningful bill geared towards better healthcare. DEBATE AND MAKE IT BETTER! Watch and see how republicans will lose more members come 2010. Forget about what you see on the media today. We will analyse each every action taken by individual house mamber towards getting us through this hell of time. No more empty rhetoric!

Thank you Mary!! We need HealthCare Reform and the only way to improve this bill is to open it up for debate. Republican arguments are a joke because they are afraid to even open this up for a debate......

Well thanks for allowing debate. With that said, the private for profit companies with Anti trust exemptions are RAPING US . They are rationing care and hundreds of thousands DIE as a result. Can you live with yourself? What if that was you?

Looks like Harry's few million in tax payer funded bribes will pay off. Proof positive that every politician has their price. Too bad none of them care about the tax burden this pig will place on our children's and grand childrens future.

Lets at least let debate happen because if it does not, how can individuals who want to improve it, improve it. Personally, not to impliment religion in this article, but I believe it Jesus were alive he would support Universal health-care. Would he support the fact that there are 45,000 people dying each year, and would he support the fact that there are over 45 million people who could die at any moment because of no to very little insurance? I don't think so. I heard what the bishops said today, and I have a message for them, "The church does not and never will own me, God owns me." I hope he comes down, and turns over all of your tables. Then I hope he gives you a good talking to. There I have said how I feel towards the church in general. May God help you because you really do need it.
