Obama: Congress on verge of passing health care bill
Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama said Tuesday that "it's clear" Congress is "on the precipice" of passing a sweeping health care reform bill.
"There are some differences that still have to be worked on," he said at the White House. But "there is broad consensus around reforms."
The president said Congress "simply cannot let differences" over specific elements of the plan prevent passage of a bill. "There's too much at stake," he warned.
"Any fair reading of this bill" meets the administration's criteria of lowering costs and expanding coverage while not adding to the federal deficit, he claimed.
"I'm feeling cautiously optimistic we can get this done," he said.
Obama made his remarks shortly after meeting with Senate Democrats.

When are these politicians going to work for the people instead of catering to the insurance companies. People are getting very fed up with these wishy-washy politicians. Lieberman doesn't seem to know which end is up. It's time for him to be replaced and the republicans and some democrats need to stop acting like spoiled brats!!!!
Odumbo doesnt care what is in this pig of a bill, he just wants to say that he made it happen and he will sign anything that is brought to him.
This guy is a tool, he really doesnt care about what american's want. He only wants to give to those who helped him get elected, what a nice guy. Once we are all broke then he can have it his way.
If this passes we are so going to pay for it because he said"this will not add to the deficit", HELLO, does anyone understand that we are going to pay for this, are you ready for your paychecks to get smaller. The poor thinks that this will be free, the poor cant afford to pay the rent much less health care.

I suppose it depends on how much of a Prima donna that Joe Lieberman decides to be. He's really full of himself on his little power trip. But how stupid does he look when he votes against the Medicare policy the HE advocated!
What a jerk! I suggest going with the "trigger" option to bring a few Republicans on board and pull the rug out from under Joe. Kick him off of every committee and tell him to hit the road.
His wife is an advocate for the insurance companies so I guess it her interests that he serves. So, we make get something called health reform but I don't expect it to actually BE health reform.
If passing a healthcare bill without a public option and without expansion of medicare and costing my family more is a heatlhcare bill, then I don't want it.
Judas Joe Lieberman stands 2nd to taking the most money from Insurance lobbyist and that's why he doesn't want healthcare reform. John McCain says he's proud of Lieberman but what can you expect from someone who also stole billions from the failed Lincoln Savings and Loan Company.
i hope they can do something,,, americans never should loose there homes because of medical bills,,, but trust me what we get will be pander to trail lawyers , ama, insurance companies,,, its all bogus and the people are going to get a half ass bill that protect all the ones who have big time lobbiest protecting there clients...

Mr. President, I am an ardent supporter of you, but if you sign a bill with no Public Option, a bill that forces me to buy unregulated private insurance, and to levy a fine against me if I don't, is not what millions of Americans like me voted for. We still trust you to do the right thing. Start by scrapping bipartisanship, it doesn't exist in the GOP's limited voacabulary.

Specific elements, like
1. It costs $1 trillion if everything goes just right but it doesn't create any jobs.
2. It raises the cost of health care.
3. It is completely partisan.
4. It make health care a political football. Watch how well that works.
5. When it doesn't work, future generations will have a more difficult time undoing the mess it leaves.
6. It doesn't increase the quality of health care.
7. It is ripe for fraud, just like Medicare which is out of control.
8. We don't want it.
We are on a path to bankruptcy,and Obama wants to spend more?
If this reform passes the American taxpayer might as well quit working. You'll be working just to pay for all of this boondoggle to the tune of what three, four, ten trillion dollars?
And who wins, why the insurance companies and our elected leadership that's who, and right out in front will be the AARP the largest insurance provider to the retired. But that won't bother me anyhow since I'll be unemployed and or dead from starvation.
Remember governments do not take care of the people...people do. Governments only take care of themselves.
And the massive democrat defeat of 2010 is on the precipice and I can't think of a bunch that deserves it more. Hopefully, we will be able to undo the massive damage that has been done to this country and its taxpaying citizens since January of this year and then get rid of the idiot in chief in 2012.

It's still a monster that involves too much government interference and should not be passed. But at least the most dangerous teeth have been removed by taking out the public option.
I say kill the bill. There's nothing in it for the public, only for the insurance
company. It seems we cannot get what we need but always the big pockets gets what they want. Kill the BILL!

Liberman should not vote for the bill until he gets a promise in writing from Obama, Pelosi and Reid that the public option and medicare expansion will not be put back in when the House and Senate bills are merged.
So I guess Lieberman is the President now, since he's making all the shots.
They had better not pass it without a public option or Medicare extension. I will change my Democratic status if they do because for some reason Dems are afraid to stand up for what is right.
If they allow Joe LIEberman to walk all over them, they may as well pack their bags because the public won't stand for it.
