(CNN) - Oprah Winfrey will interview President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, next month for a 60-minute program to air before Christmas, the talk show host announced Wednesday.

"Christmas at the White House: An Oprah Primetime Special" will air at 10 p.m. December 13 on ABC, her Web site said.

"The intimate, informative and entertaining hour-long special will include a one-on-one conversation with the president, marking the first time Oprah has interviewed him since he took office, as well as an exclusive sit-down interview with the first couple," it said.

"The special will showcase behind-the-scenes preparations as the White House gets ready for the holiday season."

Winfrey, who supported Obama in his presidential bid and this month interviewed failed GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, recently said she will stop hosting her syndicated talk show in 2011 to focus on launching an Oprah Winfrey Network on cable television.

I would assume that he is taking Ms. Obama to Oprah's studio's in Chicago to prepare for the White House interview at taxpayers expense - I'm sure they will have a big night on the town costing us thousands. Sick of all three of them. Oprah will probably be his VP mate in 2012. What an egotistical trio!

Oprah. Obama doesn't like cable. You think he will still watch?

Oprah wants publicity and he can get it through Obama because Obama does not have any other decent engagement for Christmas.

  5. CNN, you are so unamerican

You pick and chose what and what you will not post. Journalism? Fair and Balanced? Facts? If you don't like or don't agree with a post, you simply remove it. I guess you are hoping that your station will be the "chosen one" when there is only one media outlet left in this STILL FREE COUNTRY of ours.

I think it's great and appropriate for Oprah Winfrey to be granted the first interview of our first African American President in his first Christmas in the White House. Oprah Winfrey has epitomized Africa American success and so has our President. Let the people see what successful Black People are all about!

I am certainly looking forward to seeing the Christmas Special. Anything President Obama and Mrs Obama are in is most interesting to me.

Are you sure it's "Christmas at the White House"? If so, then why no Christmas Tree this year? Obama says it is a "Holiday Tree" with Holiday decorations, hmmmmmmm.

What, is this a competition to see who likes to hear themselves talk most? My money's on Obama and there's not many among us who can out-windbag Oprah! Is this why they call Chicago the Windy City?

No surprise here. I'm sure Oprah will ask those hard hitting questions often asked of the Obama's by the state owned media. Questions such
    as.......

    1) What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
    2) What is your favorite cookie?
    3) Which do you prefer....Airforce 1 or Marine 1?
    4) How is BO doing these days?
    5) What is your favorite room in the White House?
