Virginia welcomes Sarah Palin

Fairfax, Virginia (CNN)– "It feels like home!" That's what Sarah Palin remarked about the snow falling in Fairfax, Virginia - the latest stop on her book signing tour. Several hundred people waited patiently in line Saturday for a chance to meet the former Republican vice presidential candidate.

"It was absolutely worth it," said Billie Jo Melting of Hampton Roads, Virginia. "With Sarah Palin, it's all about family. She talks to the normal person," she said.

Palin's book "Going Rogue" is a best seller and supporters of the former Alaska governor said they did not want to miss the chance to meet her. "She's like Reagan in heels." That's how Chris Bradford of Manassas, Virginia views Palin. "We need somebody like her to get conservatism going again," he said.

Palin was accompanied by her husband Todd and her infant son Trig as she walked into BJ's Wholesale Club in Fairfax. Once inside, Palin signed copies of her book and posed for pictures with fans.

"She's got everything, said Ron Wolfe of Sterling, Virginia."She's just fantastic."

Isn't Virginia where they invented the "toothbrush" ? It should feel like home to her.

  2. Sarah's awesome!

I'm just adding my 2 cents here to counter all the hate!

We LOVE Sarah and Todd Palin and their family is a class act. With all the crap the media dishes on them, they remain true and above the fray.

Thank you for being a "middle America" family that we can look up to.

I guess that says a mouthful for Virginians...and The buffoon, herself, too. If they want her, they can HAVE her, nobody else does.

    · Sarah is awesome because she worked her way to the top with the little money she had , and not through some rich big wig family.

I love Sarah Palin! she knows how to work hard, and not let nasty smears get in her way. she has a backbone of steel! I love that in a leader, and I hope she runs again, so she can prove a nay-Sayers wrong.

A friend and I, both women in our 60s, stood across the road from the venue of Sarah Palin's book signing in Fayetteville, AR. We held placcards that made it clear that we were not supporters. We used no rude or obnoxious language, unlike the Palin supporters who shouted threats and obscenities at us as they drove by. A police officer was positioned nearby to protect us from those who no doubt consider themselves to be upstanding Chrisitans who firmly believe in the 2nd Amendment...but not in the 1st. We did question the intelligence and perspicacity of people who shouted, "Get a job!" Let us hope they do not speak to their own mothers and grandmothers so rudely. Perhaps this is their idea of civilized discourse, as seen on Fox News.

There are numerous reasons to admire Sarah Palin, her courage, her inner strength, her honesty, integrity, her poise, her charm, her knowledge about energy, her leadership ability.

In the liberal worldview assertions are the truth, everything else is hateful opposition to the agenda. All those who oppose the agenda are evil. There are no facts other than what proves the assertion, all else is misinterpreted or irrelevant data. The agenda determines the assertion, the assertion is the truth and only the relevant facts support the assertion. Anyone who attempts to subvert the truth of the assertion is evil and their minds are full of hate. Thus forms the perfect circle of liberal thought, the agenda, the truth and the relevant facts. If you are a lawyer reading this, you know why the American system of law has nothing to do with justice, the perfect circle is drawn by the line of argument.

"Thank you for being a "middle America" family that we can look up to."

I love how a woman who made $7 million for putting her name on a book she didn't even write represents "Middle America" to some people.

Ah yes the intellectually challenged Palin bashers continue their rants of hate because the democrats lack a smart, sexy, charismatic women candidate for higher office. It all boils down to pure jealousy that the Republican party will claim first women elected president, and shatter the liberal feminist movement forever.

Sarah is all class. she loves all americans!
The notion that she is some sort of obsessive partisan is a media propagated myth.

Specific to Palin fan Billie Jo Melting of Hampton Roads...

I'm sure Ms. Palin is all about "family", as you put long as those families are white, middle class, Christian (specifically evangelical Christian), straight, and not asking for any assistance because they are down on their luck....and it helps if you have contempt for anyone with an above-average IQ.

As for families like mine that are agnostic, gay-led, smart....and who work with mentally ill homeless people who would be left with virtually no social underpinnings if Sarah Palin became president....frankly...we consider anything BUT family.

Ms. Melting....I ernestly hope that both you and Ms. Palni find it in your hearts this Christmas to realize that there are people who are very different from you AND who are just as deserving of the American dream as are you.

Hmmm.....sounds like you just described Miss America....Frankly, that's NOT who we need to be running our country.

I love Sarah palin’s no-nonsense approach to the issues. She’s not one of these good ole boy types that does nothing but worry about how many pet projects he or she might get.

the two things about Sarah Palin that I don't think have been adequately appreciated are, number one, if you look at the numbers, she really wasn't that different than Barack Obama in terms of experience and time in office, and [things] like that. The real big difference between the two was she hadn't campaigned non-stop for two years, and had she campaigned non-stop on the national stage for two years she'd have been just as polished as Barack Obama. She's a phenomenal politician and there's no better retail politician on the planet than Sarah Palin with a microphone in front of a crowd. So I think the big experience gap was the one that is about running on a national ticket—he had a lot more experience there and it showed up.

Those who disrespect Gov. Palin are only disrespecting themselves. If there were a compilation (and there may be somewhere) of all the unprecedented vitriolic slander directed at this absolutely charming intelligent and RESPECTFUL woman, it would deserve a place of honor in a Hall Of Shame.
I have come to the conclusion that certain types of people need scapegoats and sacrificial victims to satisfy some kind of atavistic sadism that compels them to attack what is beautiful and good. Any NORMAL human being, would be able to see that Sarah Palin is a down to earth good person and agree or disagree with her policies and positions, afford the high respect that is her DUE, that she DESERVES, for her honest work on behalf of the American People and her lifelong efforts to live in a loving, intelligent and moral life.

    December 5, 2009 05:04 pm at 5:04 pm |

Good points. There is absolutely no reason to show disrespect to Sarah here. I’m getting tired of relentless attacks by MSM on her even after the election. It only shows how scared the liberal establishment is.

We must stop Sarah Palin because Obama pays for my gas, my food, and my mortgage.

Sarah Palin would put the country back to work and make me pay my own bills.
