Palin slams Senate health care vote

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/07/25/art.palinbye0725.cnn.jpg caption="Sarah Palin weighed in on the health care debate Friday night."]
WASHINGTON (CNN)– Revisiting some of her campaign trail talking points, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin weighed in on the Senate health care vote, criticizing the Democrats and Majority Leader Harry Reid for a lack of transparency.

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is pushing for yet another weekend vote (commonplace now for the party of "transparency") because he knows that the American people will be none too happy about the Democrats' proposal the longer they have to look it over," Palin wrote late Friday night in a posting on her Facebook page.

Republicans, who have expressed opposition to the Democrats' bill from the beginning, have threatened to read the full 2,074 page bill during Senate debate, claiming the more Americans hear about what is in the bill, the less they will like it.

Palin went on to talk about features in the bill: government spending, abortion, and help for special needs children.

"While this Saturday night vote might seem like a procedural matter, at the end of the day a vote against Senator Reid's motion is a vote against massive new government spending and a take-over of 1/6th of the U.S. economy; it's a vote against billions in tax increases and penalties; it's a vote against federal funding of abortion; and it's a vote against ignoring responsible tort reform," Palin wrote. "Among the provisions in this bill will be a $2,500 cap on Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs). The IRS allows families with special needs children to use FSAs to cover educational expenses. This new $2,500 cap will hit these families especially hard and cost them hundreds of dollars in new taxes every year."

Palin concluded by encouraging Americans to voice their opposition to their senators before the vote.
"The American people don't support this – we support the commonsense solutions that have been proposed, but totally ignored by (at this point) some out-of-control Washington politicians. Let's put a stop to Obamacare before it goes any further," she wrote.

You may not like her spoutingt off but you better take heed about a government ran health plan. Have any of you read it? I have about 1/2 of it. Beware if you make a certain amount a year and do not buy a health plan you are fined AND or jailed. So much for freedom. Cosmetic type surgery is taxed ontop of the procedure cost this includes braces, reconstructive surgery after a mastecomy, teeth whitening, burn graphs to just name a few. The wording in some areas are very vague and can cut alot of care out. If anyone has stood in line for unemployment lately just think how long you will wait for healthcare.

There is a 0% chance that Sarah Palin could comprehend 2074 pages in this bill. I thought she was on the "Book of Lies" tour ? Why would she mix book sales with something she knows nothing about, sales must be slow. She quits everything except for the ill informed hate filled comments that fall out of her mouth. She says Americans do not support this bill, is she talking about the very small percentage that have nothing better to do but believe her lies ? I did not realize she was annoited to speak for all of American on her book tour.Too bad Alaska does not want her back, cause it sure would be nice to hear from an educated person that is not known as the biggest liar in America on such an important issue

This lady is a joke. I find it horrible that people like Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck are pushing Sarah Palin on their listener and supporters that Sarah Palin would be a find candidate for the 2012 seat for President. This is a joke to these guys to see how much control and power they have. They are rich beyond our imagination. It would not matter who ran the country to them. It would not affect their bottom line (money). However, the problem this would cause the middle class and the poor, now thats a another story.

I don't mind that the Republicans aren't in favor of the current health care bill. That's fine, that's their right. Being able to disagree on something like that is part of what makes this such a good country: the ability to disagree with government. But what angers me is that the Republicans offer no other solution. All they seem to be saying is "No!" If you don't like the bill/plan being offered, make a counter-offer! Come up with a different proposal, then work together to hammer out the differences! Good grief people! Is it that darn difficult?

It's gotten to the point that if President Obama put forth a bill banning the kicking of puppies and kittens, you'd have GOP members protesting that bill simply because Obama wanted it.

I wonder if Palin can read a 2,074 page long document independently. And, why is CNN reporting her facebook postings almost daily? If people are interested in reading about her on facebook, they will go there on their own. Is CNN running out of news stories?

Now that Todd Palin resigned from BP and she quit her governor post midterm. The Palin family probably had to buy an individual health insurance policy for the family. I don't think any insurance company could deny her a policy even though her baby has a pre-existing condition – Down syndrome. The insurer knows she will make it news if denied. However, not everyone is a Palin. She doesn't know what it is really like to be an average Joe any more.

No, we certainly don't want to have a government plan to relieve the pain from the "for profit" insurance company death panels as well as consume 30% of all the healthcare dollars without doing anything to improve health.

If the Republicans are so concerned that people might save money and get better health, then amend the bill to mutalize the all the health insurance companies so the policy holders control the pay, margins, and even the jobs of those who so much control our lives. The current system isn't working.

It isn't a money issue. We just had a one year defense bill signed for 7 times the amount of the 10 year total. Every American soldier in Afganistsan and Iraq costs the American taxpayer a million ($1,000,000) a year to support.

And Blanche Lincoln, you better not stop this. You are in trouble for waffling on every issue but on this one, you will have a chance to inspect those rice fields and I would hope in the interim, you lose your chairperson position on the Ag Committee.

Republican or Democrat it does matter...different sides....different views ! I think if you compare Hilliary to Sarah for who has a much better head on their shoulders...even with Clintons possible weak points and areas she is so much better of a political figure then this psycho will ever be or could ever hope to be !
also uh...Sarah why are you talking any politics at all ? I mean you abandon your post as the head of Alaska? What's that about ?
Your not really a politian anymore are you ???
Go be a socker mom and sell your......" cook book "
Obama may also have serious weak points but thankyou god he is in the chair and not her and McCain waiting for his bad ticker to leave the seat open for her.................THANK YOU GOD !!!

So the senators are working on the weekend? good for them! they are doing the job they were ELECTED to do. Sarah was not elected to Congress, and the one elected post she had, she quit!

And this isn't a rushed bill. We've been talking about it for months now and everyone knows what's in it.

As she laughs at all the fools who bought her "Book of Lies", and are the same fools who oppose health care reform like blind sheep!

The title of this article should read "The QUITTER in Chief Speaks From Both Sides of her Mouth", as a shill of corporate America and herself!

Who cares what this dim witted moron thinks about health care or any other issue. Only knee jerk republicans would even consider her or her views of any import. Is she news? Only because the media likes empty topics that fill space which is exactly what this person constitutes a filler for empty media space.

You should be signing the books of your followers and not making them wait out in the rain for hours. Stop talking about policy when your book has nothing to offer about it.

Who cares what Sarah has to say !!!!! This individual makes it up as she goes along, blames everyone, especially the media for all of her mistakes and lack of knowledge and get support from wingnuts who hate the fact that a black man was elected president. If Sarah Palin is the best the Party of No has to offer – I say 'bring it on..!!' Having this loon as presidental timber will feed all the comics in the world with plenty of material for years...

Palin's comments will go against her if she runs for any office. Lots of people are suffering without healthcare and have lost their homes and savings, apparently she doesn't understand nor has she read the plan proposal. No matter how many pages – you still can still read it in a few days unless you never read . Guess she wants all the free publicity she can get for her books'cause the fanfair will stop really soon.

the only one who is out of control is Sarah Palin and the rest of the republican party. It's funny how they will demonize the democrats for doing things that dont even compare to how they were doing t in the Bush Admin. The republicans have a strange kind of elitist attitude, where it's only ok if they do anything, and a sign that the country will be ruined if the dems do something even remotely similar. Where was all this outcry 6-8 years ago, when we NEEDED people questioning the actions and motives of the government? In my mind, if you were caught up in the hype, fear, and facist patriotism of 2002, then you have no business commenting on this countries current state of being. We need level heads and rational thinking. We've seen how religious zealots and fanatics deal with problems. Now it the turn of the scientists and progressives, who have always been the ones that have pulled this country out of the mud time and time again.
