You're as pretty as Palin, Carville tells Matalin
Washington (CNN) – Longtime Clinton ally and Democratic strategist James Carville had some rare words of praise for former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union. But, ever the good husband, Carville made sure to heap equal praise on his wife, Republican strategist Mary Matalin.
The two were discussing the recent controversial cover of Newsweek magazine, in which Palin is shown in running shorts. Carville said Palin should not complain about the use of a photo which was not a candid shot but one she had originally posed for, even if it were for a publication other than Newsweek. Echoing recent comments by Palin, Matalin disagreed and said she thought the Newsweek cover was sexist.
“You can agree on this,” Matalin asked her husband, “she looked good in it, right?”
“She does,” Carville said without hesitation, “Ain’t no doubt about that. You and her are the two best-looking women in the Republican Party,” the Democrat told his wife.

But Carville did not have much more positive to say about Palin.
While the Democratic strategist said Palin is “compelling” and connects with her supporters “in an unbelievable way,” Carville also said the former Alaska governor, believed by some political observers to be laying the groundwork for a 2012 White House bid, is not fit to be the nation’s chief executive.
“What I said about Sarah Palin on the day she was nominated [for the number two spot on the Republican presidential ticket last year], is still true. She’s uniquely and supremely unqualified to be president of the United States. But she’s got real presence about her. I find myself wanting to watch her more than I do most other politicians,” Carville told CNN Chief National Correspondent John King as Matalin looked on.
Matalin said Palin was good for the Republican Party as it begins to position itself for the 2010 midterms and the 2012 White House race.
“We’re ascendant in 2010,” Matalin said Sunday, “but we need people who can communicate the framework, the philosophy into which policy prescriptions can be put and [Palin] does that better than almost anybody.”

Gotta give the guy credit,,,,when his wife is in the room, he knows the right thing to say .As to Palin....I think Matalin is way off base.How can Sarah communicate anything when she's obviously using sound bites that she doesn't really understand. Her basic knowledge of the political framework is painfully lacking and covered by a "gift of gab". So far she's fooled a lot of people. I'm hoping we'll get past her before she does any permanent damage.

I have to agree that Sarah Palin has no business in the White House. I would happy if she decided to run with Glenn Beck, though. That would be smooth sailing for an Obama re-election. Even if she somehow managed to win, I'd get to go around for the next four years to all of my conservative friends saying "See?! See?! This is what I was talking about."
It's amazing to me it's so acceptable to be so sexist and so misogynistic, but ONLY against a conservative republican woman that has realistic and financially sound principals, shame on anyone calling themselves an American that accepts this tripe.
I think that Palin is starting to show her age more than she was last year. I am an older woman and I can see the signs. The problem is when you are thin wrinkles in your neck and face start to show up. She was prettier when she had more weight on her.

Palin is willing to get all the press she can, but only if it is on her terms. Sounds to me like a typical Republican trying to manipulate the press.
Carville is a very intelligent and observant husband. His survival instncts were right on the money. As far as his political opinion of Palin, yep he is on the mark there too.
I think James missed an opportunity to score a few more points with Mary by failing to point out that, while Mary is every bit as pretty as SP, she beats SP hands down in the brains department.
There's something really wrong with Palin. Deeply, disturbingly bizarre. And this says something deeply, disturbingly sad about the citizenry. Its as if we prefer to be shouted at, to be sloganfied, to ra ra ra for the winning team. She makes a glorious cheerleader indeed. But who will be the quarterback? We don't let the Pepperettes call the plays do we? Hey I want a woman president - but I don't want an idiot.
Pres. Obama is gorgeous, and guess what, he is still disciplined and getting his way. Wow.

It's easy for sarah to be the best-looking woman in the Republcan Party. The vast majority of the politicians are white, overfed and under-excercised men (and this is coming from a white, overfed, and under-exercised guy). The difference is they do have some brains and some political savvy. She has neither. If she wasn't pretty, she'd be off the radar in about 2 seconds. Very similar to Ms. Prejean. Being a pretty airhead that photographs well doesn't get you much serious airtime, unless it's on Fox News.

We cannot have another "puppet" as Chief Executive as we are finding out with the war(s) and the economy. It's got to be extraordinarily tough dealing with these and putting forth improvements.
Let's get along and craft/implement the best policies instead of have the $ sign drive the entire nation.

Love is blind ... as personified by Carville's comment (good for him) and those "in luv" with Palin ... the word "fans" come to mind – shorter version of the word "fanatic" .... and we surely have enough fanatics for the next decade ....
