Many things coming from this administration are bad for Americans and this country. Obamacare is without a doubt one of the worst.

a health economist
It really is sad that so many people in this country are not educated enough to realize that these guidelines are based on health policy at the POPULATION level, not the INDIVIDUAL level.
What that means is that they do not recommend a blanket policy for all women of this age group to have yearly mammograms. The reason for this is, while cancers will be caught early and lives will be saved, it will not out weigh the negative effects, both costs and health outcomes, to the rest of the age group. This age group has a huge number of false positives which lead to unnecessary anxiety and additional tests.
What this doesn't mean is that they recommend no one in this group to have mammograms. If you are in a high risk group, then yes, you should probably get a mammogram. If not, then your doctor should say it is likely not needed. If you are risk averse enough to still want it, then yes, you should have the mammogram.
Wow Carly, glad something in that brain works.
