Houston elects first openly gay mayor
Houston, Texas (CNN) - Annise Parker made history Saturday as Houston's first openly gay mayor.

I think the Country is better off now than it was a year ago. So it is all opinion, not fact. Also, tell me a President who has kept 100% of their promises? Once any President gets to the White House, they realize they aren't going to be able to do all they want.
I wonder who is aids will be?

I see the issue of gayness as more along the line of separation between liberalism and conservatism. I would imagine in trying to substantiate their sexual deviancy the gay must accept all other forms of weirdness and social inequalities as they perceive it based upon their own personal experiences. Given this thought along political lines, a gay political official would seem to me to fall along the lines of following the liberal philosophy promoting policy as to how our social system should function. I would believe a prime example of this would follow the same racially motivated line of thought and actions as that of our New Wise Latina reverse discrimination collaborator SCJ....

Thats such a typical Right Wing Church ignorit comment. Your comments just lower youself to a level of dog pile. You need to go and get a education. You are whats wrong with this society, typical comments like is what is wrong with Republicans these days. Treating other like 2nd class citizens. Look at this fact there are some gay/lesbian whom have the GUTS and WILLING to lay down their LIFE to defend this nation. YET you are a pure CHICKEN and WIMP to do the same, yet you still denail them of equal rights.
Good on Houston. I read this fight got pretty ugly with homophobic hate injected for good measure. Congratulations to Mayor Parker and to the majority of Houston residents who resisted hate. It's a good move forward.

Woonsocket, although crude, point taken and point made... As society continues to accept deviant behavior within our social fabric we continue our decline of social decay. In our past history homosexuality and lesbianism have always existed, it has been accepted although not openly promoted or condoned. The question is, if sexual deviancy is openly accepted without moral restriction then what is to prevent man boy love, bestiality or pedophilia from being the next in line? I believe this is the larger concern of many people, same as with the marriage thing, why isn't a civil union just as good? I believe it is that same underlying issue of homosexuals and lesbians trying to force and substantiate their sexual preference upon the natural or normal population.
Well, maybe a part of Texas is progressing into the 21st Century. Nice to see.

It is not a Republican/Democrat issue. It is a morality issue and what you believe to be right and wrong. There are many many gays and lesbians in the Republican party too. Your comments are implying that gays are only in the Democrat party and Christians are only in the Republican party, which is obviously not true. There are, I am sure, a lot of Christian Democrats who oppose the homosexual agenda too.

Great Dane are not capable of granting consent. These types of arguments only serve to reveal ignorance. A few days ago, I read a letter to the editor of our newspaper that claimed that there is absolutely no homosexual behavior in the natural world, except humans. Of course, that is completely false and simply spreads more ignorance, not only of homosexuality, but also of natural animal behavior.
I have one question. Why is it that while we're talking about someone's sexual orientation, somebody has to bring racism into it? Excuse me, but the words racism and homophobia aren't interchangeable.
Monster Zero, only right wing nuts believe anything outside their narrow minded thinking is not normal and diviant. The love to hate and love to judge and love to live in fear. However, It would seem to me that you are hiding the fact that you are gay. You will me miserable until you come to terms with it and accept that you are gay person.
I wonder if she was really born in this country. Did she have to produce her birth certificate?

If you wish to play that card then why those who are against gay/lesbian are too chicken to put up their LIFE to fight in WARS? Yet they are willing to put out statemetns condeming homosexuality? When there are Gay/Lesbian whom are willing to put LIFE on the line to protect this country for these COWARDS. People like Rich Warren whom at frist praise the killing/jailing of citizens of Uganda whom are gay/lesbian, until the media heard about it then he did a 180 turn going against it for his own image.
I consider conservatism to be 'deviant' behavior, yet I am forced to tolerate Republicans in society....Prejudice is very different when it's you, isn't it?

Wow, what a good idea. Let's elect someone based solely on her sexual preference. Gays are all about one issue and one issue only. What a laughing stock. So how about other things like can she lead and be a good mayor? Nooo...who cares about that, as long as she is gay. Please. Can't wait till some city elects a pedophile or animal lover. I bet they will be really qualified as well. Gays need to understand that the vast majority of U.S. citizens do not buy into their mental illness. Time and time again states are voting down gay marriage and the gay agenda. Why? Because it is nothing more than special rights for a sexual preference. Guess what? You already have the same rights as normal people. You can marry anyone you want....as long as it is someone from the opposite sex. No special rights for deviance. Leave you feeling in the bedroom where it belongs. Don't make you sex lives our problems. Why is it that Gays are so hateful to those that are normal. Stop being haters and stop living in the stone age...where monkeys were doing it with whatever they could. Come into the modern age. Men for women and women for men....lol.
